Weekenders and long term campers mixed together. There is some breathing room between sites. Many outdoor activities available. Simple and clean bathhouses. We stayed overnight. Our pull through site was not level but there were some that were gravel and flat, easier to get in and out. Nice fire rings. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

Office staff was very accommodating and we were given a choice of sites. The park is great for families, and there were no shortage of those. Roads are gravel and easy to navigate. Sites are gravel, and were also a bit muddy from recent rains. No issues with utilities and our site was open enough to get satellite. There was a patio, picnic table and fire pit. We would stay here again. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

Nice park but the owner is very unfriendly. She insulted my wife concerning a black water tank clean out. Our site did not have black water sewage dumping. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

Great park, good location. Just watch the trees on River Road coming in; they hang low, not the campground's fault. The pond was some of the best times we have had in the water all summer long! Lots of events always going on in the campground. Being from Texas, we had to attend the Texas BBQ meal and hoe-down. They did a good job! We had site 8E. It was level and open on our door side. Lots of room, could park Jeep in open area next to us We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Clinton has all the basic stores you need, others are not that far away. The Ace Hardware store in town was one of the best I have ever been in, they care. Take the short drive up yo Rhode Island and check out the beach. We went kayaking out in Long Island Sound, unloaded at Harborside Marina. They were the cheapest: $10.00

We had a back-in site that was moderately unlevel front-to-back. Nearby trees blocked our satellite dish and this is probably the case for most sites. A number of local broadcast signals were available. Good Verizon signal. Park is clean and well-maintained. About half the sites were seasonals. Friendly office staff. Interior roads were slightly narrow with a few tight turns and numerous speed bumps. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We camped here with 3 other families over Memorial Day weekend, 2017. All the main roads are paved but the sites are very small and cramped. If you have more than one vehicle with you, you're in trouble because there's no room to park. Just about every seasonal had a golf cart, so there was always traffic going by. They had a live afternoon band on Saturday that was great and a dance with a DJ for the evening. The facilities were in great shape. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The check-in process was organized and one of the best we've seen. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Ask for an outlying site away from the main site concentration. The sites are a bit bigger there, although you may not get 30 amp service.

It would be nice if they could tell you if you can get satellite on a site. And trim trees to make it more possible. On the weekends a lot of kids & adults walking around, not on the same side of the road & its tough to back out even when you're being careful. Driveway leaving needs to be leveled out. A lot of activities to do. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

We have family in the area and since there are few campgrounds to choose from in Connecticut, we stay here. Although we requested a satellite-friendly site, ours was not. I don't believe the staff really knows what that means.

Sites next to the creek/river have "partial sewer," which means grey water only. Black water may only be dumped at the park exit station.

I would venture that over 70% of the sites are seasonal campers. Our back-in site was comfortable and ample for three slides. That said, once the weekend campers appeared we were pretty much trapped in place. As a previous reviewer observed, this is like a crowded "trailer park" on weekends.

Nevertheless, this is a fun place for kids, with swimming, fishing, and many organized activities. Our grand-kids (and one parent) had more than their share of fun on the rope swing, which made our stay enjoyable and worthwhile. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The nearby town of Guilford boasts the largest town common or green in the US.

Guilford also features a quaint marina and small beach.

Hammonasset State Park, practically a stone's throw from Riverdale, features hundreds of campsites as well as welcoming sandy beaches.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It's pretty much the only game in town and was okay-not great, not horrible-just okay. It has all the fun things..swimming pond, playground, shuffleboard, etc., but it has a little bit of a crowded "trailer park" look in parts of it. Some of the sites are shaded, woodsy, and charming, while there is a section that's out in the open that just seems like campers are everywhere. Our 50 amp, FHU, back-in site was partially shaded and on the end, so we had a nice yard on one side. The site on the other side was fairly close as were most of the sites. We were easily leveled, but had to re-level after a few days. The WiFi was really good. Cable had limited channels, but still plenty to have decent choices. Had good Verizon service. The place was clean. Our GPS wouldn't take Clinton CT. They have blue directional camper signs once off I-95. Follow those signs. They need one of two more indicating you're on the right track. At one point, we thought we were lost. If ever in the area, we would stay again. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

The toilets and showers were quite old. We only saw two of each. The campground is primarily a residential summer camp. There was a fishing pond. When one drives in the gate the place presents a really well kept look, so the poor quality of the showers and toilets was surprising. There is quite a long winding road to get to this place, but we saw 40's doing it. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

There isn't much to choose from as far as campgrounds go in Connecticut. This park is close to the ocean but you would have to drive there. There are a lot of seasonal campers here but their sites are well kept. Garbage goes in one big dumpster at the front of the camp. You have to toss it in. When we got here it was mounded up 8 ft high. They allow people who are not camping here to pay to get in the park to use the pond. The sight we were in was supposed to be satellite friendly wide open with nothing around us. That was true our sight had no trees but it is heavily wooded in front of our site & in back. We could not get satellite. They do have cable & they do have WiFi. However we had trouble getting cell service in our RV. Sometimes we had to try a few times & it would finally come up or we had to move to the front of our unit. This was certainly not something we expected in CT. The laundry had four dryers, two that were out of order & four washers. The water pressure was poor. We filled our tank & ran off our pump. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

Access from I-80 is dicey at best. Small narrow road that is about 1 ½ mile long access from the interstate. Access to campground is by card reader only but they have a speaker system that you can speak to the office with when first time entry.

This campground advertises as being big rig friendly but there only a very few sites that a big rig will fit in. Some campsites are pitifully covered with gravel that has just been poured on it and left there with little attempt being made to smooth and level it out.

The first one we tried to park in, that was assigned to us by the office, was so unlevel our rear wheels would have been off of the ground even with extra pads under the tires. We could not get level.

We looked around and found one we thought we could fit in which was a back in grassy site. Even then it was difficult to back in because of the narrow street but we were able to do it because there wasn't anyone across from us at the time.

Utility services easily accessible from the rig with the water being very hard. Verizon wireless accessible with a strong signal. Satellite access was iffy in this campground due to large trees. Large amount of permanent parked sites with most pleasantly set up and landscaped. Residents very friendly to transient's.

Downtown Guilford, CT was a nice day trip with shops and restaurants. Waterfront area was nice with a view of Faulkner's Island. There is a state park close by with trails that we did not visit.

Restrooms clean and functional. Small laundry on site that we did not use. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Motorhome.

Our site was very sloped from front to back. Rear wheels once leveled were 3 inches off ground. However, we enjoyed our visit here. Spacious sites with good WiFi through TengoInternet. Cable TV was excellent. Really nice fire pits at each site. Patios could be larger. Views were excellent. Very pretty driveway entrance to park. We would camp here again if ever in the area. This is a nice campground with tons of activities for the kids, which appeared in abundance on the weekends. Our site was comfortable and ample for three slides. WiFi overall was fast and reliable. Apparently, the State tests the swimming pond water weekly, and closed the pond to swimming for one day due to "bacteria." We were later informed that this was due to heavy rain runoff. We camped nine days to entertain and overnight grandkids from the Hartford area. Overall, Riverdale was a good experience. We camped at Riverdale Farm Campsites in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Shopping in Madison or Clinton, about 20 minutes in either direction. The campground is 20 minutes or so from Hamonasset State Park on Long Island Sound, thus there are other swimming/beach options.
