1 Park near Hobe Sound, Florida
Jun 2015 - $26.00
If arriving by GPS/Google Maps, do NOT use the park address - we did this and it brought us to the administrative offices, with no turnaround area. We ended up having to unhook our tow vehicle, swing around, and reattach, all on the brushy unpaved maintenance roads. Follow the signs, the campground is a mile up from the official address. This park has been recently redone, and so the spots are wide open with little shade. Full hookups available. Because this park is practically on the water (less than a mile from the ocean, with Jupiter Island on the other side of the highway), it is always very VERY breezy!! If you put your awning out, you might get carried away, but at least it beats a stagnant hot campground (I'm looking at you, central FL). We stayed at site 84, which was close to the main road, but far enough from the highway that noise was minimal. Sites are gravel and level. We would stay here again. - LanderWust

This is a fabulous state park. While there is no shade, it does have FHU, which is a huge plus in our book. The sites are level, gravel, and very spacious. There are plenty of places to ride bikes, hike, or walk the dog. They have a swimming area in the river with picnic areas and a playground. You can rent canoes, motor boats, paddle boards, or kayaks, plus there's a river tour. There is an interesting visitor center telling the history of the area as well as all the wildlife. There is slight noise from Hwy 1 when outside, but no noise inside. Again, it is slight. No WiFi, but we had good Verizon reception for our phones and hotspot and good satellite reception. Shopping/restaurants are a short drive away. We will definitely be back to this park. - Gayle E.

We arrived too late to reserve one of their spots in their RV park, but they allowed us to stay in their museum/interactive store parking lot. We used our generator. It was super peaceful and very nice. When we went to the RV park area to use the dump, the RV park was nice enough ... but I was actually more content where we stayed. Their RV Park is close to the noise of US 1 and has no shade whatsoever. Still, all in all, a nice spot to stay a day or two, inside this peaceful park. I'd recommend the RV Park; just accept you'll hear some highway noise and be prepared for no shade. But if I recall, the lots were blacktop and the area seemed well kept up. - Sally Kely
