I was surprised to read the review that said this CG isn't good for motorhomes. We have a 40' motorhome and we pull a 29' enclosed utility trailer. We are also in spot 191 and we have ample room. We didn't have any problem maneuvering through the park. As for the dust, we expect that at most parks that don't have concrete and grass. I'd rather have dust than the sand. We didn't have any problem with the electric. The only reason they didn't get a 10 is not having sewer. But they did come and empty our tanks for free. We would stay here again. Staff is very friendly. - sdhorses
Jul 2016 - $48.00
Stayed 4 nights in our motorhome. CG not set up for motorhomes. Sites all gravel so dusty. Electrical service fluctuated. Hook-ups do not include black water drain, must go outside CG to location next door to drain tanks. Garden hose drain provided for gray water. Lots of activities for kids. Forced to sign indemnity waiver releasing CG from liability even in cases of gross negligence by CG. - Al Z

Thirty years of camping - rate this A+! Grounds & pools well maintained, restrooms spotless. Quiet friendly campground. Grounds, pools, activities were easily accessible to our special needs grandson. Owners very accomodating. Lots of activities for kids and adults. Snack/ice cream bar a hit! Already planning to go back next summer. - Ontheroadagain 3

Jul 2017 - $50.00
Very clean park with good size sites. Large field with nice playground. Pool was nice as was lake for swimming. The camp store was also a hit with kids. The ice cream was awesome! Utilities worked great but in a bizarre place. Way up front.(site 10) They loaned us a cord, but we had to buy a hose..50' $30. - stanner17
Jun 2013 - $50.00
Great spot (#9), right on the lake so we could fish right from our site. Staff was super friendly, key card access, great country store and beach. Would have liked full sewer hookup at the site, but I understand being on the water gravity is working against you. Lots of activities for our boys, almost like a summer camp. Highly recommend going. Bring your kayak and fishing pole! - Pshaine
Aug 2010 - $45.00
Very expensive CG, especially with no sewer hook-up and marginal 30 amp electricity. Do have gray water hook-up. Always walk and check out your site before bringing a rig in. Very few are level enough or large enough for Big Rigs. Even 5th wheels need to do a lot of work to get level. Interior roads poorly maintained and become streams in heavy rain. Staff friendly and helpful, but always a struggle to get a site that works for 40' motor home. They don't allow you to reserve a specific site. Bathrooms and lake area extremely clean and neat. No cable TV, but can get local TV with antenna. Verizon cell and air card work well. Lots of activities in season. Some seasonal sites are not well maintained. Unfortunately not anything better in the area. - TravelingBaggs

Very accommodating owner, easy access to grocery store and interstate. They also had a store that could meet your basic needs as well as a grill/kitchen. There were several seasonal people on site, that wasn't a drawback. They were very friendly as well as helpful. It was like a small community. It was Memorial Day weekend and there were a lot of primitive campers so the owners put us with the seasonal folks. Some of the sites were not completely level...you can make them work. The sites were also large and shady. I would stay again. - kenbarbie
Oct 2011 - $40.00
Let me first share the good about this park. It is located on Gardner Lake. The lake offers good fishing, and anything else you can do on the lake. They put down new decking on their docks. Now the bad. The ownership/management only wants your money. They lack business savvy social skills and at time make you feel like you are an inconvenience. As a seasonal camper you are charged for everything. 3 grand for the season. $100 extra if you bring one kayak or $3 per day to launch from their property. The roads are dirt, making park very dusty. The bath houses are gross with spider/cob webs everywhere. Only 3 of the cabins are usable, the rest are condemned. I have not been in one, but looking in they are nasty. The snack bar food is okay but too expensive. The rec hall is filthy, the boat house is run down, the beach is a joke and run down, the sidewalks are all broken up and are a major hazard. (Law suit in the making). The paved areas of the road are also busted up pretty badly. The basket ball court is gravel and there are very limited activities. The ones on the schedule, only about 1/2 are actually done. This is mostly a seasonal place but the ownership/management does not been care about its residents which reflects in the number that have left. They do not have the passion of a normal campground owners and no pride in their facility. If your interest is a place to park and want nothing from the facility, this is a good place. If you are looking for a fun, activity based, safe, clean, and cared for place: you WON'T find it here. Connecticut State Parks offer more for your money. - trooper889
May 2011 - $35.00
Check in was easy and that's about it. They share Gardnerlake withe the state. Swimming area is a joke, activities are poor, we were placed next to a bunch of drunk seasonals that wouldn't stop until 2:30 in the morning. I told the owners the next day but they didn't seem to care much, they talked to them, then pointed out I was the one that complained. One group apologized, that afternoon, the other did not, and it continued that night. If you want to get drunk all weekend, this place is for you. Not recommended for families, looking for relaxation from it all. - avidcamper123

