Nice park with all facilities. We had a back-in site near the office because we wanted to be close to the gate so we wouldn't be far from the bus stop to go down town Key West. We decided to drive, the trip by car is only 15 minutes and the bus is 45 minutes and we had no trouble finding parking on side streets two blocks from Duval St. Lots of restaurants and sidewalk bars. Stayed 3 nights. The event that week was Ernest Hemingway look alike contest at Sloppy Joe's Restaurant and Bar. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There's really nothing much between Florida City and Key west except a hundred miles straight road and island hopping until you hit key West.We left on Saturday and the traffic on the other side was bumper to bumper and many people towing boats. You're probably better off going during the week and leaving before or after Sunday because it's a big boating weekend resort area for people living in South Florida.

Glad we did not visit during peak times cause it would not have been nice. We did arrive on Sunday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend. Wow, never seen anything like it. A mix of all camper types: but an amazing number of tents with their vehicles hanging out onto the one way road. Had to ask two people to move vehicles just to get to our site, then no way to back our 36 ft motor home into the site without asking someone else to move a vehicle. The next afternoon all the tents were gone, whew, I was fretting how we were going to get out in couple of days. But turned into a quiet campground, gravel sites, fairly level, full hook ups. Off season, water front site $110.00 per night. One of the nicer, closer campgrounds to Key West. I recommend staying here, but NOT on a holiday weekend. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

It's all about location - it's Key West and everything is very expensive. No discounts available. Rate was for off season FHU with our rig backed up to the water. Nice resort with paved roads and wide level sandy sites. All back-in sites with palm trees and some bushes between sites. Good satellite signal, cable TV, password protected WiFi and good cell signal. Several clean restroom and shower facilities, nice laundry, pool and store. Water on three sides and private boat ramp and dock. Park clean and staff helpful and friendly. Very busy on the weekends. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Office will help with rental scooter or cart delivered to campground. Don't take a taxi to downtown, only a few miles but $25 one way. If you want to go to Dry Tortuga Nat'l Park, need to reserve ferry 2 weeks in advance. Go to Mallory Square for sunset and street performers.

"Enjoyable safe park directly on the water"

A great place to camp. Lots of shade trees, ample room to park an rv (we have 35 ft tow behind). The lots on the water are 5 feet from the water. Will definitely book one of these next time. There was security at night checking anyone coming into park. Clean showers, laundry room and pool. General store on site in case you forgot anything. Getting down to Duvall street was not a problem. If you want to rent bikes or scooters a company would deliver and pick up from the campground. No problem accessing the wifi. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We initially camped in a waterfront spot (with the water inches from the back of our rig) for 4 days. We liked Key West and Boyd's so much that we stayed for another 4 days, this time in an "inland" spot for $105 a night. While we were there in mid-April there were lots of inland sites to choose from. Both of our sites had a concrete patio and a nice picnic table. There was a "beach" that was not for swimming that we used for launching our kayaks and swimming our dog. The campground was clean and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The laundry room was very clean and had lots of washers and dryers. The pool was pleasant, with Jimmy Buffet and his type of music piped in. There is a boat ramp and a dock. If you visit the dock, look for the pelicans roosting at night on the mangrove island just across the way. Other guests were friendly. On the weekend, the tent sites filled up but we didn't find it overly loud. The Naval Air Station is on the next Key down, and the jets take off and land all day long. They are very loud, but you get used to them. Key West could not be more convenient - just a few miles away. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a little Cuban restaurant across the street that sells breakfast and lunch to local folks. The food and coffee are delicious and probably the only thing in Key West that is reasonably priced. The Roostica Wood-Fired pizza was a little small and just OK considering the price. It was hard to get them to answer the phone to take our carry-out order.

We were lucky to get a spot for 5 days at Boyd's, but our overall impression of the park was, it is of mediocre value. Granted, you can't beat the location which allowed us to rent a scooter and that made it easy to go to/from town (we have no toad), so the location if why it was so expensive. The hookup's were okay, the cable mediocre, and the wifi was 100% useless unless you were within 20 feet of the office (even my booster didn't help). Verizon/Karma worked well. The site (#202) has a picnic table on a concrete pad, but the RV was on sand/grass, fairly level, with a couple of tall palm trees around. Most people were nice but a lot would avoid eye-contact. We were by the street and the noise was bothersome but tolerable. The roosters, though, started at 4am and kept it up until about 9am. Ugh. Our neighbor was an employee that lived there; he was pleasant in the few face-to-face encounters, but he and his visitors were quite loud up to midnight. We didn't use any facilities except for laundry, and it was adequate. There did seem to be a lot of activities, for those that like that. They also let us send mail and packages to their address, which was nice. But it was all QUITE expensive. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Rented a scooter from Sunshine Scooters, and was happy with the value. We did the seaplane ride to Dry Tortugas and can highly recommend it. We also visited the Butterfly Exhibit, Mel Fisher museum, Hemingway's home, the Truman Little White House tour, all of which I highly recommend.

