47 Parks near Altoona, Florida
Jul 2016 - $24.00
Beautiful park with shady campsites, mature oaks, and lots of wildlife. The park seems to be well maintained and the spring was awesome! Not having a sewer hookup was a minor downfall, but the difficult nature of their check-in process is my biggest complaint. Because of the long line to get into the park, they make RVers pull into a parking lot that does not have a good turning radius especially with a toad. Despite this, we can't wait for our next stay here! - TinyLivingRVer
Jun 2016 - $25.00
Beautiful, heavily wooded park with springs approximately 1/2 mile away. Located in and upscale suburban setting away from heavy traffic and noise. Beautiful and heavily wooded. Great retreat from civilization, but close enough for commuting. - Scenic Cruiser
Jun 2016 - $27.00
One of the few state parks we found that could accommodate our 42' 5th wheel, and had full hook-ups. We had a back in site but were able to maneuver in with enough room for our truck to fit. Park and site was nice and wooded. Site was shaded with trees. The firepit also was used as a BBQ. Tubing within the park. Bring your own tubes and save on renting. Bring chairs/blanket to sit after tubing and a cooler for food/drinks. They also had a snack bar. We were able to put our own kayak in for free. They also rent kayaks and paddleboards. Nice park. I would definitely stay here again. - ThisIsHowWeRoll
Jul 2013 - $28.00
We stayed here for a week and enjoyed the adventure. Two black bears tour the park this time of the year. The folks who are staying here for a long time stick together and persuaded the bears to move on. We enjoyed watching the ducks in the pond, which is full of fish. We have a geocaching hobby. This park was just what we needed to get into the Ocala National Park and other geocaching runs in the area. Good water pressure and friendly folks. - Jim M.
Feb 2009 - $28.00
This is a small, quiet park. The people we saw, including those running the park were very friendly. It is not an active park - it seems that many of the people are there for long periods of time and you don't see them very often. There is only one restroom and it can be quite a walk depending on where your site is. The woman's bathroom was cute and clean, but only one shower and two toilets. There was never a line and we were camping on Daytona 500 weekend, so that was a plus. It was an easy trip to the race and I would recommend it to someone who was just looking for an inexpensive, quiet place to stay. If you are looking for the party crowd, this is not the place! - JEG
Jun 2007 - $28.00
This is a very nice campground with a boat ramp and docks directly on the St. Johns river. It is off the noisy roads. They offer a boat slip at a discounted rate if you are camping. They also have pontoon boats for rent. Combination of shade and sun sites. All sites are grass, but they are level. They are in the process of installing permanent grills and fire rings at the sites. Very friendly staff. Definitely will camp there again. - jazzman
Jul 2010 - $40.00
The only available short term sites were out in the sun, all others were year rounders. There are nice sites on the river, but their web site is a little misleading. Pool was ok at best, has a nice kid's playground. Probably won't come back. - sammy the lot boy
Apr 2009 - $35.00
Park has definitely been getting spruced up. Have camped here for three years off and on as near Stetson University. This vist many buidings were resided and painted. Still in need of repair but definitely improving. The St Johns river is beautiful and they do have a boat ramp - ellasmom
Apr 2006 - $99.00
This is a really great campground. It is extra clean. The bathrooms are superior. The management is very friendly and you could not ask for anyone to be easier to get along with. Too bad the place is for sale. But do try to enjoy it while it's still there. - campfire
Aug 2014 - $70.00
We paid extra for a river site because we were told we could fish from the bank. The river sites are not in the front section, which appears to be for more short term RVers. The roads in the section to which we were led were narrow and a bit difficult to maneuver. Maintenance men had to trim some trees so that we could get to our spot and came back the next day to trim trees along the exit road. After setting up, we discovered that the gate leading to the dock was locked with a no fishing sign attached. I suppose we could have walked down to the river bank, but fishing from there would not have been possible because of the trees and mucky bank. We asked in the office about fishing and were told that we would have to go to other parts of the campground to fish. On the day we left, I had to walk in front of the motorhome so that I could be sure my husband could get past the cars and trucks parked along the road. The office staff and the full-timers were all very nice and the restaurant was good but we will not return. - dickens
