This is a great location for its access to the keys, the everglades, various state parks and other Florida attractions. Many of the sites are quite spacious but there are some that are quite short and a few that are narrow so be sure to check out the sites first if you can. We stayed for a month and learned that there is a recurring theft problem in the park. We did have some stuff stolen. The gate has apparently been on the list to repair since the fall... still not fixed and they need to address the security. There are a lot of feral cats which we found charming but hopefully the SPCA does regular health checks as some looked to be diseased or carrying some kind of parasite like fleas or mange. We felt it was a clean park with regular maintenance except their picnic tables. Some are in real disrepair and not safe. We really enjoyed the casual vibe in the park and some of the mature trees & shrubs. The pool is small but adequate and kept at a nice warm temperature. It could be a really fun park if they made some minor changes. The biggest problem (besides the gate/security) they need to address is creating ENGLISH postings, calendars, notices, events. Heck, even just an overal English speaking culture. It is very strange to be in the USA and have notices in FRENCH only... not even in Spanish which there is also a large representation in the permanent resident section. It also created a clicky French segregation in the park where you felt like an outsider. We will not be back and met others in the park that felt the same. Wanted to talk to management but felt like they know the problems already. They have some French 'volunteers'. Just hold some English/Spanish classes... or use google translate when you post a notice...lol. Include the whole park, not just the French population. Check out the sites if you can. Many are really spacious and beautiful and a few are just terrible. If you don't speak French ask to be in a section where there are more Americans and English speaking Canadians. Its lonely in the 'French Quarter' if you aren't a quebecquois We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

"Resort" is a stretch for this Campground. It is a mixed use park, with many seasonal residents, many mobile homes and park models. Some in serious disrepair. Could be from Irma, or possibly Andrew. Old park that needs some TLC. Bath house was usable, but not clean at 6:am today. Two showers. Toilets were dirty. They have a small pool that is heated. Our space (3) was very tight, with a palm tree on one side of the drive and a light pole on the other. On the positive side, there is a cement pad next to the drive with a small picnic table. Okay for our short stay of three nights, but I wouldn't want to stay here any longer than that. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Haven't been shopping, but there is a rodeo directly behind the Campground. You might check that out if interested. There is a small store at the office, but scantly stocked. You are downtown, so shopping and restaurants should be close by.

The staff was very friendly. The park itself is not a resort but a mix of full time locals and winter visitors. Unfortunately for us our site backed up on a road with traffic. If you need a place for a night or two and don't have too large a rig it will suffice but this is not a destination for camping. The sites are small. They do have concrete patios. The front part of the park seemed to be travelers or snow birds. The farther back in the park it is definitely full time locals. Again, the staff was wonderful. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We visited Boardwalk on October 8th and 9th, 2017. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon after the stated check-in time, however the office was not open. A sign on the office door had my name and a site number written on it. In looking for a map of the park, I found my check-in package in the mailbox beside the door. The site I was assigned for my 40 foot 5th wheel was a straight back-in on a very crowded narrow street. During the extended back-in procedure, I damaged a front wheel cover which I reported to the office the next morning.

The restroom and shower house was suitable and relatively clean.

