Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This was the second time I stayed here for a week in February. Most of the people here in February are "seasonal" campers who stay from December or January through March or April. The campground is like a small, friendly city. The staff is excellent. If I had any complaint it would be that, for the number of campers, there are only three shower stalls in each of the restroom facilities, but there are several restrooms throughout the park.

There is an old section and a new section in the park. In the old section, the sites are very close together. In the new section, they are a good distance apart.

If you are a seasonal member, there are dawn to dusk activities. If you are just passing through, as I am each year, there are still things to do, like shuffleboard, tennis, etc. While I was there, a vendor set up a seafood stand with fish, clams, lobster, and scallops. I bought scallops, which were excellent when I cooked them. We camped at Riverside RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

NOTE: Our rate posted is based on an extended 6 month stay. Call the park to get the current daily/weekly/monthly rate which varies depending on length of stay. Park is clean, well kept, and all sites/areas offer wide, paved roads, full hookups on all sites (some with only 30 amp in the historic section), crushed stone/shell parking with varying sized cement patio surfaces. There is WiFi by Tengo park wide but some report great signal while others, not so much. 2 Swimming Pools with varying depth, 3 Laundry/comfort stations, and 2 fenced dog parks. Pet friendly but frown on retractable leashes. 3 differing sections in the park offer slightly different amenities. The "historic" section is the original part of the park. Does NOT have cable TV available. OTA is available via antenna and most sites can accomodate portable satellite where others are tree covered. Some snowbirds who stay for months also sign up for Centurylink DSL (up to 20MB) since this area has "landline" hookups on sites. The "Ponds" section is newer with wider sites, grassy areas but fewer trees. Cable TV (park ran) is offered in this section as is WiFi by Tengo and Centurylink DSL. Being a newer section, this area also offers little to no shade on most sites and because of this, can be more windy than the historic section. The "Lakes" is the newest section of the park. It is the most expensive of the areas, offers the largest sites in the park, has cable TV and Wi-Fi but no DSL for internet. Again, due to the lack of trees and overgrowth, shade and windbreaks are at a minimum or non existent in this area. But if you desire room to stretch out and value privacy, the Lakes may be the area for you. We camped at Riverside RV Resort & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Nav-a-gator restaurant only a mile away has a "doggy menu" so your dog may accompany you in the outside eating area. We like Venice beach that has a pier with Sharky's and Fin's restaurant. It also has a "paw park" if your dog likes the water. Basically, Riverside is a park that is located in a country setting, but is convenient to just about anything else you may want to do while in SW Florida. If you get bored here, it's your own fault!

Exceptionally clean and well maintained. The RV lots are kind of tight but no worse than other RV parks. Staff was helpful and friendly. Many different activities are offered and people are very welcoming to travelers. We camped at Riverside RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

We had one of their smaller sites with just 30 amp service, which was fine for us. They were filled up for the 2 weeks we were there and we were lucky we had a good spot near the entrance. This is a nice and friendly park with a lot of snowbirds. It is actually a pretty large resort with differing levels of site pricing. They have a beautiful dog park; one of the nicest parks I've ever seen. There's river access to the Peace River. We launched our kayak there and it was a wonderful river to explore. Since it was a warm February, the pool was great. The location is good for shopping with a Walmart, Publix, etc all within about 5 miles away. This location has a nice country feel to it, rather than being within a high density populated area. There's a lot to see and do in the Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda area. We camped at Riverside RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice park, friendly people and staff is helpful. Even though they have an Arcadia address, they are much closer to Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. Also very convenient to shopping and restaurants. The sites are all level, concrete pads and the majority are back in but they do have a few pull in sites. Lots of activities in the park. For a park this size the wifi is poor. They use Tengo which is expensive and you don't get a lot for your money. They are pet friendly and have a couple of nice dog parks but they only allow short leases for walking the dogs. Overall, nice park and nice area so we will definitely return. A really nice park and very large. It looks like a couple of parks in one with the older section being smaller and closer lots. We chose the Lakes section which is a few years old and has much larger sites but also costs more.
The park has all the activities you could want. It is mostly a snowbird haven during the winter months with lots of things to do. We hit the tail end when everything is winding down.
They just updated the WiFi and are still working on getting it to work in the Lakes area. We had trouble but would still come back to this park. We camped at Riverside RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The rate shown is based on the monthly rate plus the up charge for 50 amp service.

This is our third winter for a monthly stay in the Lakes section of the park. The Lakes addition was opened three winter seasons ago and offers wider open spaces than the older part of the park, albeit the sites are gravel with an adjacent concrete pad and picnic table. Roads throughout the park are paved. The Lakes also had previously offered very good Camplink provided internet service delivered to each site via cable and park provided modems. However for reasons that completely escape us, the Park switched to Tengonet wi-fi. Either they don't care, or hadn't researched Tengonet's dismal history of service at other parks that use them. The result has been almost no internet connectivity so far for the 12 days that we have been here this year. To make matters even worse, many in the park have started using Verizon and AT&T cellular data services, for which neither providers were prepared for, with resulting slow service on their networks as well. The park now says that the problems will be fixed by mid-January, but in December they were saying the issues would be resolved by the end of 2015.

On the positive side the park has a lot of residents that have returned year after year, and on the whole are very friendly. The park also supports many activities on a daily basis for those that are interested. The Park cable has a full complement of channels, however all are old analog signals. Over the air TV is very good with all the major networks accessible in HD. The Lakes section of the park had good satellite access throughout, however in much of the older sections of the park this will not be the case.

Our primary criteria for an overnight RV park is security, relative quiet and easy in and out access. For an extended stay location, we need decent internet access which Riverside unfortunately no longer has. We camped at Riverside RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed in the newer Lakes section which was a bit more costly, but the sites were very spacious and right on a lake. We even saw a few smaller alligators. Pad was crushed rock/shells, but the living space area was a huge concrete pad with picnic table and fire ring. The laundry facility was extremely clean, reasonable pricing ($2/load for each washer & dryer) and the dryer actually dried a full load in just one cycle (rare!). The pool area was very nice and quite lively. Seemed like a lot of people who had been here all winter and knew each other. No issue with satellite and they gave us a router for wifi which worked perfectly after we figured it out. The only issue with the park is that it isn't really near anything. Punta Gorda was a nice day trip and there is a Walmart close by, but not much to do in the area. We were only there for 2 days, so enjoyed just relaxing at the park. We would return. Felt safe and the staff were very welcoming. We camped at Riverside RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Your GPS won't be able to find this place but if you have the Google Map app, it will. Ask for directions when making your reservation. This is a very large campground and probably full during the winter months. We were escorted to our site, which is always a nice perk. The sites are grass with concrete patios and picnic tables. We had no problem leveling. The roads are wide, but have drainage "gutters" in the middle between the 2 lanes. They make driving in a bit bumpy every time you go over a cross road. We will stay here again when in the area. We camped at Riverside RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed in the new lake section where we had a large, crushed white gravel, back-in site on the water. The place was so new, grass was still being laid when we arrived and we had to wait two weeks before our area was sodded. The interior roads here are new, smooth and wide. Once we solved the Internet access issue with management's help, we had great Wi-Fi access. Cable TV could have been better. This is a large park with a lot of activities and amenities, so you should not be bored. Great access to Port Charlotte as well. We camped at Riverside RV Resort & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