We spent two wonderful months in Key West this year - loving every minute of the spectacular weather. The wonderful Boyd's Staff makes every possible effort to ensure you enjoy the time spent in Paradise. Yes, the lots tend to be a bit small, and yes, the rate is a little pricey, but we know that going in - before each visit - and it hasn't detracted from our stay one bit.

Should one have the interest, activities abound within the park. Card games of all sorts, pot luck dinners, dominos, corn hole and many, many more events fill the calendar throughout the month.

For those who travel full time (as we do), deliveries arrived (either USPS or UPS) without hassle and placed in a section of the gift shop for retrieval at one's convenience.

While the 'full hook up' rate includes cable and Wi-Fi, be prepared for slower speeds when the park fills with guests (as one would expect).

We highly recommend staying here and plan to continue to return to Boyd's every year well into the future. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

The average nightly rate we paid reflects the discount we received for staying three months. This is a very expensive place to stay considering the quality of the RV park. You are paying for for your proximity to downtown Key West (1o minute drive). On the positive side of things, the staff was very friendly and helpful, hookups were good, our site was level, WiFi was fair, and recycling services were provided. On the negative side of things, it is obvious that very little of the RV park revenue is reinvested into infrastructure. The site sizes reflect the reality of RV sizes from 30-40 years ago. If you have a big rig, maneuvering at Boyd's is very tricky. Grading and drainage is poor. When it rains, the sand sites and uneven access roads become a muddy mess with a lot of water that ponds for days. During out three month stay, they were trying to improve the WiFi but it improved to fair (at best). The WiFi system simply isn't robust enough to serve the number of campers at Boyd's. Recycling services were also implemented during our stay. The problem is that they don't have enough recycling bins and they were often overflowing by mid-week (they are only emptied once per week). Boyd's has a social activities coordinator, and she worked very hard to implement social experiences. The problem is that she was only one person and she had other responsibilities at the RV park. As a result, there weren't a lot of social activities and campers took it upon themselves to coordinate independent activities that did not include everyone staying at Boyd's. This led to the development of several cliques, and if you weren't in the clique you were left out.

Key West has some nice winter weather and some beautiful places, but given the price of Boyd's and the quality of the park, we most likely will not be overwintering here again. The experience did not justify the cost. There are much better values for overwintering in south Texas and southern California. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you enjoy the bar scene, you will enjoy downtown Key West. If that isn't your thing, however, Key West can get pretty boring for a multiple month stay. The cost of living, in Key West, is quite high and many businesses take every opportunity to price gouge tourists while locals get special price breaks. As long as your wallet is open, you are tolerated but not especially welcomed.

We stayed in a oceanfront site. The back of the camper is about 10 feet from the water. Some of these sites have a restricted view due to tall hedges. Be sure to ask for an site with an unobstructed view. The pool looked nice, but we didn't use it. This is the most expensive campground we've ever stayed. Excellent location. Pricy, but that is to be expected so close to Key West. Good vegetation with nice shady spots, but not all. People extremely nice and helpful. The person in the office went out of his way to give us a better spot as the one we were assigned was too tight. All in all: would go back and recommend any one. Nice to be able to take the bus into town from just outside camp. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Boyd's is all about location to KW as it is right on the bus route to town or it's a reasonable 4-5 mile bike ride in. We had a site on the bay (142) and it was quite nice with lot's of sun. I can see that some sites would be a challenge for larger motor coaches. Plenty of tree's on lots of sites. Most look to be fairly level. There are some sites like ours that didn't have a cement pad. No big issue. We have a 32' Class C. Wifi was good as was the cable TV. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

As stated in many reviews, the sites are very tight and normally requires assistance from the campground staff or a neighboring camper to help park a rig; we stayed in a 38' motorhome. Management has also decided to use every possible space for revenue which compounds the problem and also leaves very little space for shielding vegetation not to mention little opportunity for pets. Not a very appealing campground. However, if your main goal is to camp close to downtown Key West then this is the place for you. Very convenient and an easy bike ride or short taxi ride to downtown. Would not stay here again. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

We came here after we cancelled our stay at another RV park. Boyd's was more reasonably priced and far more roomier, not cramped like the other one. Boyd's it right on Key West and more convenient than any of the others. We had a back row, no one on either side of us so it was very peaceful during our stay of a week.

Stay here if going to Key West, you will be glad that you did. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

The park was clean and it is close to downtown Key. However, if you in a 45 ft Motorhome forgot it. This park is great for tents and small campers. Every large motorhome owner I spoke with said the same thing I said. First time, last time. Not too much to do at the campground but we did come here to be close to Key West As I look outside my window for my departure I will need to ask 3 neighbors to move their vehicles to allow me to exit. I will say the staff here is great. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

This was the first time to Key West area & enjoyed our stay overall. Friendly helpful staff. The overall presentation of the sites are very crowed, tight & dated. We were lucky to be placed in a beach front site at the back of the campground (Site #156), this had a small beach / sand front & was in a small quiet little corner. We loved the site, had we been put in any other site we would of probably rated the park 5/10 (if that). Like previous posts had noted, this is not for large RV's, our 29 foot travel trailer was 'snug'. Would only stay again if we could get this particular site.