Apr 2018 - $30.00
We stayed here during Easter break. It was very early and no other camp grounds were open yet. They graciously allowed us to stay in the winter loop for only $30 a night for full hook up. It was terrible weather (snowed). Sure, the camp ground is a bit dated and could use some updates but the person we spoke to on the phone to arrange the reservation was very pleasant. Her husband was the one who showed us to our place. I would stay here again. Friendly people, the few that were there. Thank you for a great vacation. - aka4170

Nice campground with friendly staff. This is a older park, great entrance road. We didn't camp much, were out all day most days. - FPguy
Aug 2008 - $40.00
I am writing this review and sadly I never got to stay at this campground. We came to visit and checked the place out in July. We were looking for someplace to seasonalize our camper for the rest of the year. The campground was nice, they had a game room for the kids and an "adult room" which smelled moldy and looked pretty run down. Their store was terrible but despite that, the place was in pretty good shape and would have done for the rest of the season, until we could get into someplace we loved next year. We talked to the woman behind the counter to see if she had any seasonal sites available at the time. she said they didn't have any that minute but the beginning of August she would have a lot opening up. She asked me to fill out a card with my info on it and she said she would be calling me the beginning of August with the available site numbers. Well, the beginning of August came and went. I called, they said they could not find the card I filled out and retook my info. I requested a call back that day and never got one. So I waited another week and called again. They said they don't have a card for me? So, I gave her the info again, and she said she would call me back. Well, I called again this week and what do you think they told me? They can't find my card! So, they tried to retake my information for the 4th time, but to tell you the truth if they can't keep track of a simple card, I don't think they can possibly run the rest of the campground. So decided I would rather have my camper parked in my driveway than at a campground that was run this inefficiently. - erin1129

The park is advertised as a year round park but only one bathroom was open and was not convenient since our site was all the way in the back - the only open bathroom was in the front in the office - and needs to be updated. We did not use the showers, which are pay showers. Our site had recently had new dirt put on it but this created quite a "valley" right outside the door. There are also quite a few seasonal campers sprinkled throughout the park. We will not be going back this park. - dadseven
Oct 2017 - $66.00
This is a lovely park and we were very happy to get a site here on a holiday weekend just passing through. The only reason I can't give a 9 or 10 is because they advertise free Wi-FI throughout the park. It was non-existent for us. The roads are very well packed and pretty smooth. The site accommodated our big rig well. We would come back here if traveling through this area. - Cruiser03
Sep 2017 - $63.00
This is a good campground for an over-night or short stay. The roads are gravel and easy to navigate. The sites are gravel pull-throughs, long and wide, with fire pits and tables. Our site had open sky so we had no satellite issues. The wifi, however, is very suspect and slow. Our main issue was the narrow gate at the entrance and exit. Big rigs need to take a wide turn exiting because of the narrow gate structure and sign. - SMorin

Jun 2017 - $58.00
Nice campground, hardly a "resort". Fairly level grass/dirt back-in sites. Full hookup 50 amp available, which we used. Nice pool and lake side swimming areas. Pretty well maintained and not too far from I-95. For the bad side: No signage from freeway, state road or city streets. Not even the entry. The total COMBINED IQ of the staff must be in low 100s. They are absolutely clueless about EVERYTHING. Can't check you in, can't get you to a site, can't give you a receipt, can't explain why there is no WiFi when promised etc., etc. We are easy to please, this is not sour grapes. Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else. - teepee51
May 2017 - $58.00
Campground was not crowded on the weekend we were there. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. It was early in the season so the campground is getting up and running. Only negative is the road noise at the site we were in. The 50 amp full service sites back up next to a busy highway. - RobS80
Aug 2016 - $50.00
What a wonderful place. Love the fact that it's the exact opposite of one of those big flat paved parking lot cg's. The winding (and hilly) roads add so much charm. The "alphabet" section we were in (site B) has tiered, level, wide, wooded FHU sites. Everybody and everything here is geared for your pleasure. For once I'm not complaining about having ANY tv. Can't wait for the opportunity to go back. - campiflo

This was too expensive without a full hook up. The water and electric was at the rear of the site and needed extra hoses. There was no wifi at site and was marginal in the office. the dump station is at the rear of the park with very tight turns and low hanging branches with road signs at each tight turn. - Al and Anne-Marie
Jun 2017 - $24.00
Pulling into the park, we thought "Wow!" This is going to be great. After checking in, giving the girl the dimensions of our RV, we went to our site. It was a back in. Great for a 28' or less. We have a 36'. No way would we fit in this spot. Went to the office to let them know the site was way to small. They told us to find a spot to our liking and let them know which one. There was on open grass field with trees and pull thrus. Nope. Can't use those. As those are for "seasonal" Campers. Hmmmm.. Looking around, there seemed to be A LOT of seasonal or stationary campers. We finally found a spot that we struggled with to level out. Even then we weren't quite level. We actually witnessed someone in a Fifth Wheel struggle for almost an hour to get into his site. This park definitely caters to the summer family vacationers. - StephanieBekker
Aug 2016 - $79.00
When we called for reservations they told me they had pull threw sites I asked 3 times and they said yes I told them I had a 39 ft with a car and need a pull through sight. I can't back up. When I got there it was 97 degrees out. I have copd and can't breathe on hot humid days. They said you have to disconnect. I asked for my money back, they refused. can you get someone to help me, she said they have no one. Well I disconnected it with the help of a nice guy camper. The manager is very rude lady and I will never go back there again. - denter

