This is an update to our posting of last year. Since that time, Foxwoods has made changes to their RV parking area. Firsy, it is smaller now that the gas station and convenience stores have been built. These are actually a plus - since we could walk over and get coffee in the morning and gas up without leaving the grounds. That is the only good thing. The worst part is that they now allow buses in the RV area. This means that you are surrounded by buses running continuously with fumes and noise all day and night. It finally gets quiet at 6 am. We stayed for 2 nights like that and couldn't wait to get out of there. I tried to complain to their transportation department but my call got put thru to voicemail and of course, no one ever called me back. Foxwoods has been our preferred casino spot for over 17 years. But no more. I will not go back. Foxwoods is a joke in that area. What a disappoint with Foxwoods! - loringsontheroad
Apr 2012 - $1.00
Foxwoods is a great destination spot for an overnight or weekend of dry docking. The resort accommodates RVs of all sizes in a designated parking area, within walking distance of the casinos, although shuttles run 24/7. You will need to check in with security, as most casinos require. Although there is nothing particularly outstanding about their parking area, it is free, the security is good and the casinos offer a lot to do. We've been coming to Foxwoods for over 15 years, always staying at hotels, prior to getting our TT. It is so much nicer not having to rush to get out of the room in the morning; we can sleep in as long as we like now! - loringsontheroad
Sep 2016 - $90.00
This is an older park dominated by and catered to seasonal/owners. The staff is very friendly.
Our site was small and very close - but a walk revealed much better spots. The bathrooms are NOT cleaned regularly. They are spacious and designed well, just not clean at all, and were not cleaned the entire weekend. Site rules limiting campers per site are ignored. Fires and conversations go late into the night (no curfew enforced).
Plenty of activities, nice pavilion and rec hall (not used). Three pools, two hot tubs. Golf cart rental is nice, but reserve early. DJ on Saturday night and Bingo (daily) could be moved into the enclosed rec hall to cut down on noise.
The buildings are older, and smell musty or damp most of the time from age. I could not stay in the arcade - instant asthma trigger. Even in the camp store (very nice camp store!) the smell came from the air conditioning - needs service. - SHerzig
May 2016 - $45.00
Great location! Kids loved the area and were able to linkup with other children their age around the camp. Bathrooms were very clean as well as the property itself. Really enjoyed swimming and being able to have a quiet relaxing time with family and friends! Staff was extremely helpful and on demand to help as needed! Love it here. - Ronnied55
Dec 2014 - $100.00
First Book Early as you don't want your family to miss out on this great adventure. Strawberry Park Resort is perfect for what I was looking for. I have a 16 year old and five year old grandson. So I needed a mix of activities for each of them. Clean restrooms and showers but could use more of them during the busy times. They have three pools and two hot tubs. Adult only pool and hot tubs. Wading pool for the youngest ones to a huge pool with diving board for the bigger kids. Also which I found invaluable as my eyesight is not as good as it used to be, is that they have plenty of extra eyes to keep a watch on kids... Plus most are young enough the kids love them. They just had a splash pad open up that is great fun. They have so many activities! From live bands, Bingo with approx 300-400 people a night to a hypnotist that is REAL!! Arts and Crafts with many open fields, Baseball, Soccer, Boccie to many to list.
They have golf carts if you're early enough to rent as well. They changed their pet policy so now you can walk your dogs to the safe pet areas for exercise. Just please pick up after them. - Gina Falt
Aug 2016 - $39.00
Dirt sites but very level. We chose a back in as it was a little less expensive. They give 2 nights at Passport America rate. Very clean and the grounds are kept quite nice. We would stay here again. - har-fl
Aug 2016 - $45.00
Easy access for Big Rigs (we have a 45ft + toad)
Very clean showers and bathroom: Having no sewer hook-ups, I took our three children to the shower house daily.
Lots to do for children: Heated pool, playground, mini-golf, and laser tag
Super easy drive to Mystic Seaport
Laundry facility clean and reasonably priced
Pump-out every three nights stayed, but no pump outs on Sunday. We were leaving early Monday and came in on Thursday so we did not get a pump-out.
No middle walkway to shower houses so you have to walk all the way around each row to get to the showers. Easy if its just you, but a pain when you are taking a 1 and 3 year old to the showers.
