We were only able to get 2 nights at this campground as Florida State Parks are packed this time of year, so at a cost of $22/night we might as well see what it's like. We were pleasantly surprised. There are 2 loops with a total of 60 sites: 30 amp and water, no sewer but a dump station. You receive a gate code to get in and out before and after hours. Sites are just long enough for us and level. Easy enough to get into and very spacious. Lots of foliage, picnic table and fire ring. There are 2 posts at the back of the site which we guess are for a clothes line (or a hammock).

With all the trees, we couldn't get satellite, but picked up many OTA stations. Verizon signal good. There's a  paved trail through the two camping loops to the lake. The lake was great, the swimming beach, not so much, as the sand has washed away. We were concerned about the speedway next door as we had read reviews that said the noise was unbearable, but even though a race was going on Saturday night, we did not find it annoying. We enjoyed this little slice of nature. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Motorhome.

$22 per night was for a mostly level sand site with 30-amp electric and water. Site #25 was wide & long enough for my 40' motorhome and tow to park on very comfortably. Even after deploying the slides there was plenty of room for extra chairs and tables, if needed. The awning had plenty of room to extend as well. Each site has a heavy wooden picnic table and fire ring and is separated from other sites by lots of native vegetation. The park experienced a wildfire several years ago and when they rebuilt the campground, they installed sprinklers atop each water spigot to allow them to keep the area wet if another fire threatens. It was quiet during my stay, even over the weekend when many families arrived...well, except for when the nearby racetrack was active but at least they don't race all night long! When I arrived, a very personable ranger who provided lots of information on the park and the local area staffed the campground office; there are many activities available in the park and surrounding area. There are no manatees in Lake Manatee as the dam prevents the manatee from entering. The park is gated at night (code provided to campers) which gives one an added feeling of security. The night sky was brilliant with stars. The campground is about five miles from most any amenity and about 15 miles from Bradenton proper. If you want to purchase firewood, you'll have to go in town as they don't sell any in the park and picking up of downed wood is prohibited. AT&T cell signal was low but usable for texting and sometimes voice. My Verizon jetpack worked well for internet reception. I received 30+ digital over-the-air TV stations and many radio stations. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Motorhome.

Palmettos, pine, and oaks border the camp sites and provide reasonable privacy with about 15-20+ feet of vegetation between camp sites. Site was covered with leaves and pine needles. Most site appear to be reasonable level and should only need minor adjustments.

Bikes are limited to the paved park roads in the camping area and those which provide access to the lake beach and playground area and the boat launch area.

Hiking trails appear to provide access to the largest area of the park.

We were here on a Thursday and Friday night. The race track was open Thursday evening. There was some awareness of the loud speakers from the track, but it was very tolerable. I have been in campgrounds were the campers were noisier and more annoying.

Staff was very helpful and pleasant.

There is not any wifi in the park and my repeater did not pickup any nearby. Camp host indicated the nearest to be McD's about 15 minutes southwest. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Motorhome.

Spacious sites with good privacy because of vegetation between campsites. Paved roads and walking path to the recreation area on the lake. We were here to visit the Blues Festival in Bradenton and didn't use the swimming beach so can't comment on that. Very convenient to Bradenton which has a great River Walk area and not far from grocery stores and other shopping.
Only drawback was the noise from the nearby racetrack. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Motorhome.

Very easy access with lots of privacy. Most spots looked fairly shaded. Saw lots of rabbits in this park. More than we've ever seen in any other state park. Weeknights were not crowded. Should know that there's a speedway just down the street so lots of noise from this on weekends. Also, nice lake but limited as far as to size of boat motors. Nothing over 20 hp. Swimming area was loaded with lots of water hyacinth I would not swim in it. However, on Saturday a group of Boy Scouts were there clearing it out so you could swim. About 10 minutes from shopping and about a half hour to beaches depending on traffic. Overall nice quiet park other than the noise from the speedway. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