Great park. We arrived during the eclipse. Owners had glasses for us. Wow, what awesome people. From check in to check out, we loved it here. The staff, the location & we had great weather. The camp has new 50 amp spots. We had no issues at all. We are in a 45 bus pulling our SUV, no problems. The camp provided an escort to the spot. The camp store is well stocked with goods and great conversation. We cannot say enough about how wonderful the owners and staff are. Thank you for a great stay. - KodiTzu
Jun 2017 - $49.00
Quiet campground. Site are open and level. Owners take a lot of pride in the campground. Not much in the way of activities but there is a pool, arcade and a room above the office with books, board games and puzzles. Bathrooms are clean and showers are free. Campstore has basics, there is a small market and a few restaurants close by. - JJZS
Jun 2017 - $59.00
This is a great campground! Stayed 4 nights. Was supposed to stay 6 nights but we were delayed two days due to unplanned maintenance on our tow vehicle. Super nice and helpful owners. Called and spoke to a member of their team and she adjusted our arrival date with no problem and didn't charge us for nights missed. Beautiful country setting! Very clean restrooms! We have a 39' fifth wheel and prior to our arrival the same lady recommended we take Rte. 2 out of Hartford to exit 16 (Hwy 149). The GPS tried to turn us down several different roads but we took Valerie's advice and remained on 149 all the way to N. Moodus Road. Glad we listened. We drove some of the other roads the GPS had recommended after unhooking and there is no way I would have wanted to go those routes with the camper hooked up. We were fortunate to stay here the week after Memorial Day and there were only four other campers in the park so there was plenty of room. We were on site N5 which was very level. The sites beside us were very tight but it didn't matter so much since the other campers weren't right beside us. Pool was great! Water pressure was marginal. Wireless very weak at our site. Verizon was back and forth from LTE with 2 bars, to 3G, to an occasional 1x and back again. Will definitely stay here again if in the area again. The only reason I give it a 9 rather than a 10 is the closeness of the adjacent sites, the marginal water pressure. - Westrv4

Read the previous reviews and can see their point, the bathrooms were terrible. It's a country bumpkin place no doubt. Yet, if you're looking for some quiet time on a lake or quiet country roads the this will do. I'd not tent here but if you are self contained i.e. RV and don't mind using your own facilities then this is a good place.
It's quiet and right on the lake, good place for small kids to catch Sunfish and enjoy the lake, great views of the country and if you cycle then Route 207 is a good route, decent shoulders and challenging hills. Again, if you use your own facilities this is a good place, if you need to use theirs don't come here. - koeka
Jul 2014 - $55.00
The Camp Store is an old dingy cement block building with dilapidated furniture, poor game room, and lacks amenities. The owner charges $20 for gate key which they said would be refunded when I checked out. Also charges extra for cable hook up. Owner refused to return gate fee, after discovering a math error. Owner needs every dollar even though I paid for the site in full when I checked in. The site I stayed was muddy with other nearby sites harboring debris attracting insects. This place is not worth staying. The only good things were the lake and leaving this tired run down place! - shasta63
May 2014 - $35.00
This is the cleanest, friendliest campground I have been to in this area. My children were so happy between being able to bring our dog and have him swim in their doggy beach, all the activities like face painting and hayrides, and the swim beach for themselves. Huge field for the kids to play. I was happy with sites, fire pit on each site and a picnic table. Clean showers and bathroom. Their owner was so nice and accommodating. - klnfh09

May 2011 - $50.00
We stayed here on memorial day weekend. We were a bit disappointed with the lack of activities for a holiday weekend. My children had a great time with bike decorating and the bike parade but, that was about it. There was a craft activity (bring your own craft), line dancing (about 4 people), and a saturday evening dance (I think the same 4 people there) - That was it! The pool was a bit cloudy and very cold. The temp is understandable but, cleanliness is inexcusable. We stayed in the 70's section. Water and electric services are not located in normal positions. We had to go to Walmart and purchase a 30 amp extension cord to reach. The circuit blew a number of times if running AC and microwave. The beach and lake were OK to look at but, I would not let my kids swim in it, nor did they want to as it was very mucky. Another complaint is that there is only one bathroom at the pool/pavilion area. It also contains a shower. Plan on a long wait if you gotta go. If you do go here, consider the safari field. It looked MUCH better but, community fire pits only. I don't see us returning here. - Grafton MA camper

This was an awesome campground. It has very friendly staff and campers. Great sites: get a waterfront one, they are so beautiful. It's very clean everywhere. Has super clean showers and restrooms. Staff was very nice and super accommodating. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay here again! - shilostarr
