We were lucky to get a pull through site as there are only four. We just drove in for a one night stay with no reservation. The office was closed but a maintenance manager drove up on a golf cart and directed us to our site. We paid for it in the morning. Our site #123 is a pull through with a cement patio pad. The surface is grass. Many sites have crushed gravel as well. Most sites are very spacious, but they are back in. Ours is ok. The road throughout is paved. There is a very nice double gated dog park fenced in, good size. The pool and baths are directly behind. Normally, there would be few campers here. It is almost full now because of construction workers. The seasonals have departed. It is a quiet campground. Good location for traveling. Very friendly staff. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort (formerly River Lodge RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

We have a 45' motorhome with a tow and had no problem getting into our site. Granted it is a slow time of the year, and the park was pretty empty of people. The roads in the rv park are paved. The grass sites have a concert slab with a picnic table. There is a pool that was very clean and laundry facilities that were also clean. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort (formerly River Lodge RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

We only spent one night on our way to Memphis for a family gathering. Had some issues upon departure. Toad was dead because we didn't turn it off the night before. There had been heavy rains several days before we arrived, the grass looked green and firm. Had to call Coach Net to pull us out of the wet sand before we could get on our way. Appears to be a very popular resort for snow birds. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort (formerly River Lodge RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Golf Coast RV Park while visiting family in the area. The park is very large and offers spacious sites with full hookups. We did not feel that we were "cramped" in a site on top of our neighbors as there are no sites immediately behind you and allows extra sitting space. Restrooms were clean but only one shower in the bath house near us (there are two in the park). Assuming most folks use their own units for showers. There are two laundry rooms on site. The one we used offered six washers and six dryers. During our visit, four of the washers were out of order. The office was immediately addressed the issue and had them repaired. Very friendly and helpful staff. Maintenance does a nice job with landscaping. We will definitely utilize this park as a stopping point when in the area. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort (formerly River Lodge RV Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Second visit here. A favorite area of ours.. This was a good value before they started adding electric charges. Some people with reservations were not even contacted about this change, as promised. Staff was always helpful, and the park is well maintained. There is no clubhouse and the wifi is so slow, its not worth the trouble. It gets cold here in the winter and the no see-ums are relentless on most warm days. Will not stay here again. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort (formerly River Lodge RV Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Great area to visit. Crystal River is just big enough for most everyone. Cedar Key is about 45 min. north and well worth the visit.

The rate reflects monthly rate. They keep this park clean and they are very helpful on places to go. One minor disappointment: no large community room to have meetings, games, etc. The Wi-Fi was down while they repaired it and now works great. Will be back again. recently the park was sold by the bank and is now "Gulf Coast RV Resort" but old website is down and new one is not online yet. Most sites are very roomy, wifi is free but can be unpredictable. We have stayed there each winter for several winters and are staying again this winter. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort (formerly River Lodge RV Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

During our stay Jan-March I can note a few pros and cons. At that time, this campground is operated by a management company for a bank. Consequently, the site manager, who listened, could not correct larger problems. Small problems were addressed.

This is an attractive park. It is convenient to attractions in the area. Parking is on gravel or grass and sites have cement patios and picnic tables. Most sites are large and many have shade trees. There is a large fenced dog run. The park insist you clean up after your dog, little or no tolerance about this and the campers do comply. The park does organize a few activities and the campers add their own (handicrafts, cards, weekly dinners at local restaurants).

Standard utilities are fine. The wifi was unreliable. If there was not an interruption in service, the bandwidth proved inadequate. The signal is strong. The restroom/shower is HC accessible however inadequate for the size of the park. Too often the shower needed cleaning. No see ems are a constant companion. The water treatment area is noisy.

Rumor was improvements were coming and there were active buyers. We would stay here again if the wifi was upgraded and the noise from the water treatment area was mitigated. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort (formerly River Lodge RV Resort) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of nature nearby, short and long trails, boat launches, spots to kayak. Crystal River, 11 miles, has most everything. Walmart a bit further. Ocala has much more including the Florida Horse Park with mostly free events. Locals are mostly friendly but don't bring a big city hurry up attitude to a restaurant.

Here for the winter season so rate reflects monthly rate of $500. That's all inclusive (electric, cable, FHU, WiFi). I'd give this park a 10 if the bank who owns this park would find a better management company or better yet, turn the park management over to the staff that's on site. The staff is terrific and really do all they can to make things right, but the management company has no idea about RV parks and won't do what needs to be done to really service the guests. Older reviews say good WiFi - not any longer. Hasn't worked since we got here. Once the park has more than a handful of trailers, you can't get on so you better rely on your own mifi or forget internet access. The pool is supposed to be heated, but its kind of sketchy. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. There is no pool cover, so the heat escapes and after a couple cool days, the pool can be quite cold until the heater (when it works) has time to warm it up again. It is unfortunate that the management company (hired by the bank as the park is bank owned) is really bad and knows absolutely nothing about running an RV park. The park really need a meeting room or clubhouse and activities. The staff on site are separate from the management company and couldn't be nicer or more helpful, but as I said earlier, if the bank was smart they'd just let the staff runs the place and stop wasting their money on a poor management company, and spend it instead on upgrading the WiFi, adding a clubhouse or gathering room for activities, and getting a pool cover. The regulars have tried to get activities going on their own, but without a place to congregate it's hard to do. Another annoying thing is the signs on each loop have the wrong site numbers on them. There is no one to guide guests to their site so most times you see trailers or Motorhomes driving in circles trying to figure out where their site is. It would be nice if they had a "Work Kamper" who could lead people to their site. It's really a shame as the park grounds are pretty and it's an excellent location. We have stayed here the last few winters and plan on returning again this fall. Good sized sites. very friendly office staff, very easy to work with. Wi-Fi and cable are great. No-see-ums can be annoying at times. Few activities and no clubhouse. Good big dog run. Good hookups with no extra charges. Friendly, well maintained in a country setting. Wi-Fi great. Easy access to salt and fresh water activities. Plenty of wildlife in area. Paved road, electric were excellent. A good value, no added fee's. Stayed 6 mos. The reason for rating a 9 is Walmart is 15 miles away. Website says it all. Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful park. My only reason for a 9 rating is that because the sites are grass/sand, it's hard to not track sand inside. The shower was spacious and handicap accessible. In Florida, if you are near water then the gnats/no see sums can be a problem for awhile at sunset and sunrise. That said they can also swarm for a few days now and then. We stayed for a night at the end of June and had no gnat/no see um issues at all. It was sprinkling when we arrived and then there was a bit of a breeze later on. But in the morning, no breeze and no bugs. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort (formerly River Lodge RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

This is a very hard review to write. I have been traveling to this area since I was a child. Having passed this extremely nice RV park many times before we bought our travel trailer, I had always said I want to stay there someday. The park is located with so much access to both freshwater and saltwater fishing nearby. We arrived late afternoon to set up the trailer. Our cousins lived nearby so this was a good location to visit them and enjoy the area. The restrooms, showers, pool, and park are very clean with nice large sites. Again from all appearances we were going to have a fantastic time!! Alas, nature had a nice little surprise for us.....Sand gnats or No-See-Ums. We were swarmed by these pesky little 'flying teeth'. I am saying literally swarmed. Before I had the RV setup I had been bitten in dozens of spots. The next morning I had little red itchy dots all over my legs and arms. This is very sad, as I wanted to stay here so badly. I feel so sorry for the park management as there is little, if nothing they can do to help the sand gnat problem. We checked out the next morning and moved inland about thirty miles. We camped at Gulf Coast RV Resort (formerly River Lodge RV Resort) in a Travel Trailer.
