Nice state park. Has no hookups. Nice level pads. Lots of grass. - Bjb1775
Jul 2007 - $11.00
This is a state campground with no hookups. It has two separate camping areas about a mile apart. We stayed at the Wolf's Den area for 3 nights, which has large sites, both very grassy and well maintained, with the road and parking areas level and paved. The Mashamoquet camping area is about a mile away, and much more primitive. It would probably not accommodate large campers very well, and seems better suited to tents and maybe small campers. There are seven miles of trails through the park, all very pleasant for hiking, which connect the two camping areas, various rock formations, and also provide access to a swimming pond in the park. (Can also be accessed by road.) All things considered, this is a very quiet and well maintained campground with a friendly staff, and for $11 per night, a very good value. We would gladly stay here again. - Strahwk
Oct 2014 - $30.00
This campground used to be a great family place, however in recent years it has seriously gone downhill, as you can see by its dated facilities and drastic decline in seasonal campers. The basketball court has not been refinished in a long time, the park is constantly swarming with hornets and bees, and the beach area is filthy. The events they hold are mediocre at best, with the adult events turning into a bunch of people getting drunk and obnoxious quickly. The events for kids are repetitive and poorly hosted and attended. The drug use in this campground has seriously increased and campers are regularly broken into and stolen from. Seasonal campers are unwelcoming to weekend visitors. - CamperRay
Jul 2014 - $30.00
This seemed like mostly seasonal sites with additions built onto trailers. There was one site- "Jake's Place" that had so much junk on it (I mean junk) that the theme from "Sanford and Son" came into my head every time that I walked by it. The water in the cove looked low, as if it had been drained. The pool was clean. The staff was friendly. There were activities every night in the rec hall until 11. This wasn't a peaceful experience that we were looking for. I don't think we will go back. - RIcamper
Jun 2008 - $36.00
The sites were pretty much out in the open, with very little privacy, ours was just dirt, although we did see some were grassy. The seasonals were not very welcoming. We also had trouble getting a pizza delivered, with the pizza places telling us that there has been trouble at this campground in the past. The bathrooms were dirty. To be fair, the lake is very nice, but not nice enough to stay here again. - JewelsRDH
Aug 2017 - $47.00
I like this campground alot... They have alot to do for families with little kids. It's a smaller campground, nice game room, I wish they had a full time snack bar, the ladies in the front office are so AWESOME. Gets crazy busy and crazy crowded on special weekends (memorial day, 4th of July, etc...) wifi isn't the best..not sure if that matters to some people - BfrmRI
Jun 2017 - $50.00
We stayed here last summer with the grandkids when we had to camp fairly close to home and it worked out great. there was a lot going on for the kids that weekend and for the adults with live bands throughout the weekend. it was a very hot weekend in the 90s and they did lose power but everybody in the park was running their air conditioners and they had the power company out to fix the problem within a couple hours. The campground is very clean, kinda on the rustic side but still very nice, sites are a little small like a lot of CGs are but there was adequate room for our 31' Class C. They served breakfast Sunday morning for a reasonable price; we did not partake because we had the kids. Staff was very friendly and helpful, restrooms were clean. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for anybody visiting or passing through the area - Banditoman60
May 2017 - $47.00
Camping over Memorial Day Weekend and the campground was very busy. Site was back in, but room to get in and out. Campground only has one road that goes in a out which is one lane, so it got busy. Also dump station is at the back of the campground which stayed busy since it was Memorial Day weekend. Will stay again. - bkboren
Jul 2017 - $39.00
Very laid-back atmosphere, friendly staff and friendly seasonal people, Wish they had wi fi, no cell phone service with t-mobile over there. But there is a pay phone, good store there and not expensive, they keep their prices affordable, - Zztammyzz
Oct 2016 - $36.00
WE got there late and left early. Park and owners were nice. - johnmack
Sep 2015 - $36.00
Very limited Verizon phone service. Did not get WiFi and hot spot would not work. Stayed 3 nights because of location. Mostly permanent sites. - Dick Schmidt
May 2012 - $42.00
We were shocked at the condition of this campground. Drove in and right back out. Did use the restroom, and it was clean, but I was over come by the smell of Lestoil cleaner! Play ground was on dirt with no mulch, grass, pea stone, etc. Sites are one on top of the other, and the roads are terrible. I am notifying KOA to go and inspect this campground. You would even have difficulty riding a bicycle. NOT a typical KOA campground. Do not go to this campground! - Mike and Rose
Jul 2011 - $54.00
Our site was adequate. We had huge rocks to drive over, but once we were set up, we had a nice view of the road. We enjoy when they have a burger shack so we can enjoy not cooking occasionally. Unfortunately, the burger/ice cream shack "Bubbas" that they advertise never opened and they told me it's because of the economy. I was disappointed in the condition of the pool. It was also very cold. There is nobody to pick up trash. We had to drive it to the back of the campground which was an extremely rutted road. That was a terrible inconvenience. There were no activities for any children to participate in. There is a nice playground though. - AlracYam
