Each campsite has plenty of room between them. Springs are about a mile away from the campground but easily done by bike. Several trails lead into the campground. Saw several turkeys and deer. Rangers were friendly. Springs were nice but crowded. Prices at gift shop were reasonable. No seeums were bad around 3-5 pm. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Bring bug spray! No seeums were very bad during several hours a day. Biking is the best way to get to the springs. Bring a lock for the bikes because they are not in visible when you are in the springs.

Great campground with lots of hiking trails and easy biking on the park roads. As always, rangers were very friendly and helpful. Sites were roomy and level, but not a lot of privacy. Most have hammock posts. Bring plenty of skin so soft or Deep Woods as the no-see-ums are blood thirsty and a real pestilence. Bathrooms were clean but a little dated, but hot showers with decent pressure. Good cell coverage and lots of OTA channels, plus Apopka has all you'll need close by. Swimming in the spring was great (70 degree water) and the area is large so it doesn't feel crowded even with a lot of people there. Park is popular for day use, so you may wait 20-45 minutes to get back into the park from a morning bagel run. Lots of wild turkeys wandering the park, great photo opp. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wakewa (pronounced "Wakeva" by the locals) is a large state park in an urban area; large enough though, to isolate you from the neighborhood - all except the traffic noise which was always present in the campground. Most sites are adequate size, some a little tight, but there is pretty good privacy between sites. There are grocery stores nearby. The spring and stream from it provide a good place to swim and canoe/kayak. Rentals are available if you don't bring your own. Fairly long hiking trails and board walks through the wooded areas. Park staff were all friendly and helpful, except the one who checked us in on our arrival. He was very terse; must have just been a bad day for him. Upon leaving, we were confronted by a stopped up dump station drain; other campers said it had been that way for "days". I reported it and the staff seemed to be surprised. Maybe so. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Campground is clean and not very packed with campers. Spaces seem to be spread out. Weekends during the summer are very, very busy at the springs. They do close the gate to day people when the spring in considered full. Be mindful of wild life, especially bears. Walking or biking to the springs from the site is about 2 miles, would recommend driving, if you can find a spot to park. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Bring sewer extension.

Prepare for heavy crowds at the spring if you prefer weekend camping during the summer.

Watch out for bears, they are there and will wonder into the camp at night.

Beautiful park with shady campsites, mature oaks, and lots of wildlife. The park seems to be well maintained and the spring was awesome! Not having a sewer hookup was a minor downfall, but the difficult nature of their check-in process is my biggest complaint. Because of the long line to get into the park, they make RVers pull into a parking lot that does not have a good turning radius especially with a toad. Despite this, we can't wait for our next stay here! We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

One of the few state parks we found that could accommodate our 42' 5th wheel, and had full hook-ups. We had a back in site but were able to maneuver in with enough room for our truck to fit. Park and site was nice and wooded. Site was shaded with trees. The firepit also was used as a BBQ. Tubing within the park. Bring your own tubes and save on renting. Bring chairs/blanket to sit after tubing and a cooler for food/drinks. They also had a snack bar. We were able to put our own kayak in for free. They also rent kayaks and paddleboards. Nice park. I would definitely stay here again. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to Rock Springs/Kelly Park where you can also go tubing. Make sure you arrive when the park opens in the summer. They only allow a limited number of guest parking. Mt. Dora, a nice place to visit, is 25 minutes away. One hour from Orlando but feels like a world away!

Beautiful, heavily wooded park with springs approximately 1/2 mile away. Located in and upscale suburban setting away from heavy traffic and noise. Beautiful and heavily wooded. Great retreat from civilization, but close enough for commuting. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Trees are in their natural state, that is some hang quite low, making drivers pay close attention on park roads. If your RV is very tall you WILL want to watch your turns where there are trees.

We stayed 3 nights. The spring is very nice to swim in. This park is a great place to have bikes as the spring and fishing hole is very far away from the RV park. The "Noseeums" are nasty after around 3 in the afternoon. It is a nice safe park. The main road is very close to the RV park and can be loud sometimes. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

A little piece of heaven in a very busy area. About 1/2 hour north of Orlando. Really nice state park with a beautiful spring you can swim in. It does get crowded on warm days. Campground is very nice and you sorta get the feeling your in the wilderness. Highly recommended if your in the area. Verizon worked well. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are huge and far apart. Next year all sites will have full hookups. Great trails and the natural springs are awesome! Rangers are helpful and friendly. Good roads to bike on. We are coming back again for a longer period of time. Bathrooms and showers are clean and we'll kept. Lots of wildlife and peaceful. Absolutely loved it! The site was very clean and level. There were other campers within view but they were quiet. We didn't use the shower facilities but they were within walking distance. There was water and electricity hookup and the dump station was at the entrance of the loop with dumpsters. The spring water swim area was nice but can get crowded during the day. They have kayak rentals and you can bring your own but be warned, you will carry it quite a distance to the launch area but once you get there the river is really quiet and such a nice relaxing ride. You can also stop at the bar on the water for food and drinks. You'll see a lot of gopher tortoises and while we were sitting at our site a young buck casually walked by and later some wild turkeys. Overall it was a very nice stay and we will go back again. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was a family trip. We were looking forward to swimming in the spring, however it was packed. Unbelievably crowded at all times of the day. From the campsites, you have to drive over to the springs, as the hike is too far with small children. There is a lot of parking for the spring, however all spots are full by 10AM. Park has succumbed to careless litter. Bandaids, mask parts, cigarettes, and food containers in and around spring. Hundreds of people in the water and no restrooms nearby. You can't leave the park to grab anything from the store, because you will be in a long line, that extends down the main road to get back into the park. The hiking trails were very nice. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We recently spent four nights at Wekiwa and we loved it. We have a large fifth wheel (38 feet), but we managed to get in our spot without much trouble. Some of the sites are a little tight, but they are manageable with a big rig. Most of the sites have quite a bit of tree cover, which can make satellite reception difficult, but we managed to get ours working, as well as our antenna. There is not much foliage between most sites, so I wouldn't say that there is a lot of privacy.

There were some sewer hookups in the other loop, but we didn't have a hookup, so we used the showers at the bath house. The showers were acceptable, mostly just older and dirty from recent showers. We used them later in the day, so I suspect they received a lot of use after their cleaning.

The park is beautiful, with hiking, horseback riding and the spring. We brought our own kayaks and went to Kings Landing, about 20 minutes from the park to launch. They say it's 8.5 miles down river, but Mapmyride said we went 11.8 miles. It was beautiful and completely worth it! Kings Landing picks you up at Wekiva Island and takes you back to your vehicle (they also rent canoes).

We plan on returning when we are back in the area, it is a very beautiful park and we enjoyed our time in the campground. We camped at Wekiwa Springs State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