One of the nicest Florida parks. Big private sites, easy to access. A few walking trails. Beach not great, wouldn't swim because of alligator warning. Very quiet. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sites are spacious and well-separated for a quiet, private stay. Cell phones worked well. It is convenient to activities in Sarasota. Staff was pleasant, even stopping to tell us not to rush to leave since no one was coming in. This was our second stay here, and we will return. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park - clean, safe and quiet park (we were not there during racetrack activities). More convenient for water activities like canoe, fishing, etc. Hiking trails are located on staff roads. There are not really bike trails in the park, but a lot around Bradenton. We would go back there for a short stay. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We really enjoyed the quiet at this campground. Our site (#28) was very spacious, level and provided much privacy. Boating is permitted on the lake, there is a tiny beach and a nice sized park. It's a perfect place for a little r&r. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We loved this campground; it is (almost) everything we look for in a good campground. Every site is wooded and private. There are other campers nearby, but they are not right on top of your site. The site was clean, had a fire pit, a picnic table and had 2 posts for us to set up our hammock. The bathrooms and showers were very clean, the shower water warm. Lake Manatee is a 3 minute walk and is a pretty lake, although we would not recommend swimming in it. The lake has a designated swimming area, but it was mucky, and there were alligator warning signs. The campground host was very friendly, and even drove up in the evening in his cart offering cheap firewood. This is a state park and so does not have a lot of the things you would find in a private resort such as pool, games, etc., but it had everything we look for in a park: peace, quiet, privacy, nature, and cleanliness. We strongly recommend this park to everyone looking for these things. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Motorhome.

There are probably a couple of sites that would accommodate a 40' RV and tow vehicle, but the one we booked wasn't one of them. The trees and the narrow winding road make it difficult for a big rig. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

No full-hookup available and the sites are very tight. We hit several trees maneuvering to, into and out of our site. They really need to clean up the trees if they are going to allow 40' RV's to make reservations. Otherwise, great private feeling sites with fire ring & picnic table. They sell firewood at a reasonable price at the ranger station. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Motorhome.

Generally the 60 EW sites are large and secluded. All have fire pits. Beware of the squirrels. They chewed holes in my 2 new freshwater hoses. The rangers are aware of the problem, but apparently do not wish to resolve it. Placing a bowl of water next to the hose, as the rangers suggest, does not satisfy the squirrels thirst for water. There is no internet, cable, or laundry. While the park extends along three miles of Lake Manatee, swimming is not advised because of alligators. There is a boat launch and fishing dock, canoe and kayak rentals are available. The walking trails are rather boring. There is only one ranger led activity; a weekly evening owl walk. Unfortunately there there is a noisy racetrack a few miles up the road, so you may wish to inquire about race dates. Two miles down the road is the O’Brien Family farm where you can purchase fresh produce. As well the farm has a strawberry u-pick. No bending necessary as the berries are hydroponically grown. Despite some of the drawbacks, we thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay, especially nightly campfires and walks around the campground. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice and well laid out state park on Lake Manatee. Lake is 2,400 acres in size and around 12 feet deep, you can swim or fish here if you wish. You will find no Manatees in this lake due to a dam on west end. Park has two large rings with RV sites around the rings. A bathhouse sets in center of each ring. Sites are super size, hard packed gravel, level, wide, deep, clean, with good 30 amp power, water, fire ring, and a table. You feel like you are parked in the woods and have lots of trees and ground cover around the site. Hard to see other sites close by as you are over a 100 feet away from others. Playground equipment for the kids near lakeside. Staff was very helpful at check in. You have good roads and walkways in park. Bathhouses were all clean. Verizon cell and 3G card had five bars and was super fast here. You will hear a little road noise from Hwy 64 to the south of park, not bad. Park has dog clean up bags all over the park and I did not see any dog land mines on the ground to step on. Park has recycling cans for everything, use them. Dump station was super size, no problems to get in and out. Gates are locked at night and you have a code to get in. Rate was for FL Senior. We camped at Lake Manatee State Park in a Motorhome.
