Stayed in C01 loop, just about full. Easy back in site plenty of room and decent site very near bath house. Water still on at site even though it was very cold. D loop had some campers. Nice trails. Getting firewood was a task and wood looked like it balsa wood, dead and burned too quickly. Never saw a park ranger. Overall nice campground, Delaware State has nice campgrounds, we will visit again. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

GPS took us to the park entrance, but the campground is on the other side of the pond. Signage could be better. Campground was nearly full, but very quiet and peaceful. Kids trick or treating through the campsites, better behaved and better costumes than at home. Nice walking trails, shaded and level lots. Will definitely be back, Delaware has awesome State parks. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

All the sites seemed to have very heavy tree cover. Didn't bother us, but solar or satellite might be a problem. A loop is right next to the activity field and pavilion. It was quiet during our visit but might be louder during peak season. Nice hiking trails around the pond.

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

The camping loops are oddly configured like gears in a cog so some of the sites are very close together. The sites are all back-in and heavily wooded which could create issues for wider trailers and vehicles. Because of the closeness of the sites and the heavy tree cover, campfire smoke can be thick. Campfires are supposed to be for cooking only, but that rule did not seem to be enforced during our stays. There is only one bath facility and it is closest to loops C & D. If you are in loop F or in any of the walk-in tent sites it is a bit of walk to the bath house. There is no parking at the bathhouse so you have to walk to get there. Like most campgrounds, the cleanliness of the bathhouse is dependent on the number and age of campers and whether or not it has rained recently. We stayed here twice in June for 3 nights each time; on weeknights the bathhouse was very clean - weekends when the water park was open, things were not so tidy in the bathhouse. The lakeside hiking trail is very nice. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very disappointing. When I called to make the reservation using Reserve America, I asked about the showers / restrooms and was told they were right near me...NOT! Two loops away and no parking. The site we were assigned was level but heavily treed. So bad, I damaged my truck. I couldn't se the tree as it blended into the background. While there is a camp host, they never came around to stop the noise from the other campers on our loop. Cigarette butts and trash all over. I'll find somewhere else to stay next time. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

One of the few parks near me that are open year round. Only 2 loops open year round, I think. They're adding freeze proof water faucets so that might change in the future. Pondside Nature Trail always clean and very well maintained. Takes about an hour or less if you move along. Obviously, longer if you meander. Can get crowded if it's a nice weekend. Definitely don't stay there once the nearby water park is open or once the warm weather starts as the sites can be pretty close together. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

There are (5) Camping Loops but this time of year, only C & D Loops open, we were on C-7 which backs up to the Lake Trail so you have no Campsites behind you but only 2-3 Campers here at this time of year so very quiet. The Website said the Water would be off due to the Weather but C-Loop looks to have been recently upgraded with new Water Spigots and Power boxes with 20-30-50 Amp and a Night Lite. Since it was below Freezing I taped some Heating Tape and Insulation and Water worked fine for our stay of 14-Days. Campsites are flat, dirt/sand, close together, too close for us but great in the Winter. No Laundry Facilities, Camp Store closed, however Host can supply Firewood. Nature Center open, worth a visit, several trails. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed for two nights at Killens Pond in our 30' TT. The sites are very close together. For many that may be perfectly acceptable. We did not enjoy it. Loop C was directly behind us and it was difficult to tell where a Loop B site ended and Loop C site started. Our fire pit was on the other side of a tree. The people behind us in C were with some people elsewhere in B. People were continually walking directly through our campsite to get to their friends. The laughed about our dogs barking every time they cut through. Their site was close enough that we could easily listen to their normal level conversation. For the most part people did respect quiet hours. This would be a good setup if there are a few groups staying together.

We enjoyed the Trick or Treating on Saturday night.

The 2.6 mile Pond Trail was very nice. it's an easy hike with several opportunities to view the pond. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Pond Side Trail is a nice, easy hike. The primary reason I am scoring the campground low is due to the very close proximity of the sites. This may be fine to some. We don't like it. We had issues with neighbors but that is not the fault of the campground. Most people were very polite and cordial. The staff was very friendly. We won't go back because it is just not our style.

Very tidy and comfortable wooded park. Great shad over campers for hot days... the camping loops were very social and the atmosphere was very friendly. Children will love weekends here! Everything about the park had great vibes... the water park, the trails and the pond water sports were all really pleasant. One can walk or bike to the water park from the campground. While entrance fees to the water park are not included with camping it's only five bucks! It's a great campground to stay over a weekend or to stop over on the way to someplace else north or south. We stopped after a week at DE Seashore State Park on our travels back to the Philly region as a nice treat before the vacation ended. Note: Larger campers can be accommodated but it's a goof idea to ask which loop is best. Looks as if D loop and E loops we're best suited for large campers over 22' up to fifth wheels and buses. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Water park is clean, newly updated and a lot of fun. The pond / lake supports great fresh water fishing. Canoes, kayaks and paddle boats available for cheap rental prices. Very nice nature center which is a new building (with kids programs and interpretive programs). Hiking trails and biking... you may hike or bike to water park about 15 minutes away from camper... 10, for nature center.

Campground is flat and heavily wooded. Entrance roads to camping loops are asphalt and make nice biking but connecting camping loop roads are packed dirt. Staff professional and friendly. Our campsite was not overly large for our 20' TT. No problems with our hookups. We didn't try the Wifi but had good signal on our Verizon. Most sites we saw were average in size and were plain dirt. Nice walking trails around campground pond, lots of possibilities for fishing. One issue we had was the only campground bathhouse lost water pressure while we were there. Large sites all staggered so you aren't too close to anyone. Lots of tent campers. Boat dock on the pond, no power boats. No WiFi, cable or satellite reception for TV and very limited on air TV reception all due to heavy tree cover. Many hiking and biking trails. We had two nice days and nights followed by rain all day and night the last day of our stay. the drainage wasn't bad, more sand than mud. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Motorhome.

Park is small...all loops are tight and narrow with lots of shade. They mix tent sites with RV sites and car parking is limited. Utilities are OK and sites are mostly level. Main road is paved but loops are compacted gravels. Short ride to Harrington for all shopping needs. Its an ok park for an overnight or two....but not my idea of a destination stop. There is a camp host on property if needed. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Site and roads are mostly dirt, loops are very wooded, may be too much since the trees held in the heat, but definitely plenty of shade. Lots of activities, trails and things to do in park. Water park was $5 per person and my children had a fun time. Cell phone service was fine, didn't try TV. Some sites were good size, some were smaller. My complaints are no wash station for dishes, and no alcove in shower to change, just a commmon area. Bathrooms and showers were clean. We camped at Killens Pond State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice state park campground, wooded with larger sites and foliage in between them. Our site was gravel/sand and only needed a little leveling. New electric pedestals and water connections at least in D loop. Restrooms and showers were clean. Nice walking path around the pond. We would camp here again.
