Another very nice Florida State Park. There are three loops in the campground. The A loop is pretty open with no privacy between sites and is pretty busy and noisy since it is next to the kids playground and tenting sites. Loops B and C have a lot more privacy and shade with the trees and shrubs. All full hookups and most are big rig friendly. Some lovely walking trails through the woods, and since we were there off season, we were able to walk the 4 mile round trip shuttle road with our dogs every morning. Very dog friendly, but a big ding is lack of dog bags and waste stations anywhere in the park. Another ding is that they only recycle aluminum. We had clear sky for satellite reception, and surprising to us, AT&T data was useable. Decent Verizon coverage. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Rainbow river is pretty cool and decent to paddle on, but the crowds, noise, and development along the river turned us off. Luckily, one of our favorite fresh water kayaking areas, Silver Springs, is about a 45 minute drive, so we headed there several times.

I can only add a few comments to previous reviews. The laundry room in the ranger station has four washers and dryers which are in excellent condition. Washers and dryers were $1.25 per load. Cell service, T-Mobile, is good and clear sky for satellite. Dunnellon is within a 20 minute drive from the park. We launched our kayak from the park and paddled up to the spring head in beautiful clear water. The current was about two knots, distance was about a mile or so. The Blue Run in Dunnellon is a great bike or walking path, all black top paving. This is a campground not to be missed for Florida visitors. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Swampy's has good food and beer. Leave your vehicle there if you can arrange a pickup back to the campground and then paddle down river. Swampy's has parking for kayakers in a separate lot.

This is a great park n Dunnellon, Florida with easy access to the Rainbow River. The sites are large and level on hard packed sand There is a mixture of some sites that have heavy vegetation covered by trees and some that are more open. The facilities are all very clean and in good condition. The have a laundry room with multiple machines and a pool table here. There are hiking trails in the park but just up the road a few miles is a large park called Blue Run of Dunnellon if you want more hiking and biking opportunities. The river is gorgeous so get out your kayak or boat and enjoy a day on the lazy river. The water is clear in some spots and warm due to the spring that feeds into it. The rangers were very nice and the power was strong 50 amps. Some sites also have sewer connections. There's a walmart super center about 15 minutes away. There are fun restaurants and plenty of activities nearby like boat rentals, water taxis etc. OTA channels were decent. ATT hotspot was weak at 2.5 d/l but Verizon was good at 24 d/l. I was able to get ATT up to 6 d/l with the weboost booster.I did not try T mobile. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Large private sites. Quiet. Verizon cell service a little weak but available. Received a few local TV stations. Shower/restroom/laundry just a short distance away. Short walk to the Rainbow River. Canoe and kayak rentals available through the ranger station. Tubing available in season. Campground entrance is about 7 miles away from Rainbow Springs State Park entrance. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sites 1-43 are on two loops in a very natural Florida environment with plenty of tress, palmettos, etc. Sites 44-53 and the tent sites are in a parking lot environment with just site 50 having trees and shade. For our 40 foot fifth wheel, our favorite sites were 13 and 21 both of which were long easy back-ins with plenty of trees. While in the park we were visited by raccoons who drug off the bird feeders, possum, rats (yugh) and the bird feeders were kept very busy. We were here off-season but April-September they run a tram that ferries tubers back up from the tube takeout to the campground. The water entrance at the campground is an easy one mile paddle down river from the spring head. The park is well-maintained and the staff were friendly and professional. Wood is available for a $7 "donation." They do rent kayaks and canoes. You can also fish and swim at the dock and beach. This is natural Florida folks. It is beautiful. Enjoy. Interior roads are paved and sites are gravel and/or packed sand. Generally level and spacious. NOTE: If a Florida resident over 65 yo camping fee is 50% off year-round. Park is about 20 miles from Ocala to the East or Crystal River to the west. Take a drive to either for shopping or visit Silver Springs or the Crystal River. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Go fishing. Paddle up to the spring head or float down. We used Aquatic Wilderness Adventures to ferry our kayaks up to the KP County park and then took a leisurely float back down to the take out. Have lunch or dinner at Swampys and enjoy a beer as you watch others on the water. Not much in the way of "trails" but you can take some small hikes. We also rode our bicycles on the tram trail.

One of our favorite campgrounds for many reasons. Full hookups, well placed within raised and timber enclosed pedestals. Level, gravel surfaced sites with plenty of room and privacy for us, although some sites looked a little tight for the large rigs with multiple slides. Each site in our loop had a fire ring, grill, picnic table and clothesline. There are two loops, one with mostly open sites, some wooded and some tent camping, and a second loop with privacy for each site. The first loop has rest rooms and a large laundry room in the same building with the ranger, and includes a rec room with tv, pool and ping pong. The second loop (our preference) has two very nice bathhouses that were kept spotless during our stay, and each has a washer and dryer as well. You can rent canoes/kayaks from the ranger office at a reasonable rate and launch them (or your own) a short walk to the campground river access, where you can also swim in the crystal clear spring water. We really enjoyed the river and wildlife, which included eagles, cormorants, river otters, and even wild pigs in the campground. We also enjoyed biking in the campground, including along the paved tram road that runs down to the river (tram doesn't run in February). We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Blue Run park, just south of Rainbow Springs State Park and across the street from "Swampy's" restaurant is where the Rainbow River from the State Park head springs joins the Withlachoochee river. Free kayak launching from there, as well a great flat bike ride. Close shopping and a few restaurants in Dunnelon with Walmart and Winn Dixie. La Rue's ice cream shop and "Go For Donuts" are a must, as is Just a Cupcake with great sups, sandwiches and desserts.