Feb 2014 - $14.00
We were here for 5 months and have a very mixed feeling about this park. Many good things such as friendly staff, night and weekend security, large trees, paved roads and very level sites. Also the cable TV was great and way more than basic. The people were friendly except did not welcome snowbirds to participate in activities. Most all park is full time residents,so everything is set up for them. Other RV'ers only stay a short time and not the whole season like we did. The Wi-Fi is good but must pay to use.The rate is the monthly rate then you must add eletric usage. To give you the overall attitude of the park they even charge you 50 cents for a parking sticker. This you're told after you have checked in and they want that in cash. It's not the money; it's the idea of it! The restrooms and showers were cleaned daily, however way overdue for a makeover. - gpafrog
Feb 2013 - $25.00
This is a nice location. The park is on the St. Johns River. It has boats to rent , a launch ramp, and a pretty decent restaurant on the premises. The pool is the largest I've ever seen. It is fully enclosed and nicely maintained. It is an old park, pretty well maintained. It is popular with "snowbirds who return year after year. Most everyone knows everyone else, and they are a friendly bunch. The sites are very tight. They have used every available inch of space, and sites a very close together. There are "super" sites which is what I took on this visit. About the only thing "super" is the price - $650.00 per month. A three month stay gets you a $100.00 discount. The "super" sites are wedged in all over the park. They take a $200.00 "deposit" for electricity which is absurd! This is a gimmick to hold your money for a month or longer and collect the interest. The staff are helpful and friendly. If I do stay here again, I won't take a "super" site. Not worth it! - hankster36
Apr 2016 - $50.00
Nice older park with clean facilities and a large recreation center. My one and only complaint is short stay RVers park on dirt with no patio. - Grouper
Mar 2016 - $31.00
This was our first time staying, so the free day reduced our weekly rate to $222.45. Normal rate would be closer to $37 a day. You can never be bored here! They have eight pickleball courts divided into four for intermediate and four for advanced. We didn't use the pool or hot tub but it looked lovely. Tons to do in the area as it's next to The Villages. You do need to pay for the Wifi separately, but at least it was available. They provide cable hookups which we skipped since we have a tailgater and had a nice open clear sky. Many of the sites in the park are shaded.
Lot spacing was spacious with sunny/open exposure. Site surface was grass and featured a picnic table. - Da Keeffes
Jan 2016 - $50.00
Grass. Sand sites. Could have more concrete sites. Many ants in sand. Water hook up, PVC poorly maintained sewer hookup hard since in a cement Hole. Adequate room between sites But tons of oak trees and limbs fall in storms.
Office hours short, mail room run by Grumpy Ole Man. - Casy
Feb 2016 - $40.00
We have stayed here for 4-7 days on three trips to the area. The park is old but very well maintained. Many permanent residents, and the open sites are older but very well maintained. People are some of the nicest we have ever met. Very welcoming and glad to see visitors. If you enjoy tennis, pickleball, volleyball, etc. this park is for you. Indoor and outdoor pool very nice. We will stay here anytime we are in the area. Love it. - 4950
Feb 2015 - $27.00
We wintered here from nov 14 to april 15. Lots of activities i.e. dances, entertainers, shuffleboard, minigolf etc. 2 pools. 1 outdoor and one indoor. Nice restaurant by the outdoor pool. Open 7am to 3pm 6 days. Lots of activities. We will return next winter. - jmlsrpc
Feb 2014 - $40.00
During the "season" September to April, the park is hopping. Dances, events, all kinds of sports, and other activities abound. We have been six times in a few months. We are weekend campers. The people in the park are super friendly. Plenty of space for bicycle riding and walking. If you want to do it, it's there. We have enjoyed visiting this campground and will continue to go often. - bicyclecampers
Jul 2016 - $40.00
Very nice well maintained park and friendly staff. Currently has workout area, well stocked library and clean pool. Many full time resident so I'd recommend reservations especially during busy winter season. Close to shopping, movies and restaurants. - amimjs
Mar 2016 - $45.00
A lot of full-timers in this park. And, many of them need to clean up their places! Many are very, very old and in disrepair.
