Very accommodating owner, easy access to grocery store and interstate. They also had a store that could meet your basic needs as well as a grill/kitchen. There were several seasonal people on site, that wasn't a drawback. They were very friendly as well as helpful. It was like a small community. It was Memorial Day weekend and there were a lot of primitive campers so the owners put us with the seasonal folks. Some of the sites were not completely level...you can make them work. The sites were also large and shady. I would stay again. We camped at Pequot Ledge Campground in a Travel Trailer.Undo

Let me first share the good about this park. It is located on Gardner Lake. The lake offers good fishing, and anything else you can do on the lake. They put down new decking on their docks. Now the bad. The ownership/management only wants your money. They lack business savvy social skills and at time make you feel like you are an inconvenience. As a seasonal camper you are charged for everything. 3 grand for the season. $100 extra if you bring one kayak or $3 per day to launch from their property. The roads are dirt, making park very dusty. The bath houses are gross with spider/cob webs everywhere. Only 3 of the cabins are usable, the rest are condemned. I have not been in one, but looking in they are nasty. The snack bar food is okay but too expensive. The rec hall is filthy, the boat house is run down, the beach is a joke and run down, the sidewalks are all broken up and are a major hazard. (Law suit in the making). The paved areas of the road are also busted up pretty badly. The basket ball court is gravel and there are very limited activities. The ones on the schedule, only about 1/2 are actually done. This is mostly a seasonal place but the ownership/management does not been care about its residents which reflects in the number that have left. They do not have the passion of a normal campground owners and no pride in their facility. If your interest is a place to park and want nothing from the facility, this is a good place. If you are looking for a fun, activity based, safe, clean, and cared for place: you WON'T find it here. Connecticut State Parks offer more for your money. Check in was easy and that's about it. They share Gardnerlake withe the state. Swimming area is a joke, activities are poor, we were placed next to a bunch of drunk seasonals that wouldn't stop until 2:30 in the morning. I told the owners the next day but they didn't seem to care much, they talked to them, then pointed out I was the one that complained. One group apologized, that afternoon, the other did not, and it continued that night. If you want to get drunk all weekend, this place is for you. Not recommended for families, looking for relaxation from it all. We camped at Pequot Ledge Campground in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

All I can say is DON"T GO HERE! We stayed here in 2002 or 2003 We usually camp in trailers but this time my sister didn't have her trailer so we decided to rent cabins. All the negative reviews are correct. The owners do not care about this campground. Do not believe the brochure at all. The cabins were disgusting, never cleaned and trash under the bed. Spider and cobwebs everywhere. It took me 2 hours with a broom to get this place somewhat usable. My husband fixed a window that was broke. The lodge was disgusting also, there were dead bugs in the window sill and the furniture they must have picked up from the side of the road. Save your money and go somewhere else. The only good thing was the lake was beautiful. We camped at Pequot Ledge Campground in a Campground Cabin.Undo
Nightmare of a campground! 92 sites in total - only 18 are available for transient campers. All others are seasonal. Of the 18 available for rent, we were the only with a pop-up, all others were tents. I made a reservation for 3 sites together and was told the only available were the first 3 on the map, which was directly across from the dump station (or as their map states: "Dumbstation"). We were told that the map was deceiving and you couldn't see or smell the garbage from the sites. Obviously this was a total lie. We felt like we were IN the dumpsters! Ugly and very smelly. To the small credit of the staff, we complained and they got the garbage collectors to empty them, but they filled up soon. The rec hall should be spelled WRECK hall. It was filthy, smelly and filled with old furniture that we were afraid to sit on - not sure what diseases were living in it. The hall was also populated by the staff's family and we felt very intrusive even walking through it. The grounds were very hilly and rocky and loaded with potholes making bike riding impossible. The bathrooms and showers were FILTHY, and the one in the field among the weeds and the rusted boat trailers had only one of the two toilets functioning and the staff didn't seem to care. Additionally, there are NO activities for kids OR adults. I was glad this was an "adults only" trip, I would not have felt safe letting my kids run around this CG.
The only saving grace of this campground is the lake which is beautiful if you have your own boat. The CG charged a hefty $10 an hour to rent a rowboat,
paddleboat or canoe, none of which were in the best shape. The other downfall is that all lakefront or even lake views are seasonal sites. The rental sites are NOWHERE near the lake. If you want to stay on Gardner lake, there's gotta be another CG that can fit the bill. This place should be avoided at all costs! We camped at Pequot Ledge Campground in a Tent Trailer.
Avoid this campground at all costs! Focus is entirely on seasonal sites, with little for
transient campers. Campground facilities are deplorable, un-maintained, and potentially dangerous. It seems there once was a playground for the little ones, but the equipment now sits in a rusting heap. Junk cars litter the property, along with various engine parts. Nothing could have prepared us for the condition of the cabins. Firstly, full payment is insisted on prior to seeing the facilities. I do not know who cleans the cabins, if anyone. We were scared to let our kids play on the floor, on the furniture, or anywhere in the cabin. It was absolutely horrible. A rustic cabin is one thing. An unmaintained shack is entirely something else. We left after one night and were refused any sort of refund. Campground management seemed much more interested in laying around the rec hall, smoking with their family, than maintaining this CG. Bathrooms were in terrible state - not cleaned for the time we were there. To previous reviewer's description of "Nightmare of a campground", add "Horrorshow". We camped at Pequot Ledge Campground in a Campground Cabins.
Starting with a "3 nights minimum payment" for a holiday weekend (Memorial Day 2003) things went bad. My wife said "I'd rather stay home". My son said "the owner's son won all the tournaments - where's the fun in that?" Our site (tent) had a beautiful view of the back of the seasonals' parked boats and to get water we had to hold buckets up to the showerhead in the appalling bathrooms. If you're shy, bring along a towel to stuff in the 4" gap in the wall between the ladies' and mens' restrooms in the field bathroom. Oh, yeah - if you're not a "friend of the owner" forget
about any kind of even-handed treatment. We camped at Pequot Ledge Campground in a Travel Trailer.
