We spent a night here visiting friends who live at Traveler's Rest ... who picked up the cost of our site for the night. Our site was large, level and I wish I'd brought my golf clubs as they have what appears to be a nice 9-hole course. Staff very friendly and helpful. Plan to stay here in the future. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Motorhome.

The only reason to go here is if you are a snowbird that likes a friendly community and plenty of activities to choose from. If you are visiting (and don't own) you will be placed "on the hill", which is a big grassy field. Yes, it is unlevel and the utilities are a little strange but that did not bother us. The focus is on activities since it is so far from any real attractions or even stores. We enjoyed the bike club, very nice people. We thought the entertainment was mediocre. There was a very talented pianist but they have to keep the volume down for all the hearing aids in the audience. The burgers at the Snack Shack are delicious, as are some of the soups and chowders. The rest of it is just okay, salads with standard lettuce, tomato, etc. with sliced lunchmeat and cheese on top. Nothing fancy. There is a nice produce market 3 times a week, great bakery twice a week and the food truck was good. Two things bothered me: the water is rusty so all my white towels came out dingy. I had to go to a laundromat in town, 35 minutes away for my new white sheets. Also, the dog park would be better if people understood dog park etiquette. One gate at a time, don't let your dogs crowd the gate when a new dog is coming, use the small dog section. I never saw anyone use the small dog side, probably because there is not a bench in there. Instead, they set aside prime hours in the big dog section for...well, honestly I think it is so people can practice agility with their small dogs. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Charlies' is the closest store, 5 miles away. It has a limited selection and is pricey but they make fresh sandwiches, and they're very good.

Overall Rating:

After staying a couple of nights in Tallahassee at a county park which had great views and a horrible bathroom, we spent two nights here, which was a marked contrast. Well-maintained park with full-time, mostly seasonal over-55 residents and a variety of RVs (many Airstreams), park models and mobile homes, plus a large grassy RV area off the golf course. Spots are roomy and generally flat (it had been raining, and the area was a bit soft when we were there). No pads, tables or fire rings, although this is generally not what you'd call a fire ring crowd, so seems fine. They do now have some sites with hookups that are not shared with another rig, so that is becoming less of an issue. We were at the very back of the parking area, with a view of a creek and golf course. We enjoyed seeing the Sandhill cranes on the course. Otherwise, not much in the way of views, and pretty much no trees or shade, other than at the far side of the park where some trees separate it from the golf course. Amazing restrooms, however, that have been updated recently. Tons of amenities if you want to use them, from a dog park to hot tub and pool, tennis, golf, etc. They even have free entertainment some evenings. Obviously, this is a real draw for the folks who live there, but you can partake as well. As you might expect in a retirement community, they have a lot of rules, especially regarding where you can walk with pets. The folks in the office, and the guy who takes you to your spot are all super nice and helpful. The park seems isolated, but it's just a couple of miles to I-75, and a quick drive to Tampa, Dade City, Brooksville and other cities. We enjoyed our stay and really appreciated the first-timers discount. Certainly worth a visit and a place to consider retiring to if you're in the market! We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Travel Trailer.

First off if you own a Airstream you probably know everything about this park, interesting history about how park was formed. Most campers here stay the whole winter so there is a real sense of community. Stayed at Oak View for a week. Residents and staff are very friendly, was greeted the next day by volunteer welcome committee with park information. This park is off in the boonies but you hardly ever need to leave they offer so much to do. Everything is super clean and modern. Salt water pool and hot tub, large laundry, good wifi speed. Caught a first rate comedy act on Sunday night, no extra charge! Will return. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for just one night, but we're very impressed with the service and care that went into our stay. Lots of permanent or long-term residents here, with room for temporary campers like ourselves as well. Very spacious area and we were allowed to choose the spot that we would like. Very nice facilities and recreation areas, when we left we found ourselves wishing we could stay and play for a bit! We knew we would be late and the office manager gave us the phone number of a resident who would help us once we arrived; he texted us to let us know he was ready and available to help any time. Hands down our most favorite park on our travels throughout the south, we will definitely stay here again. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Truck Camper.

