5 Parks near Crystal River, Florida
Feb 2016 - $55.00
We ordered a premium site at $47 in hopes that it would accommodate our big rig. Apparently Encore campgrounds add a "fee" beyond the campground fee that, with taxes, brought the price to $55. So they advertise one price and by the time you get to checkout you will see that there is a site fee and a resort fee.
The roads were narrow but paved. There was a large tree limb over about a third of the road in one place that long term occupants told me has caused damage to several RVs. Our site was long enough but at 90 degrees to the narrow road and if the sites across the the street hadn't had the RV set way back and if they hadn't moved their trucks we would have never gotten into the site. As it was it took a lot of maneuvering over about 40 minutes to get in. It had rained the night before and many, if not most, of the sites around us were surrounded by water. I would not recommend this campground for big rigs and would suggest that at the prices they charge there would be many better choices for less or the same amount of money. - Juandering
Nov 2015 - $26.00
It rained while we were here and our space flooded. Lot was rutted so badly we could hardly get out of the coach without falling. The only way that we found our spot was a fellow camper led us to it. Ask for a guide to take you to your site. Roads are narrow and full of potholes. Staff were friendly enough. We would stay again if overnighting, but not for extended stay. - bones1941
Sep 2015 - $25.00
Staff is friendly, park is clean and quiet. l would come back.
The best find is the seafood restaurant in the mall (Sellers). - Lindas Old Man
May 2016 - $35.00
This is a small, tired campground. Sites are a combination of scrub-grass, sand, and dirt with concrete patios and old, soiled, and splintered wooden picnic tables. Roads are asphalt but very narrow. Sites are very close, full hookup 30/50 amp with cable and free WiFi for daily/weekly stays. Big rig drivers will be challenged. Campground is well off the main roadway so it was quiet. Heated pool, no spa, store good for those who like to fish, but no groceries. Trees made satellite placement a challenge. Laundry facilities (not used) did not look inviting. Not really a family-oriented CG - nothing for kids to do. "Lake access" seems to be only a boat ramp.
I've given this CG a poor rating due to a reservation error and I ended up in an overflow area with a view of the maintenance shed and septic system leech field - seriously overpriced. - StephenK
Apr 2015 - $35.00
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Park has many seasonal and full-time residents. Most resident sites were well kept. We were led to our site and had assistance in parking as well as explanation of utilities. Site rental was full hookup 50 amp including cable TV and free WiFi on grass. We were unable to get free WiFi to work. Our site was open, so we could receive sat TV. Verizon signal was 4 bars LTE. Interior roads are paved. - eaglessoc
Oct 2014 - $28.00
This campground is a bit off the beaten track. It's on the north side of Crystal River so it takes 15 minutes to get to most of the things in Crystal River, and about 25 minutes to Homosassa Springs. It is a quiet campground with very friendly residents. Everyone we met were very kind and always sprung up a conversation. A fair number are permanent residents and there are also a large number of trailer homes but they look cared for. The campground felt very safe and rather homey. Lake Rousseau offers free wifi through tengo, you have to get a coupon for each device. We didn't use their wifi and simply used our hotspot. The signal for AT&T is pretty weak in that area, and Verizon LTE was weak but acceptable. We used our booster for better signal. The sites are some gravel, sand, and grass. Mostly level with the utilities behind the coach. There are a lot of old trees so many of the sites are fairly shaded. Our site (33) is nice and large, but the one right next to us had almost no camping area. The campground is situated right on Lake Rousseau with a boat launch area. The lake is not dog-friendly (alligators are present) but very pretty to look at. It also had a couple of dog park areas you could use. They have a swimming pool but we didn't use it. This is a good place if you're looking for quiet and perhaps some fishing. It's not a resort and there are not a lot of activities to do. The campground is quiet, pretty, and well-tended but a bit further away from town. We'd stay there again. - LifeRebooted
Feb 2014 - $11.00
