This is a nice campground located about 10 miles west of I-10 close to Ocala, Florida. The staff was topnotch, friendly and helpful. All the sites are gravel (crushed shell) pull thoughts and are fairly level side to side but front to back, not so much. For the most part, the sites are oriented south to north which makes for a shady afternoon outside your door with ample space to enjoy the picnic table or a campfire in the fire ring. The lone bathhouse is not conveniently located. It was clean but well used and is due a refurbishment. There is no laundry facility on site. They cater to horses here but it does not impact the campground. There is a separate parking area for their trailers outside the camping area. The weekend we were here there were many riders enjoying their horses on the riding trails which originate in the park. There are walking and biking trails here also. Highway 200 was a little noisy but, for the most part, we didn't notice it. Off air local TV station were weak. We could not get NBC or CBS. There is no WiFi but Verizon had 4 of 4 bars LTE service. Shopping and restaurants are only a couple of miles up the road. This is not a bad place to rest for a night or two. We would go back. We camped at Ross Prairie Trailhead & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Wide spaces with plenty of room. Lots of grass. Lots of trails to walk if you want. Shopping close by. Camp hosts are friendly & helpful. Very reasonably priced. A little road noise but really very quiet. We would stay here again. We camped at Ross Prairie Trailhead & Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here 2 nights. It was quiet except for a little road noise. There are a lot of trails to explore. This is horse country & several of the sites are for horses. They also have a large day area for horses. There was plenty of space to walk our dogs as well. The park host is very friendly & helpful. The gate is closed at night but you are given the code when you check in so you can come & go as you please. We would definitely recommend this park. We camped at Ross Prairie Trailhead & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Even though we didn't have horses they were kind enough to offer us a horse site in order to accommodate our 40' motorhome. The bathrooms/showers were clean. We loved it here. The sites are spacious but with no shade. There is 50 AMP hook ups and water but no sewer. The charge for the sewer dumping is $5.00. We had my parents with me so they charged us for the night senior discounts. Its beautiful and quiet here a must if you are in the area and enjoy nature!!! Overall Rating:

Well maintained site. Half price for over 65 or handicapped Florida residents. Spacious gravel sites, well drained. Everyone we met was friendly. Host campers well informed. Extremely quiet. Some sites reserved for horse trailers. Also facilities for day equestrians. Lots of horse trails. One of the best kept secrets in the Ocala area. We will camp here again.
