We were lucky to get a spot for 5 days at Boyd's, but our overall impression of the park was, it is of mediocre value. Granted, you can't beat the location which allowed us to rent a scooter and that made it easy to go to/from town (we have no toad), so the location if why it was so expensive. The hookup's were okay, the cable mediocre, and the wifi was 100% useless unless you were within 20 feet of the office (even my booster didn't help). Verizon/Karma worked well. The site (#202) has a picnic table on a concrete pad, but the RV was on sand/grass, fairly level, with a couple of tall palm trees around. Most people were nice but a lot would avoid eye-contact. We were by the street and the noise was bothersome but tolerable. The roosters, though, started at 4am and kept it up until about 9am. Ugh. Our neighbor was an employee that lived there; he was pleasant in the few face-to-face encounters, but he and his visitors were quite loud up to midnight. We didn't use any facilities except for laundry, and it was adequate. There did seem to be a lot of activities, for those that like that. They also let us send mail and packages to their address, which was nice. But it was all QUITE expensive. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rented a scooter from Sunshine Scooters, and was happy with the value. We did the seaplane ride to Dry Tortugas and can highly recommend it. We also visited the Butterfly Exhibit, Mel Fisher museum, Hemingway's home, the Truman Little White House tour, all of which I highly recommend.

We spent two wonderful months in Key West this year - loving every minute of the spectacular weather. The wonderful Boyd's Staff makes every possible effort to ensure you enjoy the time spent in Paradise. Yes, the lots tend to be a bit small, and yes, the rate is a little pricey, but we know that going in - before each visit - and it hasn't detracted from our stay one bit.

Should one have the interest, activities abound within the park. Card games of all sorts, pot luck dinners, dominos, corn hole and many, many more events fill the calendar throughout the month.

For those who travel full time (as we do), deliveries arrived (either USPS or UPS) without hassle and placed in a section of the gift shop for retrieval at one's convenience.

While the 'full hook up' rate includes cable and Wi-Fi, be prepared for slower speeds when the park fills with guests (as one would expect).

We highly recommend staying here and plan to continue to return to Boyd's every year well into the future. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Head up to Geiger Key Marina for some great seafood!

The average nightly rate we paid reflects the discount we received for staying three months. This is a very expensive place to stay considering the quality of the RV park. You are paying for for your proximity to downtown Key West (1o minute drive). On the positive side of things, the staff was very friendly and helpful, hookups were good, our site was level, WiFi was fair, and recycling services were provided. On the negative side of things, it is obvious that very little of the RV park revenue is reinvested into infrastructure. The site sizes reflect the reality of RV sizes from 30-40 years ago. If you have a big rig, maneuvering at Boyd's is very tricky. Grading and drainage is poor. When it rains, the sand sites and uneven access roads become a muddy mess with a lot of water that ponds for days. During out three month stay, they were trying to improve the WiFi but it improved to fair (at best). The WiFi system simply isn't robust enough to serve the number of campers at Boyd's. Recycling services were also implemented during our stay. The problem is that they don't have enough recycling bins and they were often overflowing by mid-week (they are only emptied once per week). Boyd's has a social activities coordinator, and she worked very hard to implement social experiences. The problem is that she was only one person and she had other responsibilities at the RV park. As a result, there weren't a lot of social activities and campers took it upon themselves to coordinate independent activities that did not include everyone staying at Boyd's. This led to the development of several cliques, and if you weren't in the clique you were left out.

Key West has some nice winter weather and some beautiful places, but given the price of Boyd's and the quality of the park, we most likely will not be overwintering here again. The experience did not justify the cost. There are much better values for overwintering in south Texas and southern California. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If you enjoy the bar scene, you will enjoy downtown Key West. If that isn't your thing, however, Key West can get pretty boring for a multiple month stay. The cost of living, in Key West, is quite high and many businesses take every opportunity to price gouge tourists while locals get special price breaks. As long as your wallet is open, you are tolerated but not especially welcomed.

We stayed in a oceanfront site. The back of the camper is about 10 feet from the water. Some of these sites have a restricted view due to tall hedges. Be sure to ask for an site with an unobstructed view. The pool looked nice, but we didn't use it. This is the most expensive campground we've ever stayed. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Key West - beware, parking in the downtown area is a challenge.

Excellent location. Pricy, but that is to be expected so close to Key West. Good vegetation with nice shady spots, but not all. People extremely nice and helpful. The person in the office went out of his way to give us a better spot as the one we were assigned was too tight. All in all: would go back and recommend any one. Nice to be able to take the bus into town from just outside camp. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the bus, but be prepared for long ride (45 min.) Schedule sparse, be on time!