Oct 2010 - $55.00
This was our first trip to this campground. We went with another couple. I had to send multiple emails to get answers to my questions. Two days before arriving, I still had not gotten the information about final prices due to "bring a friend, camp 1/2 price" that was listed on the website, but not verbally told to us on the phone. Upon arriving, my husband and the other husband camping with us had a terrible time getting into the sites. They were far to small for our 35' fifth wheels. If we had not been with the other couple, we would not have been able to use our fire ring, canopy or picnic table. As it was, we used the empty site next to use for the campfire due to the small sites. On Saturday, we went up to the store between 9:30 and 10:00, but it was closed. There wasn't any firewood and we ended up going to another campground to look around and buy wood there. The DJ was to start at 7:00, but it was much later before that happened. Dogs were howling around the clock for 2 1/2 days. I was double charged for one site even though several emails confirmed that both sites would receive the 1/2 price for the weekend. It is not a place that I would recommend if you want activities or have a large camper. - lauriejm
Jul 2015 - $48.00
I booked one night. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised how well stocked the office was with everything needed to camp including toys for the kids. I was undecided on the site I wanted to stay. I was escorted on a golf cart to sites along the water. The staff member suggested I use sites 61 or 62. Most sites on the river were taken by seasonals. The site was easy to get in and out. There were lots of trees and was very relaxing. The bathrooms and showers were the cleanest I ever camped at. It was so relaxing I stayed a second day and used the pool. It too was the cleanest I every used. The roads were kind of ruff and there is no need for a 5 mile speed limit sign as it would be the fastest you could drive without experience discomfort. This place has it all. Wide open to treed sites. A big pavilion and canoes to rent, fishing, horseshoes. basketball court. The only thing in poor shape was the miniature golf. I can't wait to go again. - niftysixty
Jun 2012 - $42.00
We camped here with 2 other families. There were 9 kids from ages 5-10. The good: Sites were big under tall pines in the area that we camped. This gave us great shade. We had W/E/S, and our site was relatively level with only a few roots around the big pine trees. Owners are very nice. Craft time was fun for the kids (free for 1st craft, $1 for the second) and the lady running it was very patient with my detail oriented son who took a long time to finish. Pool was clean, but got crowded. There is mining and panning available for a fee (I thought was reasonable), our kids loved this. Camp store was reasonably priced too. We camped within sight of the pavilion and the older playground. A second playground that the kids loved is closer to the office. This was in good shape. There was a nice level loop that the kids could ride their bikes around that was in sight of our site. There is also canoeing and boat rentals, as well as mini golf and a museum all for a fee, but we didn't do any of those things. The area that we were in had us in contact with only one seasonal trailer, and they were super nice to all of us. The bad: There was a group of tenters right next to the pavilion that had a pitbull. There is no policy on aggressive dogs. Front desk told me that they would keep an eye on it. I just kept a close eye on my kids! I have a dog of my own but would never bring her here because there were dogs everywhere with no restrictions on where they could go as long as they were on leashes. This may be good for some, but not all dogs can handle lots of kids running around nearby: like pit bulls. At the dance pavilion, there is a concession stand. After waiting in line, with no one behind us, we were told by a rude girl, that they were now closed. Bathroom toilets looked clean but had lots of cobwebs and spiders hanging around. (I know, this is camping in the woods, but this freaked my daughter out.) Overall, I liked the campground, but was really concerned about the big dogs around. I would definitely camp here again, but I will wait until after the season is over, and ask about the dogs. - Itsatrip
Oct 2011 - $43.00
We stayed here Columbus Day weekend which coincided with their Halloween celebration. This was a blast and virtually each and every site participated. Not much else to do here as far as amenities go, but they do have a nice fishing lake. - McNamara's Band
Sep 2018 - $35.00
We came here on a whim. Showed up with no reservation. They welcomed us in with a nice wooded site. This is definitely a smaller campground, mostly seasonals but everyone seemed friendly. Definitely worth a return trip. I would say the only complaint I'd have is that their dump station is on the wrong side of the road make sure you have at least a 15' hose. - Sstratton6175
Sep 2015 - $20.00
Owners seemed less than thrilled to have us there. We are full-timers and move frequently. We think we are ideal campers (no kids, no dogs, quiet, no parties, etc.). It was very strange, we felt like we were always being 'watched' so they could tell us we were doing something wrong. They did tell us we were driving too fast but it was hard for us to believe because the roads were dirt and uneven with rocks so who would drive fast?? We were in a back in spot that was very hard to maneuver around all the tree limbs. They say they are big rig friendly but we felt it was very tight for our 35 ft. rig. Turning corners was a major effort have to back up to miss large boulders on one side and tree limbs on the other. We did have a very nice fire pit. The dump station is very hard to get to and is on the wrong side for most RVs. We won't be going back here. - RunAroundSue
