This amazing state park is about 10 miles off Interstate 10 and is well worth the drive. The area is covered with pines and other foliage and the park includes walking trails and a beautiful river. The level sites are extra large gravel base with conveniently-placed utilities including sewer. We were able to park our 39-foot fifth wheel and tow vehicle in the eady to back in spot with without unhooking. Despite significant rain during our stay our site remained dry. We had excellent OTA television reception. Verizon and Sprint were somewhat limited but within the acceptable range. We wish we would have had more time to explore the park and we would definitely stay here again. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

You can leave the park and access Highway 10 East East off of Highway 90 in the town of Holt. This prevented us from having to backtrack. The river is shallow and on a hot day would be perfect for relaxing.

Small, but well maintained campground! Lots to do! Great location for kayaking and canoeing. There are nature trails and places to bike. There is easy access to Blackwater River and it's sandy beaches for those who want to enjoy a swim or an afternoon in the sun. There is also access to the Florida Trail that passes near the park and a boat ramp for launching a small fishing boat or kayak/canoe. For those who need or want to rent a kayak or canoe, there is an Outfitter about a mile south of the campground. One thing I found disappointing was the number of reserved sites that were not occupied! By our third night, about one third of the 30 sites had no occupants; even though they were reserved! Nice for us; however, there were probably people who were not able to take advantage of this nice state park. One thing you will hear are numerous US Navy training helicopters flying in the area. They generally fly high enough to not be a bother. A surprising thing for a state park (that we've encountered) is that they pick up your trash at your site between 8 and 11 AM daily. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We knew in advance this site was going to be really tight for trailer AND vehicle, but we made it work with our 27' Jayco TT. We had room to pull the vehicle sideways in front of the trailer. We will definitely return.

The park is located in the Blackwater River State Forest. It's small but very clean and well-equipped. The bathrooms have hand soap and paper towels! That is a pleasant change from empty soap dispensers and hand blowers. The sites are gravel but level and impeccably groomed. Each site has a fire ring and they are cleaned after each camper leaves. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are hiking trails and water activities in the river are awesome! Canoe rentals are available (kayaks, tubes, etc. as well). This is rural north FL: don't expect amusement parks or touristy stuff. We loved it.

This is one of the nicest, cleanest parks we've ever stayed in. Nearly all the sites are big-rig friendly due to the wide, paved roads and generous site widths. Sites are level gravel (three closest to the restroom are paved) and the hosts rake them and clean out the BBQ and fire pit before each new arrival. The restrooms were immaculate and fully stocked. Most sites don't have much shade until late afternoon The park is a bit remote but has a playground and nice river with white sandy beaches. The cost per night was only $20 plus a $6.70 reservation fee and approximately 9% tax; four nights totaled $95.90. AT&T was a bit weak with only one to two bars but our hot spot worked okay. The two adjacent loops are similar in size and share a single restroom with the playground located in the center of Magnolia Circle. Camp hosts pick up trash bags each mornings between 8 and 10 and haul them to a dumpster that we didn't see. We stayed in site 11 which is about 25' wide and probably 70' deep! We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the best state parks we have ever camped in! The park provides a great opportunity to boat on the Blackwater River, which is one of the best floats in the Gulf South. Park is very well maintained. Sites were level, well drained, and very shady. This was our first time to camp there and we will try to return. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