This is a pretty nice campground, with decently spaced level sites. Some sites (like ours) were mostly open with no trees or privacy, while some others were heavily wooded and you can't see your neighbor. If you're visiting for tubing down the river you'll find this a great place to stay. However we found the campground to be a bit far from stores and restaurants. We also usually had no AT&T signal, and Verizon had 1-2 bars and was very slow in the evenings. There are several trails around the campground that were good for dog walks, but our dog did step on several stickers/goatheads. We had full hookups which was nice, so we didn't check out the showers. We were able to receive mail and packages during our stay - this seems to be common at FL state parks which we very much appreciate. Given the poor cell signal and distance from stores, we probably won't return, but if those drawbacks don't bother you, it's still a nice place to stay. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

We always enjoy our time here. They do such a great job keeping everything clean and nice. The rangers and the camp hosts are always so friendly each time we come. We live only an hour away but it always seems like we are in the wilderness. The sites are all separated with growth and have privacy. One of the finest State Parks in Florida. The river is beautiful to tube down in the summer, and kayak all year long. Kayak and canoe rentals are available too. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Small but lovely Florida State Park. As all Florida State parks that we have stayed in, this one was an excellent value with large, private sites and well maintained facilities. We were in site 8, loop C and it could not have been better. Lots of trees ringed the crushed gravel site. Campground was almost full but still very quiet, probably because the sites are big and there is good vegetation between sites...at least in loop C. Loop A is much more open and has less privacy. Loops B and C have great, very private sites. We rode our bikes to the river and watched a kayak rescue class. How fun! Park is about 15 miles from I-75 but was worth the drive...even for an overnight. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Having read previous reviews, we were somewhat wary of staying at this campground. However, much to our relief, this is a very well maintained campground and staff at check in were courteous and efficient, and ensured that we understood all the park rules and regulations. It was obvious that the park had noted some of the criticisms aired in earlier reviews and appeared to have corrected any issues.

Interior roads are paved and big rig access was fair. We had a very spacious site, plenty of space for our towed, lots of privacy between sites, a reasonable amount of shade trees, however we were still able to get a satellite signal. We also had a picnic table, fire ring and barbecue. Our site was a level back in and was hard packed sand and gravel and despite the campground being full, it was very quiet both day and night. The bathrooms were modern and clean and there were a couple of washers and dryers outside the bathrooms. There is a security gate 24/7 which we liked. Pet friendly with lots of trails to walk your pet, on a leash of course. No WiFi but we did get 2 bars of AT&T. We would stay here again, and our comments reflect sites in loop A and B, loop A is somewhat more open with less privacy. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The nearest Walmart is in Dunellon, about 6 miles away, there are plenty of restaurants in Dunellon, and we highly recommend The Front Porch Restaurant & Pie Shop for a wonderful meal.

This is a great campground, we really enjoyed our stay. A lot to do in the area. Level & well drained sites, river and spring nearby are beautiful. A few things would have made this a 9. 1. Store is terrible. Doesn't sell anything, no ice, and you have to have $7 cash to buy a bundle of firewood. 2. Be sure you read the entire email they send---pertinent and buried at the bottom--if you are arriving late you must call before 5 to get the gate code or you won't get in. 3. Tubing is seasonal--which I never saw written anywhere. We were disappointed to find that although it was spring break and over 90 degrees, it's only offered on weekends and ends at 3:30 so our Sun-Fri stay missed it entirely. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rent a canoe and go upstream a mile or drive to the main spring. You can also swim in the shallow river at campground. Nearby La Chua trail offers amazing wildlife viewing. Homosassa Springs, see Manatee through underwater observatory. We are at Blue Gator and Front Porch in town. Both ok.

Had a great full hook up site, very large secluded sites - camping area is well maintained and rest room are very clean. The camp store is no more and sitting there empty - rec room is a wreck and probably not even open as the back was off the couch and no supplies were out for the pool table and ping pong table. Fishing dock on the river had fallen down and looked like it had been that way for a while. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for a get away since it is close to home. Loved that it had sewer; however, bath house was very unclean. Hair in drain, toilet paper all over floor, toilet paper dispensers empty with the rolls sitting on top of them. Even after the floors had been "hosed down," (clearly as there was about 2 inches of standing water on the floor) there was still toilet paper on the floor in several corners.

Teenage campers in loop A where loud and unsupervised. Thankfully we were in loop B, so it was more quiet. Not much shade unless you choose sites 6-23. If this campground had camp hosts, it would make a huge difference.

On the positive side, it is close to the river, and has very reasonable canoe and kayak rentals on the campground property. Much cheaper than renting them from the vendor at the head springs. It is also close to town with restaurants and Walmart.

Would stay here again, but probably not on a weekend. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in the park for 5 days. Monday through Friday. Tubing is only on weekends this time of the year. Rented a canoe and had a great time. There are three loops I stayed in loop B site 2. Great level back in site. I have a 40ft 5th wheel and Ford 350 and had plenty of room. I checked out the other two loops and I did not like loop A. B and C were very nice. Only one pull through site per loop so if you need that have to make sure you get your reservation. Sewer location on site was a bit far. It was in back corner of site. About 20 ft. Power available was 20/30/50 amp. And water was great. I would definitely recommend this park. Saw deer and turkeys in morning while I drank my coffee. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