Boyd's is all about location to KW as it is right on the bus route to town or it's a reasonable 4-5 mile bike ride in. We had a site on the bay (142) and it was quite nice with lot's of sun. I can see that some sites would be a challenge for larger motor coaches. Plenty of tree's on lots of sites. Most look to be fairly level. There are some sites like ours that didn't have a cement pad. No big issue. We have a 32' Class C. Wifi was good as was the cable TV. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the blue to KW (bus stop in front of De Luna rest.) as it gets you to the main core quicker and closer.

As stated in many reviews, the sites are very tight and normally requires assistance from the campground staff or a neighboring camper to help park a rig; we stayed in a 38' motorhome. Management has also decided to use every possible space for revenue which compounds the problem and also leaves very little space for shielding vegetation not to mention little opportunity for pets. Not a very appealing campground. However, if your main goal is to camp close to downtown Key West then this is the place for you. Very convenient and an easy bike ride or short taxi ride to downtown. Would not stay here again. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

We came here after we cancelled our stay at another RV park. Boyd's was more reasonably priced and far more roomier, not cramped like the other one. Boyd's it right on Key West and more convenient than any of the others. We had a back row, no one on either side of us so it was very peaceful during our stay of a week.

Stay here if going to Key West, you will be glad that you did. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

The park was clean and it is close to downtown Key. However, if you in a 45 ft Motorhome forgot it. This park is great for tents and small campers. Every large motorhome owner I spoke with said the same thing I said. First time, last time. Not too much to do at the campground but we did come here to be close to Key West As I look outside my window for my departure I will need to ask 3 neighbors to move their vehicles to allow me to exit. I will say the staff here is great. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Any rv larger than 37 ft stay away.

This was the first time to Key West area & enjoyed our stay overall. Friendly helpful staff. The overall presentation of the sites are very crowed, tight & dated. We were lucky to be placed in a beach front site at the back of the campground (Site #156), this had a small beach / sand front & was in a small quiet little corner. We loved the site, had we been put in any other site we would of probably rated the park 5/10 (if that). Like previous posts had noted, this is not for large RV's, our 29 foot travel trailer was 'snug'. Would only stay again if we could get this particular site. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Definitely NOT Big Rig friendly! Turns are tight, sites are short, and cars line the narrow roads. It took us and two staffers (one a professional truck driver) half an hour and several tries to park our 35' 5th wheel. To do so, two neighbors moved their vehicles and another had to pull in his awning (thank heavens they were around). Power was out part of each day. I thought we were next to a rocket launch when jets began taking off at 8 a.m. (CG is sandwiched between 3 Navy runways and an international airport). On the plus side, staff was pleasant and helpful and you're just 5 miles from downtown Key West. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great place to stay. Easy check-in with a friendly, helpful staff. The roads are paved, wide, and easy to navigate. The sites are level and the hookups are within easy reach. Each site has a concrete pad and picnic table. After parking, I had a branch touching the top of the coach. I saw a staff members going pass the coach and within 10 minutes, the branch had been cut and removed. This is the only place I stay when visiting Key West. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Narrow roads and sites, and airport noise. This park was developed years ago for smaller RV's, so getting into a site with a 30' plus unit is a nightmare. There is virtually no room between sites once you get in. In airport flight path. Depending on wind direction there is annoying jet noise during the day. Paved roads and concrete sites surrounded by grass. Clean, heated pool. Friendly, helpful staff. Two maintenance staff arrived quickly in response to my question about cable TV inadequacy. They not only showed me the cable box was working, but offered check my side of the system. Finally diagnosing a loose TV connection to display great cable reception. An unknown WiFi problem, noted by an office door sign, caused poor internet reception that was not resolved during our week long stay. Dog walking is on minimal grass at edge of roads or outside park. Very expensive, but there is not much choice if you want to be close to Key West. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

An almost perfect RV park. Free Wi-Fi (weak signal, slow, as the office will confirm), pool, showers, toilets, on-site well stocked store, nearby bus service/stops, friendly and attentive staff, shaded level sites, etc. Boyd's also has a boat launch with docks and fish cleaning table. Some sites have the Gulf water as their 'back yard.' Tent sites are also on the water front. Night security. Wanted to give it full marks, but there are some minor issues. Sites are close together and expensive, but considering the location, this might be reasonable. Even though close together, each site has a picnic table. Pool is much too small for the full occupancy. A pool three times the current size would be right. Almost all sites are back-in and without sewer. One thing they definitely have right: showers and toilet facilities, and garbage dumpsters are located around the park. No matter where your site is, you aren't far from one. (So much breeze that you only smell the ocean, most of the time.) Laundry is at the pool/office area. Some sites have a pad, some have a very old and corroded small BBQ. Planes, jets and helicopters are heard frequently. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

This a really the best place to stay when visiting Key West. Yes, the sites are tight but the staff at Boyd's do an excellent job of getting you in and out without incident. We had full hookups and everything that we needed at the park. Across the street is a bus stop and for fifty cents (for seniors) you can catch the bus into town which is better than driving because parking in Key West is expensive and scarce. There are a couple of restaurants close by if you don't want to venture into town. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.
