Overall Rating:

The sites are very close together, but we were here in April so there were fewer campers, so it was great. The roosters roaming all around with their crowing could drive you crazy, but in Key West they roam Everywhere. Internet was decent. The people were extremely nice. Very close to downtown Key West. Be aware if you have a big truck Key West is extremely difficult to drive around. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Boyd's Campground is simply great! We came down for a week in early April and enjoyed every minute of it. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay by an additional day. The only point of disappointment was we had an excellent site for the 6 nights we were there, but we were unable to stay in that site for the additional night that we stayed, but that is to be understood. We moved down two sites and were just fine. We actually appreciated the fact that the office didn't move the next camper coming into our spot as they had requested and paid for it, good job by the front office. As far as the campground goes, sure it is tight in some spots but this is the Keys, and space is a premium, but the maintenance guys will come out and direct traffic and help you get in. We saw several large pushers there get in and out with no incident. The local wildlife we found enjoyable, even the roosters starting early in the morning! Power was clean, water pressure was great and the water at our site had no smell to it, cable TV was plentiful, and the wifi next to the boat ramp at our site was fast and free. We would recommend going either to the point where the tent sites are or over to the beach to watch a sunrise, its unforgettable. We brought bikes and it took us about 25 minutes to ride into downtown or to the Historic Seaport, and we actually left the bikes unlocked at our site overnight. There was no feeling of inadequate security at the campground throughout our stay. I highly recommend this campground if you want to stay near Key West! We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Location, Location, Location! Right over the bridge to Key West! Bus service less than 2 blocks away. Cab located right next door. Site 25 - All sites are very tight - totally like the tourist area it is. Site was level, unpaved but with patio and picnic table. Campfires allowed, but sites were so close we wouldn't do it. Bring your own fire ring. It's expensive, but everything about Key West is costly. CG itself has everything you could need, except a bar! Pool is great. boat ramp, fish cleaning station, bikes for rent, excellent laundromat, even an ATM machine! Roads and sites are tight, but accessible for every sized rig. Always full, so make reservations early! Will stay there on next trip to Key West. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Hogfish Bar and Grill, about 2 blocks away, is AWESOME!!!! Silver-colored tourist trolleys in KW give you two days for same price as one. Schooner's Bar (Tavern?) has happy hour from 7AM to Noon!!! Great, fun atmosphere! (Stop 8 on the trolley!!! ) Everything costs in Key West, but you can find some 2 for 1 deals and cheaper food spots if you're willing!

While at the Keys expect to pay. It was snowbird season so it's expensive... but you are really close to Duvall Street where everything is happening... it's tight to navigate a motorhome and a tow dolly thru the interior roads thank goodness for the assistance from the employees... they are great... yes you are close to your neighbors but Real estate is at a premium there on the island... we did have a pull in site not a back in which was great! FHU and great cable but wifi is in & out most of the time. Go to the garden to get access to the internet... that could use some upgrades. If you have a tow dolly they tell you to in hook before going to your site because it's really tight with a car & dolly to get around they the campground. Great time ! If we go back we will stay there! We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Great, helpful and friendly staff; they even helped us back in! Dog friendly - family atmosphere and security were great (security on duty at entrance all night). Some great restaurants in walking distance. Sites are a little tight (so it was great to have help backing in), but found that once we had the slide out and parked the truck at the head of our 5th wheel it afforded us a private area. Nice palm trees throughout (this isn't a parking lot). And although we didn't participate in all the activities there were certainly some; card night, pot luck night, camper appreciation night, etc. Bring your bicycles for a nice ride into old Key West. While pricing is high, it is on the lower side for Key West. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We were in a waterfront space, which wasn't really waterfront. About 2 spaces down was waterfront. No big deal though as we were happy to get a reservation on very short notice. The site was quite sandy with a concrete patio. The area at our front door was a mess of wet sand and silt. But hey, it's Key West. The site was extremely tight to back into for a 40' coach. We made it though and you'll need to be on your game to do it. Even maneuvering through the roadways is a challenge due to all the parked vehicles halfway out into the road. All that being said, we enjoyed our time here. Really friendly people and a very relaxed atmosphere. A very short drive or walk into Key West. One last thing, there is a navy base just to the east on Boca Chica. The jets were flying every day of our stay starting at 8am. It's loud. If you are annoyed by loud jets then look elsewhere. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Very nice park and the location is great. Our site was waterfront but almost too short for our RV and tow vehicle, even though we had reminded them of our length. Tried to get them to move us to a larger site that was available but they would not even consider doing that, although specific sites are not reserved. The waterfront sites have great views. The park is laid out very well and great for walking and biking. The pool area is very nice. There is a large pavilion that is great for a large group to get together especially on a rainy day. Big drawback for our location: There were tent sites directly across the street in front of us which makes the area very congested and, at times, loud during the night. Because of the close proximity of the campsites beside of us, we had to ask our neighbor to move their vehicle so we could pull out from our site and we had to move our vehicle another day for the RV beside of us to be able to back in. It is expensive so just be aware it is LOCATION, LOCATION. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

There are a couple of really good restaurants within walking distance....Roostica (great pizza) and Delano's (yummy Cuban sandwiches). You can also catch the city bus into Key West but takes about 45 minutes to get there with all the stops along the way. Across Hwy 1, only 3-4 blocks from campground, there is a great paved walking/bike trail.