The office person was very friendly and professional.
We had no problems. Our site was convenient, although not very big.
Most have nice concrete patios.
It is not exactly pet friendly. They allow dogs, but do not have a fenced dog park. And, they expect you to go out in the dirt and mud in the front of the park near the highway to walk your dog!!
Most dog owners are responsible...perhaps the poop that is found sometimes...is from the bears!
Bears appear often at night in this park, although no one mentioned any issues other than they get into garbage sometimes.
I personally enjoy walking my dog on the paved roads throughout a campground.
It has a laundry room and a swimming pool and community room. I discovered a nice building hidden in a storage area that has work-out equipment...don't know who gets to use it. - Umbrella
Jan 2016 - $36.00
Needed to find something near Orlando area without paying some big dollars during high season. This was adequate. Not the prettiest place, had lots of long term residents. Nice staff and office help. Might stay here again if we need to see our friends in the area. - rwarner22
Jul 2016 - $30.00
The nicest and most helpful staff I have ever met! Very clean sites and pool area. The dog park us very spacious. Lots of planned activities. spacious grass sites with picnic table. the campground is open to the public until 5, but there is a lot of supervision - Dawlhouse
Jan 2016 - $38.00
We are here for Dec & Jan for our 1st visit. Took advantage of the monthly rates which saved us about 50% over the discounted nightly rate above. This family owned and operated facility is well maintained and improving. The pool, grounds, clubhouses, store, and especially laundry facilities are immaculately kept. Love the large modern machines that offer the convenience of plastic money if you have no quarters! ~ There are scheduled activities: games, dances, craft classes, toy car races, and fabulous food events including dinners, potluck, and ice cream social events. The sites are large, level, and most have new concrete patio slabs. The swimming lagoon and fountain are lovely. Not crazy about the sulfur spring aroma, but it won't keep us from coming back. - Jane and Bob Fulltimer
Dec 2015 - $45.00
Very nice park. We stayed in a space in the quiet section of the resort. Friendly helpful staff. Other RV's, some transient and others permanent. Restrooms, showers and laundry were clean. One restroom and shower facility appeared to be fairly new. The Roads are paved however they are narrow. - cudntherd
Jun 2015 - $31.00
Very nice people. Needed a place to stay before I went to Disney, and I called after hours. The owner told me to come on and told me where to park. I have a 31 footer with jeep being flat towed. Site would have been level except I didn't want to unhook. Clean restrooms and owners even woke up early so that we could get an early start. - Tomwillis
Sep 2014 - $35.00
Quiet, family owned park with plenty of shade. Interior roads are narrow with tight turns and low hanging tree limbs. The park is a maze of roadways with some roads as sites and some sites as roads. Be sure to get an escort to your site. Hosts are friendly and accommodating . Utilities are in good working order but are in inconvenient locations. They have a restaurant on location for daily breakfasts that was decent. The pool was nice but needs to be cleaned. Bathrooms were old but clean. The park is not big rig friendly or multiple slide friendly. The park has a lot of potential. We would come here again. - Mamaluca
Nov 2013 - $19.00
Rate reflects Passport America rate. Cons:roads in the campground are narrow and tight, the pool was not cleaned and the wifi was erratic. However, folks were friendly, the sites are reasonably level and shady. We spent a week, went to a couple of ice cream socials and had interesting conversations with the owner, Lewis. Clean up the leaves and clean the pool and I would give it an 8. It is a campground, not an RV resort. - kcook
Feb 2008 - $20.00
NACC should be ashamed to list this park in their directory. We had reservations and when we arrived they said we could pick from either of two waterfront sites. One site had no water and the other had a broken 30 amp electrical plug. There were several large boat hulls rotting in their cradles next to the sites. The majority of the trailers in the park were permanent units in desperate need of repair. We elected not to stay in this park and recommend you do the same. - Dave and Joan
Mar 2005 - $18.00
This place is unreal. I won't sit here and run this place down, but don't take your family in there, please! - Jimmy LaFoe
