Florida State Park with sites on the oceanside or riverside. Nice to have options for personal preference. Oceanside a few sites have actual ocean view, very close together, no privacy, the rest back up to the sand dunes or the road (AIA-noisy). We stayed on the much newer riverside campground which had extremely spacious sites with gravel pads, new hookups, fire rings, wood for sale, dump station, but no shade due to previous hurricane damage. Would be oppressively hot in the summer but glorious in the winter. Incredibly quiet riverside campground with impeccably clean comfort stations and friendly campground hosts. Short walk to the kayak launch which is in the Riverside campground, or, cross the street to the beach. Also nice to ride bikes on the sidewalk along AIA for miles. Lots of good restaurants in the area. Highly recommend if you can get a reservation. Plan way in advance! Special Note: their map of the Riverside Campground is not accurate. Sites 58, 60 are directly across from the comfort station and accessible site 59 is next to it. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Biking is a great way to get around - to the beach or restaurants. Recommend "Oceanside Bistro" which has something for everyone, "Turtle Shack" has the best Shrimp and Grits on special nights and Burgers in town. Call "Turtle Shack" about their changing nightly specials so you don't miss "Shrimp and Grits" night.

Between the pot holes and speed bumps the interior roads are pretty bad. Other than that, it's a good stop. We camped on the river side and walked across the street to enjoy the beach. Within hours of hooking up we had ants inside, they came up the water and electric lines so just know to keep an eye on that. Nice level gravel site. Easy check in/out, friendly people. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Two loops are available, one on the lake side and the other on the ocean Both are very good. We were on the lake side, the approach roads are black top, the sites are gravel with a nice size patio. Camp sites are open sunny and level. Electrical pedestals are new. Cell service is good. We were very lucky to get a reservation. This park was more than we expected. It was absolutely wonderful. The beach was right across the street. The campground is VERY dog friendly and the sites were large and very well set up. We were right on the Halifax River side and we canoed there. Most of the beaches are dog friendly, not crowded at all. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful State park. We stayed on site 62 which is one of the river sites. The sites are very large and nice. The only issue is they do not have sewer on most of their sites. On the river the sites around the bathhouse have sewer as they are handicap sites. I think they should put sewer in. Also the bath house is not air conditioned. Given it was summer it was very hot! The beach access is great. Just drive across a1a and park and you are there. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

We were on the beach side but the other side was nice as well. The beach side gets you right on the water with multiple ramps directly to the beach from the campsite. Dogs are not allowed right in front of the campground but a short 5 min walk gets you to a section where dogs are allowed on leash. This is a spectacular location. Flagler Beach is also a fun little town with plenty of stuff to do but not over run with tourists like some other locations. There is some road noise during the day but it's quiet at night and the sound of the crashing waves is very relaxing. The sites are spacious and easy to level, but all dirt so prepare to have a dirty RV when you stay here. The bathrooms were clean. Nice showers but low water pressure. Cell was good on Verizon (64 D/L) and ATT (4 D/L) unboosted. I didn't try T mobile. OTA was good with multiple major networks. The only negative is no sewer connections although the dump station was convenient. Rangers were friendly and very present. This is a relaxing, safe location with friendly staff, clean facilities and tons of activities. The price was great as well. Book early, it fills up a year in advance on the beach side. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice, small state recreation area in a lovely area convenient to several coastal cities. Unlike most reviewers, we actually preferred the newer riverside campground over the beachside campground. While the beachside had great views, the sites were very close together, and most were not big rig friendly. Since it is situated right on the busy A1A route, there is also plenty of traffic noise. The riverside campground was quiet with much more room between the sites and easy access to kayak launch (really neat area to kayak!). The corner sites 51-54 had the most spacing with nice long sites. Unbeknownst to us is there are several (4-6) sites which have sewer hookups even though that is not listed by Reserve America. While these are ADA sites, FL allows anyone to reserve them if other sites are booked. Very dog friendly with bag/waste stations around the park and while dogs are not allowed on the state park beach, there is a very nice 3/4 mile section of the beach just south of the park where dogs are allowed (on leash only, but it's still very nice to have a beach to walk on). There is a gate from the beachside campground to get to the dog friendly section which was a nice touch. My only complaint was that the entrance to the park is crowded with shrubby, has tight turns, and is narrow requiring care with a big rig. Good news is that the entrance is scheduled for a makeover. Decent Verizon and AT&T coverage. Clear sky for satellite reception. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Very difficult to get a reservation due to how popular it is. This park is divided by FL Hwy A1A. The sites by the ocean are a little shorter and everything is sand including the road to the sites. The sand berm is so high that many sites there still do not have a view of the ocean. Still awesome location. We camped in the section by the river and again many sites do not have a view of the river. But the sites are huge with either concrete pads or hard pack gravel. Although the sites are open on the sides to other sites, they are still huge and you don't miss the vegetation between them. The outer ring sites are thick with FL vegetation at the back of the site. The bathrooms are maintained to Disney World standards, the cleanest you will ever be in. We came for Bike week and found the location great for riding around. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If coming in on Hwy 100 with the intent to go south on A1A, the right turn is impossible with out turning into oncoming traffic. As you approach the intersection while on Hwy 100, go in the left turn lane to make your right turn.

