Great park. We arrived during the eclipse. Owners had glasses for us. Wow, what awesome people. From check in to check out, we loved it here. The staff, the location & we had great weather. The camp has new 50 amp spots. We had no issues at all. We are in a 45 bus pulling our SUV, no problems. The camp provided an escort to the spot. The camp store is well stocked with goods and great conversation. We cannot say enough about how wonderful the owners and staff are. Thank you for a great stay. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

This is a great campground! Stayed 4 nights. Was supposed to stay 6 nights but we were delayed two days due to unplanned maintenance on our tow vehicle. Super nice and helpful owners. Called and spoke to a member of their team and she adjusted our arrival date with no problem and didn't charge us for nights missed. Beautiful country setting! Very clean restrooms! We have a 39' fifth wheel and prior to our arrival the same lady recommended we take Rte. 2 out of Hartford to exit 16 (Hwy 149). The GPS tried to turn us down several different roads but we took Valerie's advice and remained on 149 all the way to N. Moodus Road. Glad we listened. We drove some of the other roads the GPS had recommended after unhooking and there is no way I would have wanted to go those routes with the camper hooked up. We were fortunate to stay here the week after Memorial Day and there were only four other campers in the park so there was plenty of room. We were on site N5 which was very level. The sites beside us were very tight but it didn't matter so much since the other campers weren't right beside us. Pool was great! Water pressure was marginal. Wireless very weak at our site. Verizon was back and forth from LTE with 2 bars, to 3G, to an occasional 1x and back again. Will definitely stay here again if in the area again. The only reason I give it a 9 rather than a 10 is the closeness of the adjacent sites, the marginal water pressure. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Fifth Wheel.

Quiet campground. Site are open and level. Owners take a lot of pride in the campground. Not much in the way of activities but there is a pool, arcade and a room above the office with books, board games and puzzles. Bathrooms are clean and showers are free. Campstore has basics, there is a small market and a few restaurants close by. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Travel Trailer.

We held a family wedding here in their hall. The entire staff was wonderful, extremely helpful and accommodating. We can't say enough good things about them. The grounds are lovely with a pretty view. The restrooms were clean. We rented most of the cabins for guests who found them very comfortable. Its a very peaceful place. This is our 3rd trip the Grand View. I am still amazed on all the continued improvements, some of which are 7 new W/E/S sites with 4 more in the works. Bathrooms & showers by pool area were clean but found shower stalls cramped and tough to move around in. Most of the new W/E/S sites are pull thru and excess seems easy even with the larger Class A's. Geography at the campground is mostly open on a slightly graded hill. Grounds are well maintained. Interior roads and sites dirt and crushed stone. Our W/E hookups were in good working order and no problem backing into our site. WiFi was very good, okay signal on our Verizon cell phone. Grandview is located in a beautiful country area which just adds more character to an already great little country campground that caters to the quieter crowd. Owners were professional, friendly and informative and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone. A work in progress. A very nice setting - mostly open field on a hill, but it needs some work which the owners are currently in the process of completing. The primary concern we observed were sites that were not level. Also trees are not trimmed high enough for big rigs.

Some sites are grass, some are gravel. Older grass sites are OK on width. Newer gravel pull thru sites are rather close together. Leveling is currently a problem. The newer sites were being re-leveled while we were there, but even with the releveling it looks like longer rigs may still have a problem leveling. Maneuvering with big rigs is not great, but doable - some of the newer sites have pretty tight turns into the sites.

Big rigs should come in from CT-20 as the bridge in East Haddam (coming in from CT-9) has a sharp right turn at the east end of the bridge. Big rigs using CT-9 will likely need both lanes to make the turn. All rigs should approach the campground from CT-149 and not from CT-16 (a very tight u-turn is needed to get into the campground when coming from CT-16).

Power OK, water pressure low at 32psi when running (50 psi static). No sewer in our site but honey wagon is available for a fee. T-mobile no service, Verizon 1-2 bars LTE (sometimes only 3G) with adequate speed on LTE, no data with 3G. Campground WiFi decent signal and speed, but campground was nearly empty. WiFi did get very sluggish in the late afternoon. No problem with satellite access.

We would consider returning. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

The most charming camp ground I have ever been to. This is a new campground about 5 years old. Roads are dirt so there is some dust created when traffic drives by. Camp sights are grass and dirt, mostly level. This use to be a kosher resort with a hotel and cabins, but hotel has been torn down. They reused some doors from the hotel in the bath house and mirrors on the wall are from the old dressers in hotel, very quaint. Bathrooms are spotless. There is a large enamel cast iron sink outside for pop ups and tents to clean dishes, another cast off from the old hotel. Game room is large and plenty of games for kids. The store has a room on second floor for board games and books or just to connect to wifi which is stronger at the store than at our campsite. Staffed by owner and her sister, they were very knowledgeable about the area and were very helpful. If you go you must ask to see the video they took of the old hotel before it was torn down very interesting if you like history. That type of resort is now a thing of the past (think Dirty Dancing). I would definitely stay here again. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Fifth Wheel.

