This hidden jewel on the "forgotten coast" of Florida is the most charming campground that we've been to so far. It's very small but, as its name indicates, it has the most spectacular sunset you can imagine. Our site backs up directly on the water to give us a serene view of the marsh. The island is basically a clam farm where fishermen lease acres of ocean floor at the Suwannee river's estuary to plant clam larvae. As a result, Tony's restaurant won the chowder competition up North 3 times in a row. You must try it even if you can't travel there. It's online. It used to be famous for making the #2 pencil bodies out of, you guest it, cedar trees. We took a boat tour of the island that educated us on its history, and on the conservation works that Universities are doing around it. Our trip was supposed to be an overnight stop, but we could not resist spending an extra day to tour the island. If it weren't for the biting no-see-ems insects, I would rate this place 11 out of 10. We certainly would like to go back. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very quiet park. The sites are very close together and sandy sites, but you are right next to the marshes. We backed up to the water and it really nice. This is a good stop over spot, not much to do into, but it is a funky town to visit. There is a restaurant right on site which had a decent breakfast. Everyone is extremely nice. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice at check in. Small rv park with very tight sites. But if you're on the water it's makes up for the closeness. A real shame they did not replace the docks that several waterfront sites once had. That would make up for lack if space. Nice thing about this location you can easily walk or bike into town which is the best. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Motorhome.

Cedar Key is a nice spot on the west coast of Florida. Its off the beaten path even in high season. The campground is very close to 'downtown' Cedar Key so easy to go in and out of town. Pros: The staff and campers were very friendly. Our site backed up to the water and we had lovely sunsets. This would be a perfect spot for kayaking. A laundry facility is available. Each bathroom is unisex, private, and includes a shower. There are only 4 for the entire campground so you sometimes have to wait. A laundry facility is available. There is also a small restaurant on site open for breakfast and lunch every day but Thursday. The restaurant was okay - nothing to write home about, but certainly convenient. Cons: The sites are very close together. The sites are also sand / dirt, so its very hard to keep your RV clean. We had to move to another spot after the first night and it was under a tree that dropped a lot of litter on our rig which was quite annoying. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Motorhome.

Old Florida, in the middle of nowhere.

Popular park with snowbirds and full timers. Has a great community vibe during season, with something to do almost every day if you are feeling social.

The onsite restaurant is affordable and was very consistent in food quality and service during our stay.

This park has made use of every inch of space they have so the sites are tight, but staying here is about the location and community more than the sites themselves.

This park was heavily damaged by a hurricane in 2016 so some things have changed from prior years. The docks no longer exist, but the mangroves are much lower so the sunset views are fantastic. They've also completely remodeled the clubhouse and hotel rooms.

Rate reflects monthly stay on non waterfront site. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is under new ownership and she's making dramatic improvements. My site was very level with compacted gravel, power was very good, WiFi was a bit weak and cable was a little grainy. The restaurant was closed (temporarily) as the owner was vacationing during the off season. We met the owner next door at the great little Tiki Bar and she's putting in a new dock and has plans for rental kayaks. GREAT PLACE and convenient to downtown. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Motorhome.

We really liked the fish at Steamer's downtown. Also had great fun renting a kayak at Cedar Key Kayaks at the small downtown park/beach and exploring other keys close by.

Friendly staff. Café on site. No extra space. First impression was that the place is like packed sardines. But, the campground is minutes(almost walking distance) from downtown. Jimmy Buffet-style bar next door called The TiKi Bar. Everyone was nice and there were group activities like pot lucks and live music around the campground bonfire. Beautiful sunsets. This small RV park is in need of attention. I think the internet pictures represent another era. The sites are very small and close to each other. Slides are about 3-4' apart from your neighbor. The power and water are fine, however bring 30' or more of sewer hose to attach to the system. The sites are muddy (in the rain) and uneven. Most of the buildings are rotted and in need of maintenance. This is a perfect location for a small trailer or motorhome. There is no beach, only mangroves growing and obscuring your view of the water. We will not stay here again. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Cedar Key is much like this park. It is old and unkept. The buildings are falling apart. The restaurants are closing and the prices for those still open are too high for what you get. This was likely a great location 10-15 years ago.

Great place to stay while visiting Cedar Key. Very affordable restaurant onsite that is open for breakfast and lunch.

Waterfront sites back up to the estuary where you can sit for hours watching the change in tides which also means the change in birds with each hour. We were able to capture dozens of top notch photos of various birds right from our campsite

Sunsets here are magical and this campground is within walking distance to the Tiki Bar that is at the Low-Key Hideaway, just a few hundred yards down the road. A sure to see attraction. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Travel Trailer.

This park has all the necessary facilities including a restaurant and waterfront. However the sites are very tight and disorganized in arrangement, and should your windows line up, one can hear conversation, etc. It is the closest walking distance to the historic town. If a visitor is not from coastal Florida, a warning should be given in regard to the tiny biting "no-seeums". The proximity to mangroves make these a real nuisance if there is no breeze. Downtown there are several great craft shops and an historic hotel. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Motorhome.

Step back in time! We had to do the Cedar Key shuffle to get more than 4 nights. First site was a back-in and there was not much space, but it was quiet. We had to move to a pull through which was right next to the Club House. Many dogs and no privacy at that site. Many repeat customers and they had their own community. Open fire pit fire going all the time plus a fire in the fireplace inside the Club house. Bluegrass music heard around the campground. On-site restaurant and homemade fudge available. No dog park and some dogs off-leash. Restrooms were clean, but no hot water one night and there are only 3. Sunsets were spectacular, but you have to walk through sites to get to the docks. Park designed for smaller RV's. We camped at Sunset Isle RV Park / Motel in a Travel Trailer.

Walking distance to town and public beach area. Cemetery was the best place to go for the dog to get some exercise. Town was quaint. It was like stepping back in time. Local grocery store had just about anything you could want. Closest town about 25 miles away, but had a great produce stand.

Very nice, laid back park. Good water pressure, 50 amp electric didn't fluctuate (and it was warm so lots of A/C running in the park and Wi-Fi was strong. Sites were a bit tight, but not really bad. Very friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant right on property for breakfast and lunch. Didn't check out the laundry. Lots of dogs with no special walking area. People were friendly and, for the most part, picked up after their dogs. Close to town with restaurants and shops. Relaxed time. We would come back.