Apr 2018 - $36.00
If I focus on the scenery surrounding this campground, the steep, rocky hills, the babbling brook, the woodland just receiving spring's first touch, then I can say that this was a good week. If I think about the specifics of my site and experience, I come to a different conclusion. When I arrived, no one was there to check me in or point me to a camp site. After half an hour, a staff member, friendly but without authority to made decisions, was able call the manager, who pointed me to a site. It was a back-in, not the pull-through I had arranged, and it was right across the lane from a dumpster, so I had to set up in a cloud of fresh spring flies. The site was nice and wide, and I backed in with little trouble, but the surface was soft and muddy with recent rains. The manager did call on me later to apologize, but it took a third contact to actually get the receipt I asked for. I had earlier posted the address of the park to Netflix, in order to receive DVDs from my queue. They discouraged that address, due to past frequent returns of shipments, so I decided to do without Netflix DVDs for a week. The upshot is that the park suffers from weak management. There seems to be a lot of work going on in the park, but what happens in the office is slipshod. My site had full hookups, though the water pressure was low. The rocky hills interfered with cellular service, so my wifi was weak, but still good enough to stream movies through my Apple TV. Despite the management issues, I had a reasonably good week at Nickerson Farm Family Campground, though I would look elsewhere before going back. - Jim Fulton
Apr 2018 - $35.00
This is our yearly return visit to Nickerson Park. Geography at the campground is level with open and shaded areas. Our W/E hookups were in good working order. We did not try the WiFi but good signal on our Verizon cell phone. Campground is about 40% seasonal, most seasonal campers were in good shape but a few were showing some age. Interior roads are packed dirt, level and easy to maneuver. Maintenance staff was especially helpful on resolving some issues. Most sites, especially the non river sites have enough space where backing in should not be difficult. Campground is clean and decently maintained. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone. - mdcamping
Apr 2017 - $26.00
Rate reflects discount. This year we were able to book a riverside site which overlooked the scenic Natchaug river. Our site was level and somewhat small in size for our 20' TT. Our water & electric hookups were in good working order. Interior roads are packed dirt & rock. We did not try the WiFi but we had a good signal on our Verizon cell phone. Geography at campground is level with open and shaded areas. Staff was professional and friendly. Campground is clean and decently maintained. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone. - mdcamping
Aug 2016 - $50.00
We were given site #. Map and signage in park poor. Our site had 18 inch tall weeds, no table, no fire pit. Water hookup and electric hook up are not close together. Office staff not very helpful trying to get our group, 3 sites situated elsewhere. The first site was located near old construction vehicles and piles of construction debris.
Our second night we were frightened by a woman wandering into our site yelling at 12:30 am. We called the office no answer. We had to call 911. Woman was taken away and we and others nearby were questioned.
The next day there was no electricity or running water. Entire facility lost power a short time on Saturday and there was none on Sunday. There was no running water or working toilets or showers on Sunday.
We left early to go home.
I have made numerous attempts to speak with someone in charge. The office will not give me the manager's name. I left my contact information but was told: "Don't expect that anyone will call you back."
Overall camp does not look maintained and facilities are not modern or clean. Customer service was extremely poor. - Lynn Botelho
Jul 2016 - $75.00
Upon checking in I had to wait almost 45 minutes to be sent to a site that was occupied. I was charged extra for my 2 companion/service dogs. There is nothing much for kids to do, they say they have kid activities but nothing fantastic. It would be nice if there was a pool but the lake was okay. Their modern bathrooms might have been modern in 1980 but the machine to regulate the 25 cent showers (yes you must pay 25 cents) was on point (working properly) with warm/cold water. The campground Is full of old junk construction equipment. Find another place, you will be thankful you did. - Melissa N
May 2016 - $50.00
We arrived and first had to pay extra for our 2 dogs. A lab, and a 15 lb rescue. We were then told no motorcycles allowed in the park! Its our only transportation! We are quiet grandparents, and had to park the bike near the park office with other bikes. The walk to our bike from our site was 1/2 mile. We were sent to a site, but it was occupied. When I called the office, they sent Us to another, that was occupied! They then proceeded to send us into an area that was too tight for our 37' motorhome. We backed into a rock trying to get out. We finally picked a site that was huge, and private. The lake was beautiful, the campground quiet. The lady that owns the place shouldn't be in the business of working with people. I asked for a golf cart ride to our site, as I have a lung disease. She told me flat out NO! The girls answering the phone at the desk admitted they don't know what size campers fit into the sites. Huge beautiful park. - Cyclegirl00