Overall: We would stay here again if planning on going to Mystic. Several seasonal rigs on site that were extremely well-cared for and maintained. Everyone was very friendly. - RVThatFamily
Jul 2016 - $25.00
Sites are open with lots of room between. Quiet park with lots of amenities. We only stayed one night, but would return if we were in the area. - Jolacabana
Aug 2016 - $63.00
This is one of the few campgrounds in Ct. We were visiting family and used this as a stopover on our travels. We were in the pull thru A section. Long pull thru site. This was good as sites are on the narrow side, and many of the hookups are over in the neighboring site. Sewer connection is 2-3 feet from the water connection.
Friendly staff, plenty of space to walk dogs. Playground and pool. We pulled in local channels via antenna. But they do have cable. Wifi was adequate. We will stay again. - luv2gowalkabout
Aug 2016 - $90.00
I had stayed here once before, and am disappointed in a number of things I see since the last visit.
1) No familiar Yellow KOA signs at the I-95 Exit and into the campground. Sure, there is the blue and white campground sign, but who knew if that was for another campground. And with poor wireless service in the area, Google Directions were intermittent.
2) Thank God for the manager coming out to help us, because the one sign pointing us to the premium sites at 10:30 was not enough. We wandered into an area where we almost damaged the fence and our camper. They need another sign up by the row of cypress trees pointing campers to the premium pull throughs.
3) The premium sites are WAY over priced. I've gotten better premiums at better prices. Sure, you have a captive audience being the only game in town, but these sites were poor, especially with no shade.
4) The last time we were here, the showers under the rec hall were in need of upgrades. They are STILL poorly lit in the shower area, especially for seniors like us. No benches and few hooks.
5) The showers in the building where the office was: the left one didn't drain and both of them had loose drain covers. I almost slipped in the shower on one. NOT safe.
6) The wireless? Poor doesn't even describe it. Poor bandwidth and intermittent signal. The best time was at 3 in the morning. Almost useless other times. Some people like to work on line while they are away.
They've got a great pool and slides, but don't seem to spend money elsewhere.
Sorry, NOT coming back. - SunnyMac
Aug 2016 - $50.00
I was some what disappointed in this KOA. We stay in KOAs mostly and this place was on the most part was a good location for us. However, when we were in camp on our stay we had people going through our campsite going to the pool and the very large Pillow Jump. The roads are very narrow. If you have a 45 footer you have just enough room in the pull-throughs for your front cap and rear cap. The water and septic are REALLY close to each other, a condition that could be dangerous to your health. Our spot was empty when we got there but the weeds were up over the ankles. You would think that the weeds could be cut when it needs to be cut. The absence of signage to the KOA is problematic. The only sign that we saw was the one at the driveway of the entrance. The site next door had a sewer problem that was caused by the pipe being 6 to 7 inches below the ground so that there was no way to hook up to it and have the sewer pipe stay connected. You know what that does but the office was no help to their guest on their 4 day stay. What a mess. - Scooter & Crew
Jul 2016 - $52.00
Very nice park with a lot of activities for the kids. Kept very clean. Not sure if your an adult without kids this is a great park for you, but if you have kids its a lot of fun. The outback section is nice and more private then the main area. - john55
Jun 2015 - $42.00
Family oriented CG with beautiful facilities. My site was right on the river because I camp in a VW Westfalia, and can use a tent site.
On site restaurant is very nice when you don't want to cook. We had torrential rain, and had to break camp with everything soaking wet.
