Most of the spots are around a large open field with very few trees. There are a couple of sites that have a view of the lake. All sites appear to be paved with Full Hookups. My site was close to being level, only about 1" off side to side. My site did not have a good area for the picnic table close to the fire ring. Some one had moved it to the off door side, but I never like to eat right next to my sewer connection. Most other sites looked like they had better room for their table. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed for 2 nights and happened to have beautiful weather that weekend. Our site backed up to the pond (which seemed more like a lake) and we had lots of space! It was a beautiful and relaxing place to spend a weekend after a few busy days touring DC. We launched our kayak near the fishing dock behind our site and the water was calm and pleasant for kayaking. Verizon and AT&T worked well, and it was nice that the sites have full hookups and 50 amp. The only drawback was the rule that you have to park your truck completely on the pavement on your site and it cannot be on the dirt. That was very difficult to accomplish since we have a 40 ft. 5th wheel and large dually truck, but somehow my husband was able to make it work. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

My wife and I stayed two night at Lums Pond State park for the first time. First thing you notice is the sites are very wide, you are not on top of your neighbor. Hook ups were right there. We stayed in site 16 very open. Some trees, more along the pond ( lake ). Very nice hiking or bike trails. Great place just to chill. You can buy fire wood there & ice from the site host, not sure they have much more this time of year. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a good overnight stop, especially for snowbirds heading south from the Northeast as it is one of the few campgrounds that is open year round with electric and water. It is convenient to the highway but still fairly quiet. Sites are fairly private and the restrooms were clean. The park has recently been renovated and gravel pads have been added to the side of the driveways. This was nice but because of the hard freeze this winter, and rain while we were there, the gravel turned into a couple of inches of mud. The park is on a pond and looks to be a nice spot for the spring, summer and fall for those looking for more than an overnight. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very impressive campground for the price, $25 plus a $4 online booking fee, Lums Pond is convenient to Rt 301, DE Rt 1 and I-95, making it a great overnight stop when traveling through the area.

Entire campground has recently been renovated, with wide, paved and level back in sites, and lots of spacing between sites. Each site has FHU, including 20, 30, and 50 Amp service. Most sites are in an open field, with little extra lighting, and very quiet at night.

Shower house is very clean and modern, with separate shower rooms from the main bathroom. Camp hosts were friendly and helpful, never saw a ranger. Park is open year round. If planning a weekend stay you may want to book online, camp host commented that they have been full every single weekend since June. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

The campground is amazing since it was redone. All sites have electric, water, and sewer. Not all sites are level and some are shorter for small rigs. Big grassy area in area near the restrooms and showers. Nice and quiet at night with no big lights to keep you awake. The trash bins were located outside the entrance, and a comment to management would be to move them closer to the roadway so you could drop off the trash and go without blocking the exit as some did while another went to the trash bin. Not a big problem but just a thought. The campground has some low areas that I saw a fair amount of standing water after recent rain, near the camp sites. Some of those could have dirt fill put in and raise those areas so you wouldn't have mud near your rv, again just a comment. Very nice park and certainly would camp there again. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

With shopping not far from Lums Pond there was plenty of eating and shopping to do. Everything we needed was within a short drive from the campground. I really liked our stay here it was quiet and peaceful. The only thing I missed was being able to check my emails, the campground has no wifi. With the hurricane happening back home in Florida, I would have liked to had the wifi, but we survived without it.

We had camped here some years ago and the camping area seems to have been renovated since then. The park is not too far from I-95. Our site was level and appeared to have been very recently paved with asphalt. Bath facilities were clean. Nice small pond in the park. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rate paid was for out of state. We stayed for three nights prior to the July 4th holiday. Love this campground and will definitely be returning. Newly remodeled with 50, 30 and 20 amp service at all sites. Needed to level a little, but not bad. All sites are paved. With gravel for the picnic table area. Fire ring, too. Enjoyed our stay and would recommend this park. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

The campsites' amenities were newly installed last year in the entire campground. Some of the campsites pads were not wide enough, but the Park personnel were working to resolve that issue with the contractor. The hookups are too close to the site and are arranged oddly, in conjunction with the narrow site--it made opening the slide an interesting exercise. I have a 25' motorhome and a Mini Cooper--my site was just long enough to accommodate both, but I was able to park the car alongside the motorhome. The park does offer a parking lot for cars that cannot fit into the site. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

Excellent place to stay. Extremely level and wide paved back-in sites with full hookups and 50 amp power. Nature trails and bike paths. Nice lake with boat launch, etc. Small store on premises. Well manicured and beautiful. Most sites can get satellite, and over the air channels are great for those who cannot. I do not overrate campgrounds as many do. This would have been a 10 if it had WiFi and a pool! Will stay here again if we can. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice state park. The paved and level sites are located in 2 loops, there is a fishing pier in the campground that leads right out to the lake. The campground is very well manicured, and the bathhouses are new. There are only 4 single showers, and they are co-ed. There are trees scattered through out providing lots of shade. All sites are 3 way and back-in. The power and water strong. Our Sprint phone and Hot-spot worked well. The OTA antenna brought in channels from Philadelphia. There is plenty of room to walk the pup. We will stay here anytime we are passing through the area. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

There are not many options in the Philadelphia area, and even less that are open year round, so it was nice to find a nice, freshly refurbished, state park campground that is.

There were a few long term campers in this campground that rebook every two weeks, leaving for some confusion when I pulled in to find someone in the site I had booked. I had happened to book the site just before he rebooked. He was there all winter, and wasn't moving, but there were plenty of sites, so I just choose another, as it didn't matter to me. The host was very helpful and pleasant as he cleared up the confusion.

Bath house in this park is brand new and was very clean and well designed. Sites seem to have been all redone and were level, with all hook-ups working well. They were also well spaced and easy to navigate, most were in the open with just a few trees around. The park itself is easy to navigate with paved interior roads and not far from US301 or I-95, but still quiet at night. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Upgraded state park facility in Bear, DE. Park is slightly confusing to get to. Be sure to enter the campground address, not main entrance to state park. Site was barely long enough for our 42' fifthwheel and dually truck. Site sloped "front to back", (had nose up so high I was able to walk under it without stooping!). However, back of trailer was only about 2 feet off the ground. New hookups (w/e/s) were mid-coach and easily accessible. Walking distance to the pond for fishing (need a license).

To enter campground, from Rt. 896, take Red Lion Road (NOT Howell School Road). Follow Red Lion Road to entrance of campground. Beware there are low hanging branches at the entrance. Know your site number, as the whole 3 days we were there, we never saw anyone at the main gate house. We camped at Lums Pond State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