Nice park with all facilities. We had a back-in site near the office because we wanted to be close to the gate so we wouldn't be far from the bus stop to go down town Key West. We decided to drive, the trip by car is only 15 minutes and the bus is 45 minutes and we had no trouble finding parking on side streets two blocks from Duval St. Lots of restaurants and sidewalk bars. Stayed 3 nights. The event that week was Ernest Hemingway look alike contest at Sloppy Joe's Restaurant and Bar. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There's really nothing much between Florida City and Key west except a hundred miles straight road and island hopping until you hit key West.We left on Saturday and the traffic on the other side was bumper to bumper and many people towing boats. You're probably better off going during the week and leaving before or after Sunday because it's a big boating weekend resort area for people living in South Florida.

Boyd's Campground is GREAT!!! The staff is nice, office hours are great (open until 10pm). After office hours, security is on duty overnight. Security staff is also very friendly and helpful.

We went to the pool numerous times. The pool is clean and relaxing. The tiki hut is great as well. The laundry room is clean and security works with you if you need to use it past hours for emergencies or what may be.

We have a 40ft 5th wheel and we consider the sites comfortable and the neighbors were always friendly.

We have our own bathroom so we didn't use their facilities. However, we did see staff constantly cleaning the facilities.

The only con about the campground was our disappointment when we found out that we couldn't bathe in our waterfront spot or anywhere on the ground. This however, is not the fault of Boyd's. It's due to the water in the keys. I will say that our area did have a funky smell due to exactly this, the water. However, it wasn't anything that we couldn't live with.

Closet beach is 2 miles away, Smarhers beach. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Glad we did not visit during peak times cause it would not have been nice. We did arrive on Sunday afternoon of Memorial Day weekend. Wow, never seen anything like it. A mix of all camper types: but an amazing number of tents with their vehicles hanging out onto the one way road. Had to ask two people to move vehicles just to get to our site, then no way to back our 36 ft motor home into the site without asking someone else to move a vehicle. The next afternoon all the tents were gone, whew, I was fretting how we were going to get out in couple of days. But turned into a quiet campground, gravel sites, fairly level, full hook ups. Off season, water front site $110.00 per night. One of the nicer, closer campgrounds to Key West. I recommend staying here, but NOT on a holiday weekend. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

It's all about location - it's Key West and everything is very expensive. No discounts available. Rate was for off season FHU with our rig backed up to the water. Nice resort with paved roads and wide level sandy sites. All back-in sites with palm trees and some bushes between sites. Good satellite signal, cable TV, password protected WiFi and good cell signal. Several clean restroom and shower facilities, nice laundry, pool and store. Water on three sides and private boat ramp and dock. Park clean and staff helpful and friendly. Very busy on the weekends. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Office will help with rental scooter or cart delivered to campground. Don't take a taxi to downtown, only a few miles but $25 one way. If you want to go to Dry Tortuga Nat'l Park, need to reserve ferry 2 weeks in advance. Go to Mallory Square for sunset and street performers.

"Enjoyable safe park directly on the water"

A great place to camp. Lots of shade trees, ample room to park an rv (we have 35 ft tow behind). The lots on the water are 5 feet from the water. Will definitely book one of these next time. There was security at night checking anyone coming into park. Clean showers, laundry room and pool. General store on site in case you forgot anything. Getting down to Duvall street was not a problem. If you want to rent bikes or scooters a company would deliver and pick up from the campground. No problem accessing the wifi. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We initially camped in a waterfront spot (with the water inches from the back of our rig) for 4 days. We liked Key West and Boyd's so much that we stayed for another 4 days, this time in an "inland" spot for $105 a night. While we were there in mid-April there were lots of inland sites to choose from. Both of our sites had a concrete patio and a nice picnic table. There was a "beach" that was not for swimming that we used for launching our kayaks and swimming our dog. The campground was clean and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The laundry room was very clean and had lots of washers and dryers. The pool was pleasant, with Jimmy Buffet and his type of music piped in. There is a boat ramp and a dock. If you visit the dock, look for the pelicans roosting at night on the mangrove island just across the way. Other guests were friendly. On the weekend, the tent sites filled up but we didn't find it overly loud. The Naval Air Station is on the next Key down, and the jets take off and land all day long. They are very loud, but you get used to them. Key West could not be more convenient - just a few miles away. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a little Cuban restaurant across the street that sells breakfast and lunch to local folks. The food and coffee are delicious and probably the only thing in Key West that is reasonably priced. The Roostica Wood-Fired pizza was a little small and just OK considering the price. It was hard to get them to answer the phone to take our carry-out order.

We were lucky to get a spot for 5 days at Boyd's, but our overall impression of the park was, it is of mediocre value. Granted, you can't beat the location which allowed us to rent a scooter and that made it easy to go to/from town (we have no toad), so the location if why it was so expensive. The hookup's were okay, the cable mediocre, and the wifi was 100% useless unless you were within 20 feet of the office (even my booster didn't help). Verizon/Karma worked well. The site (#202) has a picnic table on a concrete pad, but the RV was on sand/grass, fairly level, with a couple of tall palm trees around. Most people were nice but a lot would avoid eye-contact. We were by the street and the noise was bothersome but tolerable. The roosters, though, started at 4am and kept it up until about 9am. Ugh. Our neighbor was an employee that lived there; he was pleasant in the few face-to-face encounters, but he and his visitors were quite loud up to midnight. We didn't use any facilities except for laundry, and it was adequate. There did seem to be a lot of activities, for those that like that. They also let us send mail and packages to their address, which was nice. But it was all QUITE expensive. We camped at Boyd's Key West Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Rented a scooter from Sunshine Scooters, and was happy with the value. We did the seaplane ride to Dry Tortugas and can highly recommend it. We also visited the Butterfly Exhibit, Mel Fisher museum, Hemingway's home, the Truman Little White House tour, all of which I highly recommend.
