We spent 2-months over the winter and 3-months the prior winter at this resort. Many of the sites can handle larger RVs, the reason we initially chose the resort was their site size (larger than what you can typically find otherwise in Florida). Downtown Cedar Key and the general area is interesting, it has some restaurants and things to do, otherwise the location is a little remote (i.e., if you want a good grocery store (in my opinion) you need to travel an hour, there are options closer but they are limited); however there are some great local places to purchase clams and oysters. This resort is quiet and prettier than many other commercial campgrounds/resorts we have stayed at in Florida. The resort also has many very nice regulars (some who own lots here), who seasonally stay at the resort. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Cedar Key RV Resort is located about 7 miles from the coastal town of Cedar Key, Fla. The interior roads are paved and all sites have asphalt drive and nice lever concrete parking pads, large patios and are nicely spaced from one another. Most of the sites are shaded with old oak and pine trees. About 30% of the sites are open with a few young trees. It is clean and well maintained. At check in, we were given a calendar for the month listing daily events such as; chili cook offs, quilt sessions, water exercise, social hour and games and so on. Every day in the month of March had something going on. The campground WiFi was problematic. We were constantly dropped from the service and when on found it very slow. We gave up on the WiFi. Verizon had 2 or 4 bars LTE service. Cable had 10 or so channels, mostly major networks. Hook ups are conveniently located in a modern pedestal containing cable, power and water. Sewer hookup is a little odd. The pipe is at the bottom of a block of cement approximately 15 X 15 X 6 inches deep. It is impossible to get a hose with a 90 degree elbow to seal in the pipe. This is a nice place and we would come back. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

The park is well laid out and easy to navigate for any size rig. All roads are one way. The spacing was done by someone who understands RV "privacy" rather than maximizing sites. Most sites are offset and have plenty of room. Utilities are easily attached, with good power and water pressure. Cable and wifi are very basic. We found the staff to be friendly and efficient. There is no store on site to purchase anything. If you need propane and other RV stuff, like bathroom tissue go to the RV park next door. There is a gas station at the entrance so gas and diesel are readily available. There is plenty to do in the area - lots of boating, fishing, kayaking and hiking (walks) in an abundant number of preserves. Be sure to visit shell mound and take the driving tour at Swanee river preserve. Of course the town of Cedar Key is good to visit as well. OR, do nothing - the campground is quiet and relaxing. We will certainly return. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The best breakfast/lunch/coffee in Cedar Key is at the shop on the corner of 2nd street (598 2nd st). It is called 1842 Daily Grind and Mercantile. Only open 7am- 2pm. In Cedar Key there is a basic auto parts store and a basic hardware store. There is a "Market", but is expensive and not very good. If you really need supplies drive 19 miles to the town of Chieftan.

Stayed one night on my way south. I got the impression that "one-night" stay people are not valued. There is a cheaper RV Campground right across the street that I pulled into by mistake. It did not look as pristine as Cedar Key RV resort, but I would try it if I was in the area again. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a snowbird facility but has all 5th wheels and motorhomes. No park models. The people are all friendly and helpful. The pool was kept covered but if it was warm enough and someone wanted to use it they would uncover it. There was a nice drainage dip behind our site that permitted our dog to play with her ball with minimal interaction from us (she was on her leash). No burrs or nasties when we were there. We stopped as we traversed from Tampa area to the panhandle. We would stay again. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Don't miss the downtown area. It's a little quirky but fun. Make sure you go to Tony's for their award winning clam chowder soup. I think it's the best I have ever had.

We stayed here over a holiday weekend. The staff is nice, helpful, and full of local knowledge of things to do. The sites are roomy and most are plenty long enough for just about any type of rig. We stayed in one of the three pull-through sites. The sites are well maintained and all are full hook up. The bathhouses are clean and in good shape. However, there aren't many toilets or showers, so if you want to use them, you may need to wait in line. Most everyone just uses their rig's facilities, anyway. Most site have patios with picnic tables. We thoroughly enjoyed the area. Plenty to do in Cedar Key - sightseeing, boating, fishing, good restaurants, etc. The people were nice and willing to talk. We visited a Manatee Festival in Crystal River (45 minute drive). The Cedar Key area is off the beaten path, so you may need to travel to get to other things (theater is a 30 mile round trip). However, this is exactly why we came here. Relax and enjoy old Florida. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Don't speed on FL-24 to the campground. It has a couple of LONG straightaways and many times there is a local deputy sitting along one of them. Get out and enjoy the area. Visit the Visitors' Center in Cedar Key. She is a wealth of information.