We were not pleased with our visit and would not recommend this park to other RV travellers. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We did a two day stop here on our way to Key West from Fort Myers. Picked this place because they gave me the 50% off Passport America rate. Probably about 80% of this place is permanent mobile homes and RVs. Friendly staff, gated community, rest rooms and showers are usable but dated. We didn't use them. There is a fence around the whole community. They put us in a spot in the front corner which I had no trouble getting into because the road made a turn and I could back right in from the road. After we got set up we walked around and could see most or the sites are tight with a 90 degree back in. Would have been tough anywhere else. Our problem was we were parked in the corner up against a fence, on the other side of the fence was a intersection with a four way stop sign. All day and night we could hear loud traffic noise. So much that my wife had to wear earplugs to get to sleep. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was just an overnight stay for us. Check-in was friendly and they gave us free bread. It seems to have decent gated security. However, our site was the tightest we've ever experienced. It took about a 10 point turn to squeeze into it. The interior roads are also very narrow. Bathrooms were very run down, rusty and dirty. We would not stay here again due to the narrow roads and sites. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We were offered a $200 a week special at the Tampa RV show. We choose to stay at the Boardwalk based on the location-we were headed to the keys. The coded entry gate is to close to the road so we couldn't pull into the driveway with tow attached w/o blocking the road. Made entry into the 'resort' awkward. The front staff was very friendly and though my first impression was not good, we went to our site in hopes it would be better. It was not. This is a mobile home park with a few spots for RVs and those RVs should be shorter than 35 feet because of the tight corners and narrow roads. Our site was run down and it was apparent it was left over from a mobil home that had been removed. The site was dirt with some ruts. We mistakenly thought the concrete pad was to park on and wiggled the MH onto it. A guy came by and informed us that we were suppose to park on the dirt. We started all over. We walked the dog and saw one loose dog and numerous feral cats. The cat problem bothered me as did the loose dog. There were two mobile homes being remodeled and the removed material was in front of the homes. It was not a 'Resort' property nor is it an RV park. It is a mobile home lot. We chose to leave. We didn't feel comfortable. The office employees were very understanding and I did receive some of my money back. I was well aware they did not have to do it. I will never stay here again. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We loved this park, but we stayed here for over a week. The location is great for so many things. We went to The Fruit and Spice Park, Biscayne National Park, Coral Castle, Key Largo and Shark Valley while we were here. It is close and easy to all of these places. As the other reviewers mention, it is a tight park. It started in 1951 as housing for Homestead AFB and still have many permanent residents here. The grounds are very well kept and walking through the park you'll see some lovely landscaping. The royal palms lining one of the streets are amazing. The staff is very good at the front office are friendly and helpful. One of their security folk and is pleasant and very watchful. You'll find this community a wonderful crosscut of everything that makes South Florida great. The French Canadians occupy much of the RV part of the park, while the local Latino's occupy much of the permanent residence. They are all friendly people who you'll see walking the park with frequency and will smile and take time to speak, if you engage them. We hope to come back here and spend some more time. In our opinion, it is perfectly located for many activities. You can easily get to the upper Florida Keys, The Everglades and Miami from here and it still have a small town feel to it. I hope we get to come back here again and would highly recommend planning on at least a week here. There is a LOT to see and do in the surrounding area. Really a mobile home/park model housing area.

Very difficult getting into the assigned site. Not sure why they put us on that one as many other sites were available and easier to get into for one night stay.

Would only stay there if no other options available. Will try to plan around Homestead in the future. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stopped at Boardwalk park in February, the peak month in this part of Florida, without a reservation. We were given the one spot left and were happy to get it since it was getting late. I found the management to be very friendly and accommodating. However: the park was pretty bad. It was VERY crowded with snowbirds and the campers in the area of the park we stayed in, were definitely not well maintained. Our 35' class A isn't real large, but it was difficult to maneuver it into our campsite, with the roads and sites so small. Our campsite was directly beside the intersection of two busy roads outside the campground and the noise was relentless all night. On top of that, the cost seemed very high for the value received, but again, this is peak season. The staff appeared to be contentious about keeping the park clean, but the overall lack of maintenance in the park was apparent. For example, my sewer hookup had two broken pieces of concrete covering it and my water was buried someplace else. I didn't hook up to either, but I did hook up to electric which was in a small box (without circuit breakers or on/off switch) that was located 6 inches off the ground and was very difficult to access. Considering the park's location and ability to attract campers, I think they could do a lot better. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We were very disappointed in our stay here. We came in late and were surprised by the number of permanent RV's and mobile homes. It had a very trailer park feel. The gentleman who lived permanently in his RV had to move his truck from our spot before we could back in. The site given to us was tight and not well suited for a 38' rig. Permanent residents were unfriendly and it was extremely noisy. We chose to leave early and move to a different RV park. The only good thing I can say is that the staff was friendly and even tried to get us a refund for the day we didn't use. We camped at The Boardwalk RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Homestead itself seemed to have a run down feel. I would suggest staying either inside the Everglades at a campground or finding a different town nearby.

Also, Flamingo inside the Everglades was very run down.