I could not get a reservation for an oceanfront site so I stayed in the Riverside loop. While Oceanside would be awesome, the Riverside loop is pretty great. You are still only 0.5 mile from the beach. It's a great location with an old-Florida feel. It's also a 0.3 mile trek from site to the kayak put-in, so you are paddling on the intracoastal in a few minutes. Not much power boat traffic and the Halifax River is good for wildlife viewing. Unfortunately the campsites have no vegetation between them for privacy though the spacing in the Riverside loop is good. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

The park was great. I stayed River side and walked to beach. I want to warn anyone with a big rig - if you come from I-95 to Hwy 100 (the directions given by the park) the right turn from Hwy 100 onto A1-A is very tight/sharp (I have a 42 ft Class A with tag axle). I had to drive my right rear wheel up onto the curb and barely made the turn. I ended up with a scratch/scrape on the right bottom edge of my coach. Next time I go there I will look for another route from I-95 to get to A1A. Leaving the park (left turn from A1A onto Hwy 100 is not a problem). Just finishing up 3 days at Gamble Rogers and can't say enough about how great this place is. We're beachside site 12 and wish we could stay longer. Beautiful ocean view, sites were spotless as were the restrooms & showers, the beach was amazing and the hosts & staff were extremely nice. Best of all was the sound of waves as we went to sleep. We'll definitely be back! We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

This campground has two loops. One is Oceanside (which is AMAZING if you can book it, BOOK IT) and the second is Riverside (where I camped) - For $45.00 a night, Riverside is just OK. The campground is clean, well maintained, the rangers and staff are incredible. But the camping area is just very basic and OK. Riverside is not facing a river (it is a few hundred meters through the woods, on a trail. You cannot see it from your campsite) - The ocean is about a 1/2 mile away. Dogs are not allowed on the beach - Sites are in an open field. No shade. Some sites are paved, mine was gravel, unlevel. If you have a toad/car/a way to get around town, Riverside might be great for you. But if you are like me and you have a motorhome, there is not much that you access unless you drive out of the park. With that said, I would only stay here again if I could book a beach spot. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We stayed here 5 nights only because it was booked and was all we could get. We stayed in the sites across from the beach but did not mind. Would have preferred to be on the beach but the these sites were very spacious and private. They have a river and a pier you can fish off of or launch your boat. They have a nice camp shop with rentals, snacks, and firewood. Pets are not allowed on the state park beach, but pretty much any other beyond their border. There is a bunch of restaurants and stores nearby. We will definitely stay here again...if we can get a site! We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at Gamble Rogers park. The beach loop is right off the beach; you can hear the surf from your site. If you have an RV with a window in front/back, a few of them (sites 15-21 or so?) even offer an overlook of the ocean. The beach itself is beautiful -- fairly soft sand, with few shells/rocks/seaweed. Sites on the beach loop are clean, pretty level, and not too close; a bit of vegetation between each site provides a bit of privacy. Bathrooms/showers also in fine condition. Campground host was very friendly. This was probably my favorite campground so far, and we will likely be making an annual visit -- so long as I can get the reservations! We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Flagler Beach and Ormond Beach are nice little beach towns, near to the north and south of the park. A few little restaurants & ice cream shops each, but not a big "beach town" vibe for either. Pleasant and relaxed.

We stayed at site 31 on the beachside. This is my favorite park. Love going to sleep at night to the sound of the waves. The winds off the water keep the bugs away too so it was a wonderful relaxing stay. Will be back. We camped at Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.