I was here for a rally and stayed in the grass site area. Site was level with full service, however they are on the wrong side for a motorhome. Park had been set up for trailers and hasn't been changed. It is quiet and nice. Many park models and snow birds. Nice, would stay again. Sites not level (need wood to level), single water and electrical post for 2 sites, one would be wrong side. Road into golf view rutted and exit has limbs so be careful. Mowing starts at 5:oo a.m. and continues all day, noisy not serene. View is not too bad, have a snack shack (food is good), no discounts Jan thru March. Good as a stopover but would not stay again long term. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed here January 2016 in RV South. Have stayed on Golf View grass parking in the past. Clean park, lots of things to do. 9 hole executive golf course. Golf greens are horrible this year with lots of dead spots and sand coated. Golf view parking area is nice, but it would be nice to not have to track grass and debris into RV if they had concrete pads and were not so hilly. No cable available. RV South has more level spots, concrete pads and mini barns. You do have to sign a one year lease $3k and buy share of stock approx. $2.4k currently in RV South. It's an an old Airstream park and volunteerism is strongly encouraged. Volunteering does aid in developing friendships. They do have a large entertainment bldg with entertainment some free some not free and a nondenominational church service every Sunday. The park is a good 10-15miles from restaurants and grocery, and one hour to the west Florida coast, Disney, and Tampa area. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The place was empty so we had our choice of spots. This is a 50/50 campground where many people stay half the year and are gone in the summer. They have a pool, which was closed for renovations. Well maintained nine-hole golf course which is walking only (unless you have a handicap sticker). Tennis courts, basketball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, activity hall, library, laundry facilities, etc. This is a great place to live year round. Plenty of bike riding and bird-watching. Beautiful, tranquil garden area taken care of by the residents. We like to count the Airstreams and there were over 100. I believe someone told us it was an old Airstream park. They even have a little water area where you can put your toy boat in the water to race. We enjoyed the quiet beauty of the summer. 60 sites with 30/50 amp power and sewer. Electric sites are 60 x 30, not level and are grass, needed 4 inches under rear wheels when level. Bathrooms are clean, but can't use them between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. due staff cleaning them. Only 2 toilets and 2 showers for men 4 toilets in women's for park. There are no reservations - just a spot, some are worse then others, has a short flat golf course and many activities for men and women. There is entertainment, some free some paid. It is a pet friendly park, which is nice. Used to have cable but now none, but did not reduce the price since it was removed. Wifi is terrible, can connect some times other times can't, seems like the people that live here like to stream TV and Movies. They do advertise fishing, but it is on the golf course so have to not interfere with that and if you golf they have many leagues every day. This is not a friendly park like others I have stayed. Management seems very rude and I get the feeling they want the money nothing else. Good Sam rated it (facility) 8.5 (restroom) 8.5 (beauty) 9.5 I think they over rated it and should be (facility) 5 (restrooms) 5 (beauty) 7 because of the amount of people that use it. Only stayed because of friends, don't know if I will come back or not. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Motorhome.

Very quiet, out of the mainstream but not far off I75. We camped in the rally area with an FMCA club. The rally area is grass covered but fairly level and well maintained but no shade. Full hook-ups with 50 amp and free cable TV. The WiFi was strong and accessible at the site. You are escorted to your site with parking assistance. The pool, showers and restrooms are very clean and well appointed. The nine-hole golf course green fee was included in the rate. Stayed here in a motor home. Would definitely stay here again. Overall Rating:

This is a very pretty park. Even though we were given sites on "the hill," our site was almost perfectly level. The only drawback is that you have to park on the grass, so in the morning walking results in web shoes and grass cuttings being dragged back into the RV. The staff is very, very friendly. They do all they can to make your stay an enjoyable one. Cable TV was OK even though the number of available channels was limited. The Wi-Fi worked fine Thursday and Friday, but when the park became more filled on Saturday, it was impossible to hold an internet connection. Travelers Rest is like a small village: it has its own Fire Department. EMT's are nearby a able to respond quickly. There are tons of clubs for those staying long-term. The public building was huge. We had to share facilities with another club, but it all worked out. The nicest feature TR has is its golf course. It's only nine holes, but it appears to be well-kept. Maybe next year when we come back for our December rally, I'll bring my clubs. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Motorhome.

If you enjoy being away from it all, golf, tennis, a clean park with lots of clubs and activities then this could be the park for you. The only downside for short term campers is the camping area is more like an overflow area than an actual campground site. Camping is in a large mowed grassy field commonly referred to as the "hill". The roads are grass, there are no trees or shrubbery at all - nothing but posts with the hookups, which worked as expected. Everyone was very friendly,, but the campsites are disappointing - the place does grow on you though. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Price reflects Passport America discount, which was better than the weekly rate. Park was enormous. We camped here during the off-season, so we didn't have access to all the amenities available during the fall and winter months, like the restaurant and activities. The sites were grass and not very level. This is the only park where we have had to use blocks. The cable also didn't work, and because of large trees, we were unable to use our portable dish. There is no store onsite, and everything is a few miles away, but it was a decent place, and I felt safe there. As usual, we arrived after dark, and it was difficult to identify where the sites were. We parked by the maintenance building, which was a hub of activity each day, so I would recommend parking in the other lot, which I've been told was also more level. They have sirens when 911 is called, so you may hear those go off. The staff and residents couldn't be nicer. There is a golf course onsite if you're into that, and a nice little park area by the restaurant. We saw several deer, large birds, and other wildlife there. We camped at Travelers Rest RV Resort and Golf Course in a Fifth Wheel.