We were here for the week of Memorial Day so the rate reflects higher for the weekend. Before and after the holiday weekend we had the park to ourselves pretty much. For the holiday weekend we had horrible water pressure and poor electric voltage. The site we had was not level, however it was acknowledged that more work needed to be done and were provided wooden blocks for the wheels and to make the step down easier. There is no laundry at this time. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

The owners were extremely helpful and friendly - The husband was mowing when we pulled up to our site, and he stopped and came over to see if he could help. Site and roads are grass/dirt. Our back-in site on row E had water/electric, was level side-to-side, and had a great view. WiFi worked even though we were a good distance from the office. Verizon was good as well. Pool crystal clear; restrooms spotless.

The Owners gave us lots of advice on where to go sightseeing, and even before our trip they made sure to warn us not to follow the GPS, and gave us the best route there when towing a camper.

Price compared to other RV parks and state parks in CT was very reasonable. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Travel Trailer.

Mystic Seaport is about a 45-minute drive. The Submarine museum is slightly closer, on the way to Mystic. Gillette Castle State Park is definitely worth seeing, about a 10-minute drive down the road.

Consistent Wifi, but sometimes slow. Beautiful grounds on a pretty, pretty hill. Dirt sites. Dirt roads. Someone mowed the (thin) weeds/grass on both sides of us and dust filled the air, but I guess that can't be helped until the greenery gets thicker. Very nice staff. Very low water pressure; plan on using your pump for more pressure. You just can't have a lovelier place to stay. I would have given it a 10 if the roads were paved and there was at least a concrete patio. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

This was my first visit to Grandview and I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the facilities and the pool. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Our cabin was great! It was clean and spacious. There was a very large closet and built in drawers for all of our gear. There was a small dorm size refrigerator in the room too.

There was a nice mix of RV sites, tent sites and cabins. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Cabin.

This campground is a real treasure. We learned that it was purchased just a couple years ago by a couple who have worked tirelessly to make this into a comfortable, tidy and peaceful haven. Of particular interest is the history of this park. It was originally home to a 1950s era hotel. Although the hotel, long-abandoned, had to be torn down, the owners incorporated several items salvaged from the original hotel. For instance, the bathrooms stalls are each framed with doors from the old hotel. Restored vanity mirrors are mounted to the wall in front of each bathroom sink. Flowers have been trained to grow up the headboards of old metal bed frames. The bathrooms were spotless (far cleaner, I'm afraid, than my own at home). The pool was very well maintained. We also enjoyed the beautiful wildflowers used in the landscaping throughout the grounds. What makes this place very special is the couple who owns it, and their sister who lives there. They were just the nicest people, and so ready to help us out when we had some trouble with our camper. I'm so glad we chose to stay here. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Travel Trailer.

We again enjoyed our stay, found continued improvements being made to the campground. Some of which are 8, 50amp WES sites along with some additional WE sites. Also with the much needed removal of the dilapidated hotel building has drastically improved the overall looks of the campground. Geography at the campground is mostly open on a slightly graded hill. Our hookups were in good working order. Our WiFi was slow, okay signal on our Verizon cell phone. Owners were professional, friendly and informative and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone. Totally agree with previous review. What these owners/hosts have already accomplished in just two short seasons is amazing! Top quality improvements. They're happy/cheerful folk and tireless in their passion to make your experience wonderful and memorable. Countryside is gorgeous, especially with fall colors during our stay. Enjoyed the atmosphere so much we extended 2 more days. Bathrooms are spotless. Wi-Fi range could be better. Verizon worked fine. Hopeful travels return us to CT and this great park! Full hookup sites will likely be ready next season. We camped at GrandView CampResort & Cottages in a Motorhome.

This is a campground under new ownership. Owners have sunk their hearts into upgrading all of the facilities at the campground. Some of the improvements are the new camp store, upgraded/new bathrooms, rec hall, pool, cottages, pavilion for get togethers and so much more. Geography at campground is mostly open on a slightly graded hill. Our hookups were in good working order. One issue was the C area sites which had little privacy between sites because of the location of the power boxes, my guess the owners will address this issue also. Campfire wood was the driest we have ever seen. Our Wi-Fi was poor, okay signal on our Verizon cell phone. No full hook up sites as of now but campground offers a honey wagon service, dump station is in good working order. Owners were professional, friendly and informative and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. Would certainly return again or recommend this place to anyone.