The dance on Saturday night was too loud, and too frantic. Tone it down! - JudoJeff
Aug 2014 - $44.00
Great sites and amenities. Friendly staff. Clean bathrooms. What else can one ask for? Cable TV included. Will go again. - shasta63
Sep 2016 - $50.00
Oh my! What a beautiful RV park. After 6 weeks at the busy beaches of southern Maine, what a treat it was to stay at this wonderful park. Jim! What a great guy! This park is so meticulously maintained. It is so well laid out. No rows of campers here. It is laid out like a housing development in the woods. Huge spaces between our neighbors. Quiet, peaceful, and gorgeous. It was about a 20 minute trip to anywhere. We visited both casinos while here. We visited Mystic & Westerly. WiFi was excellent until the weekend folks arrived; iffy after that. - Arizona Nancy
Sep 2015 - $41.00
This is definitely one of the better maintained campgrounds we have stayed at. Jim and Lin really care about the grounds as owners and it shows. The site itself was more than large enough for our 35' fifth wheel and truck. There was no grass at the site, but plenty just down the road for walking the dogs. Even though we stayed over Labor Day weekend, we had very few campers around us, making for a very quiet stay. The utilities were great and wifi was solid, no cable but we picked up the local channels over our antenna. Verizon cell coverage was fine. The laundry had two washers and two dryers, at $1.75 each. It is about a 20 minute drive to Mystic, but aside from that, there is nothing immediately around the campground. If you're looking for a nice quiet campground to spend some time, this is for you. - pfogleboch
May 2015 - $48.00
Road to park has overhanging trees, but they've been "trimmed" by previous RV's. Dirt sites and roads make for dirty rigs, and the trees over the sites drop tons of stuff onto roof and awnings. Quite a few creepy-crawlies too, but all that's to be expected in the woods. However, the sites are very large, and the pond and grass areas are very nice. Very quiet area. Owners are extremely nice and helpful. Wifi excellent. Only a handful of sites can put up a dish (due to the trees). No cable, but could get a few channels with antenna. Phone service (Verizon) good. - OTR again
Jun 2012 - $1.00
This RV parking was enthusiastically recommended by another blogger and was everything they said it was! My husband and I loved it. Granted - this is not a real RV campground - but is a great place to stay if you are looking for a weekend destination. The view from the designated RV lot was spectacular! We were high up and had a delightful breeze and sat outside with our awning extended, reading, eating and just delighting in the view and weather. In the evening we took the convenient shuttle to the casino, had dinner and walked around for several hours. While we relied on only our trailer for its power, the battery and propane were enough for an overnight to make breakfast, lunch; our water tank was full so we had everything we needed. - loringsontheroad
Jun 2012 - $1.00
This is a great place to park while going to the casino, especially on a rainy weekend. There is no cost for staying here. It's not a campground, but more a place to park. Call for a permit and security gives you a pass good for seven. It's dry camping, so it's better for short stays. They have a shuttle service to the casino. We camped here in a travel trailer. - ballard01887
Sep 2011 - $1.00
For a casino parking lot, they have one of the best! We ended up with a spot over looking the river: a great view. They bend over backwards for those looking for a No Cost alternative to over-nighters and even extended stays of others. Good shuttle service to Casino, and the Casino itself is beautiful. If back this way again, we will stay again. I might add, a much better offering than the park down the road. - acampingfan
Aug 2007 - $37.00
The 2005 review was right about the seasonal campsites - but unfortunately I didn't read RV Park Reviews before we booked! Many of the sites were not well-kept and the RVs were in disrepair. (I don't mean old, I mean falling apart!) The beach appeared OK but we didn't swim that weekend. The weirdest thing was what happened at night - I don't know where everyone went, but it didn't look like anyone was at their campers (even though many fires were left burning unattended) and we didn't find anyone congregated in common areas when we walked around. The seasonal campers didn't seem as friendly as other campgrounds we've been at. - vermontstergirl
Oct 2005 - $30.00
The facilities are aged. The campground is occupied by about 90% permant sites. Some of the sites were very trashy. Would not have stayed if any thing else was available. Dot not recommend this campground to anyone. - bcampbell
May 2016 - $30.00
I liked this CG, it was very quiet and relaxing. We were on a tent site with my Westfalia VW camper. Roads are gravel, but easy access even for big rigs. Owners are very pleasant, and go out of their way to help. They have a fishing & swimming pond, I didn't catch anything, but enjoyed trying. Plenty of activities for the kids. I thought the Saturday DJ dance was too dark and gloomy, with too many flashing, colored lights. I like to dance, but that would've given me a headache, so I left. - JudoJeff
Sep 2013 - $36.00
This is a beautiful picturesque campground. Camp units were on 90% of the full hookup section but none were occupied. We stayed in the short term W/E/Gray water only section. Our 2 day stay was very pleasant. The Wi-Fi was excellent. Air TV was limited. Direct TV was available in the office lounge. The staff were very accommodating. Relatively close to Mystic, Providence, and Norwich. It looked like it might a busy/fun family park in the summer time. We would camp here again. - peterray
Jun 2013 - $36.00
Park is off the main highway a few miles on a narrow road. Heavily wooded area, no satellite signal. Only a couple over the air TV channels. Roads and sites are gravel/dirt. Power and water were good. We would stay here again. - kmgulf
