We stayed at this park for four months, from December 2014 through March 2015, on an early registration special. We have been very happy here, with friendly and helpful staff, great community culture, good activities, etc. There is a nice, salt-water, heated pool and a hot tub available for guests, and the park has many park models and a few full-time residents. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Big Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Arcadia is a full small town with nice restaurants and lots of antique shops. There is a Winn-Dixie, a Walmart, some shops, restaurants and produce stands within walking/biking distance of the campground. There is a sizable sidewalk that follows Hwy 70 from Toby's RV Park almost in to Arcadia that will accommodate bikes, walkers and golf carts--nice!

Rate reflects a monthly rate. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Big Tree. This park is mostly park models that are occupied by snow birds. There is room for about 70 or so RVs, mostly on front street. We had a site near the office. Satellite reception was good. Streets are narrow so it can be tough backing into your site. We had two people to help us with the back in, so it was pretty easy. Our site was soft sand and about 3" off level. We did have a concrete drive for our truck and a brick patio for the RV. There was also a brick patio under the shade trees in back. Most streets are paved, but narrow. Lots of golf carts and bicyclist. Our site had lots of leaves on the ground which we raked up and the grass was not mowed during our stay. Warning: If you approach this park from the west on FL 70, you must make a u-turn at the stoplight in order to enter the park. For a long bed dually and 40' fifth wheel it is impossible to do. We wound up in a community next door that has narrow streets that we had to negotiate in order to get turned around. According to residents of the park, you need to turn right into Walmart so you can get turned around and come out at the stoplight. If we are in this area, we would stay here again. We camped at Big Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to visit Joshua Orchards. Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte are a short drive.

Older park but well kept. Managers are outstanding and staff very pleasant. We camped at Big Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Walmart right across the street. Joshua's Citrus has great fruit and the best orange ice crean I ever had. Home made from their own oranges.

By far the best church is Calvery Baptist Church on hwy 70. Pastor Scott is gifted in his preaching and the congregation very welcoming. Slims is a great dinner place and Mary Margarets tea room is a must for lunch.

We originally were planning to stay for two weeks, but decided to spend the month. Great monthly rate in the overflow section, only draw back is no sewer hookup, so you need to be prepared. Lots of activities and very close to Punta Gorda & Fort Meyers with out the crowds. Mixed age groups here, but everyone was friendly and there are daily activities for everyone. Already made reservations for next year. We camped at Big Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed our lengthy stay here last winter and will do so again this year. Beautiful campground near Super Walmart (across the street!), downtown and lots of eating places! Main problem is internet access is very difficult - one computer with dial-up (too outdated for most!), that you have to share in a small room with 400 other sites - no wi-fi that we could tell. Lots of activities (music, bingo, cards) for all - mostly snowbirds here for the winter - very friendly, home-like atmosphere. Sites are on nice-sized lots - privacy and space from neighboring sites. We camped at Big Tree RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