Our nightly rate was based on a seven month stay. This is a wonderful campground about 8 miles north of Crystal River. Extremely well kept up. The laundry room is large enough and kept very clean and the cost is very reasonable. The sites are individually owned, so you rent from the owner, not the management. But, every interaction we had with the main office was pleasant and helpful. Most sites have a concrete pad and all have a concrete patio and picnic table. There are many activities available throughout the winter. Some of the people come here every year and some, like us, are just here for one time, but all are very friendly and helpful. There is a canal that goes out to the gulf coast within walking distance and a paved path along it for walking or biking. The sites are well kept up and not too close together. We're in a 40 foot RV and had room for our rig, truck, and a car at our site. We would definitely use this campground again if we wanted to be in this location. - RVKevi
Mar 2012 - $38.00
Very, very friendly people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Many of the campers are seasonal renters who return year after year. All of the sites are large enough to accommodate most any size rig. The Crystal River area provides lots of outside activities without the crowds of the more built up areas of Florida. - User2565
Jan 2011 - $35.00
Nice well maintained park, with paved roads and sites. People spoke, and waved as they drove or walked by. No cable, but satellite is good. Not a place for kids though, as it is mainly for adults. Price is right. Activities geared to adults, but much to do. - olgjaycee
Jan 2015 - $20.00
They list themselves as an RV campground but they are better then most 'resorts' we've stayed at. The entire campground is spotless. Pool is large and nice chairs and tables, 2 very nice rec areas, in winter they have a lot of activities, functioning and clean laundry area and the restroom/showers are large and immaculate. And no' no seeums'. Convenient to a lot of shopping and resturants. We will stay here again. Rate reflects monthly rate + electric. - horsefolk
Apr 2014 - $20.00
Recently bought a travel trailer and recd complimentary camping here. Enjoyed it immensely while getting acquainted with our rig. The park has lovely trees and a great staff. The WiFi and cable made it just like home. We especially enjoyed having room to play toss and romp with our big dog! - RKMoss
Mar 2014 - $17.00
This is a nice, clean park, with a beautiful pool, spotless restrooms, and friendly staff. There were planned activities with the other friendly campers. The park crowd was definitely older, and there are no kids activities or playground facilities, but there is a nice rail trail, for biking, about 10 miles away. There is also a reasonably priced RV supply store across the street - same owners. The road noise, particularly the "biker" bar down the road was annoying. Also, our campsite was really tiny, a mix of grass, leaves and sand, making it messy. Other campsites seemed bigger, and nicer, but the park was full. Although there was a lot of "regulars" at the park, most very nice folks, it was a little too quiet for us. - Winniecruzer
Apr 2016 - $35.00
This is a very large park with spacious sites and wide roads so even big rigs can maneuver easily. The site could have used the landscaping cleaned up some as it was getting a little overgrown with the palms and there was some fallen debris from the trees that needed picked up in my opinion. The park is very quiet and the club house and pool were quite nice. Rest rooms were the shower suite type with toilet and shower in the same room so you had your privacy. Laundry machines were in good condition with $1.00 to wash and $1.00 to dry. We enjoyed our 5 day stay. The area is all about fishing so bring you fishing pole. Lots of good restaurants in the area too. I would stay there again. - Ken56
Mar 2016 - $47.00
Our experience started out bad, because our promised discount wasn't honored, so we were forced to pay full price. The discount was for being a Sam's club and AAA member and promised to us when we made our reservation. The unfriendly management staff was only there once for a few hours and not co-operative at all. We find this kind of treatment almost fraudulent.
The showers are nice and private, but extremely dirty. They were only cleaned once during our entire four day stay. The pool was covered in tree pollen. Due to the fact, that our site was so close to the next, lights, all-night barking dogs and screaming kids became a quick inconvenience. It was our first time in this park and our last. - beecuz
Mar 2016 - $47.00
We stayed in this park several years ago and it has gone down hill since that stay. Many sites now have tents and out buildings in addition to the RV. They were not allowed during our previous stay. We stayed one night and moved on.
(Lot spacing was nearby and mostly shady, covered/forested. Site surface was gravel/sand and featured a picnic table.) - Plainjane