If you do not have a surge protector, stay away from this park. This is a very nice park, level concrete pads, easy in and out but it has serious high voltage issues. We stayed here about 10 months ago. Our surge protector shut us down several times due to high voltage. I had a mobile tech come out and he changed my 50 amp head and said that was the issue. We left the next day and everything seemed fine. A few months later I had the 50 amp power cord replaced just to be safe. Everything was fine for several months. We just went back to Cedar Key and had exactly the same problem. Voltage in two different sites was over 132V. The manager told me that they had never had a problem. I called two mobile techs and they both laughed and said that park has serious electrical issues. Fair warning! Don't visit unless you have a good surge protector. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Rate is weekly rate with Good Sam discount for 3 of those nights. This is one of the nicest parks we've been to as far as sites go. They are very spacious for a private park, have concrete pads and patios, and all roads are paved and wide. Almost all sites are back-in. Full hook up 50 amp, nice and level, cable TV (no over air channels). Pedestals are marine style, all very nice. Park is super clean and beautifully landscaped and maintained. There is a pool and one pickle ball court and one shuffleboard court. Also a clubhouse with a few organized activities. Not too much to do in this area. Cedar Key is a small old town with a few shops and restaurants. Fishing and boating seem to be the popular past times. Wi-fi was hit and miss when park was nearly full. Would have rated this a 10 if wi-fi was better and there was more to do in the area and park. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Neat and clean campground. Stayed 2 days. Nice pool. Washers and dryers outside. Very quiet. Good place go walk dogs. Small fenced dog run. We drove to Cedar Key to visit the shops and eat lunch. Very old Florida. If driving a motorhome, plan ahead for parking. Best to go mid morning before it becomes crowded. Excellent campground for older folks like us, prob not for families with children. We would return. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed for 3 nights 2/16-2/19 2017. We really enjoyed this RV Park. Probably the friendliest people we have run into staying at an RV Park. Staff was very friendly and they offer staff to guide you to your site if needed. The park is well-laid out with concrete pads and ample space with grass between sites. Park is very clean. They have a large clubhouse with a full kitchen. Pool is heated and had Pool aerobics class on Saturday. Also free pancake breakfast. They offer a community firepit as there are not individual firepits on your site. Park is easy to navigate even with big rigs. Most of the campers appeared to be seasonal and return every year. Bath house was very nice and clean. Very dog friendly and provide a small fence dag park but there were plenty of nice green paths near the woods to walk your dog. We would rate this park a 10 except for the cable TV and wi-fi. Small selection of cable TV channels and channels were fuzzy at out site. The wi-fi was slow. Their rates vary by season and we paid approx. $43/night with our Passport America discount. We would definitely stay here again & look forward to going back. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cedar Key is about 8 miles away and is an example of 'Old Florida' without fast food restaurants and stores. We had lunch at Carlin's Steakhouse on the water and would recommend the fish & Chips and the fried Shrimp. We also had lunch another day at Tony's for their world famous clam chowder and it was excellent. Also stopped at Holey Moley donut shop and their donuts looked amazing but we did not indulge.

Overall Rating:

A very nice campground in an off the beaten path, part of Florida. Good location for kayaking and just kicking back. Single lane, one way asphalt access roads. Mostly level concrete sites with concrete patios and generous separation of sites (especially for Florida). The turn off of FL 24 onto Shiloh road is somewhat blind as to oncoming traffic with big rigs probably needing to swing wide at the turn. Access roads in the park are narrow, but perfectly doable in a big rig. Some turns require some extra care (watch out for the low lying stop sign on the inside of the exit turn).

Power ok, water varied but mainly on the low side (40psi), sewer connection is recessed about 4" so a standard Camco elbow won't reach: needs a donut or a riser. Wifi environment was very noisy with the APs having poor to fair signals. Two of the 3 APs would not connect to my router, although they did connect to my Mac. Speed was adequate to poor. Verizon 3 to 4 bars with adequate to abysmal speed. Speed issues for campground wifi and Verizon were mainly in the early evening. TMobile varied from 1 bar of 3G to 1 sometimes 2 bars of LTE and would not maintain a data connection.

Most sites would have no issue with satellite access. Full recycle on site. OK road bike riding in park, on Shiloh Rd, and on FL 24. We would stay here again. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Easily one of the best campgrounds we've stayed at since we retired a few years ago. Large concrete pads with full services. Staff were very friendly, as well as other campers staying here for the winter or just a few days. Almost everyone had dogs so it was a daily parade of friendly and beautiful breeds from all over the country. Club house is large with exercise room and large screen TV, which was used during NFL playoffs with snacks and drinks brought by fans. Already made reservations for next January. Deep discounts for staying a month or more. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of places for day trips and the local fishing out of Cedar Key or Steinhatchee is fantastic. Plenty of springs to visit such as Manatee Springs State Park, Homosassa Springs or Silver Springs State Park. Tony's restaurant in Cedar Key is a must for clam chowder and the art shops exhibit and sell local works. Wilson Wood Shop is a great place to stop on 5th street to visit and hear older stories of Cedar Key from a man who has done it all!

First time at this park. Easy to find, located off 24, good roads for big rigs. Most sites are back in, concrete/asphalt, long and close to level. Most sites are also spacious with some with shade. There is an outdoor pool and clubhouse. The laundry room is also outside. There is a small dog park and a few dog areas located around park. The park is very clean, no trash or dog droppings. However, there are sand spurs and fire ants. Also, the cost doesn't equal the value. Expensive for minimal amenities. The park is about 12 miles from Cedar Key, and is a must see. It was good for an overnight stay. We camped at Cedar Key RV Resort in a Motorhome.