I cannot say enough how beautiful this park is. Wide sites, full hookups, clean rest rooms, friendly people. Verizon cell and data is good. No WiFi or cable. Satellite is a challenge, but there are a number of OTA channels. We have never seen a state park this nice. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful park and our site was spacious, surrounded by tress and foliage. If you are looking for a park with amenities this is not it. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is it. Walked the trails by the pavilions which was interesting. Nice white sand beaches. Canoe and kayak rentals nearby. Some helicopter noise but no big deal. TiTi loop has the best sites- deep with both 30 and 50 amp hookup as well as sewer. Site 25 has the most privacy but also recommend 26,23,21 and 27. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We camped on site 19 which was a handicap site next to bathhouse. The total park is small, with a couple short hiking trails and swimming in the Blackwater River. It is quiet, in the middle of nowhere. Milton Florida is about a 20 minute drive where there is a Walmart. Most sites are a nice pea stone gravel and level. There is also a boat access. Just up the road you can rent a canoe or kayak. Be prepared to hear a lot of Air Force helicopters overhead, what I call "The Sound of Freedom." The camp host sells firewood and does a great job keeping the bath facilities clean. Although a nice park, I doubt we will return. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This small park is a hidden treasure. The level, gravel sites are generously wide and full hook-ups were well maintained. Hiking trails were will marked and loaded with interesting views. The park is only about 45 minutes from The Emerald Coast, always worth the short drive. This would be our first choice whenever in this area. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Be sure to make the short trip to Destin - absolutely beautiful beaches. The quaint little town of Milton was a fun excursion and had all of the things we needed for a longer stay, such as a nice grocery store and laundry.

Blackwater River State Park is about 10 miles from the nearest I-10 exit and it is that far away from a full-up supermarket as well (Winn-Dixie in Holt, FL). But don't let that deter you from visiting this hidden gem. 30 full hookup sites (water/50 amp electric/sewer) are arranged in two loops, one of which has a spacious playground in the center instead of RV sites. Access roads are well paved and wide enough for the motorhomes of today. The sites themselves are level, spacious and designed with very generous buffer areas of natural vegetation between them. Surface is crushed rock which the campground host meticulously grooms for each new arrival. Cell phone service was a reliable 4G (not LTE) with a download speed of about 2.4 mhz, both AT&T and Verizon. No cable TV but good over-the-air digital channels from the major broadcast networks when the wind is calm. Breezy weather gets the tall trees swaying to and fro, disrupting the digital signals. I have no experience myself with satellite tv but I did note several campers going nuts trying to get a clear view of the southern sky. One that I talked to finally gave up while another fellow could get one satellite only. No laundry. Ice may be purchased about a mile outside the park gate. White sandy beach on the river is just a 3 or 4 minute walk from the campsites. No highway noise, no train noise, no loud parties but several times a day pairs of noisy helicopters from a nearby training facility pass overhead. The river usually flows at about 2 or 3 mph making it ideal for tubing, canoeing and kayaking as well as swimming from one of the many pure white sand bars. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a water sports outfitter just a mile or two from the park entrance. You can rent a canoe and arrange for a shuttle service to pick it and you up at the end of your drift/paddle after delivering you to an appropriate launch site.

This is the first time that we have camped here and we loved it! First of all, it's full hookup for only $20 a night. I always like to use the showers if possible just to check them out. They were the best showers that I've used at a state park. Clean and plenty of room. The sites are pea gravel and level, with picnic table, fire pit and clothesline. After someone leaves a site, the campground host rakes the site to level it back out. There are a couple hiking trails. Access to one of them is in the campground and the other about half a mile away. The river is famous for canoeing and kayaking. If you don't have your own canoe or kayak, there is an outfitter about a mile and a half down the road. The park is 12 miles off Interstate 10. The closest grocery and gas is in Milton, about 15 miles away. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a really pretty, smallish state park. Sites are very wide and seem long enough for most big rigs. We only overnighted so didn't see the rest of the park. Cost was $24 including tax for electric & water. No sewer, but there is a dump station. The hosts even come by and pick up your garbage right from you site if you place a bag out by the road. Didn't use the restroom/showers but checked out the building and it looked great. Big and bright and clean and modern. The changing areas in the showers were small but did have benches and hooks. No wi-fi, but Verizon was two bars. Enough to get email etc. I hope to stay again and do some kayaking on the river. We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Truck Camper.

This Florida State Park was more like a resort. Friendly staff, campground host and other campers. Paved roads. Large graveled sites with nice picnic tables and grill and fire pits. Well maintained. Site garbage pickup every morning and evening. Private beach for campers separate from day visitors. Blackwater River which the park is located on is great. The host will even take you up river so you can tube down. We will be back! We camped at Blackwater River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
