Stayed one night in a 27 foot motorhome with tow car in site 26. This park is a long way out of the way for a one night stay but I like staying at state parks. Beautiful campground in middle of a shady hammock. Looked out on open forest. Totally dark and quiet at night. Huge site. This is a place to come to and stay a while preferably with a boat! Down the road is a camp store, a boat ramp, a marina and a day use area. Only problem I had was the trails. I travel with my dog and we like hiking preferably on a loop trail. There were no short -- as in a few miles -- trails. Just mega ones. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed 2 nights at Lake Kissimmee State Park and will definitely do it again as we live fairly close.

We found it to be quite enjoyable; it's off the beaten path, very large (the park itself) and has nice private camp sites with plenty of room. Most sites are compacted crushed shell and sand, very level with plenty of room for a screen room or tent plus chairs and whatever else you bring. They each have a fire ring and picnic table. Some sites (maybe 15 %) have concrete pads (I guess for Handicap access or large rigs). The bathroom/shower facilities are very close no matter what site you have and very clean.

We are bike riders and absolutely loved the hiking trails. There are 2 trails that are each 6+ mile loops with many connector trails. These loops are very well marked and they provide a nice accurate map. The Trails are mostly wide pine forest with few roots and some sandy places but very few places that might require you to get off your bike and walk it. We loved riding them! We saw many deer while out. Also, do check out the Cow Camp, it's a slice of FL history.

On weekends, the lake is awash with Airboats, so you can pretty much constantly hear them roaring in the background, but we found it to be pretty benign, kind of like having a railroad track nearby.

There is no wifi except at the "general store" and cell coverage is very spotty, but for a weekend getaway, that's perfect. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in one of our favorite campsites, very private, & plenty of room for tents, screen room, & or having a corn hole game. We've stayed at this campground numerous times and have noticed the deterioration of the park, especially the roads. It's a 3 mile ride @15mph from the gate to the campsites allowing great viewing of the park and animals [deer & turkey] plus smaller animals. The road is in disrepair & narrow with many S curves requiring a pull off if meeting another RV. There's ongoing construction at the canal near the Marina. Fishing has been very disruptive by this.

My personal opinion is that this well visited State Park could benefit from a new campground with 50 amp and full hookups including sewer. Higher rates could be asked for the privilege of a more modern campsite. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Motorhome.

Great for a complete getaway as it is miles to the nearest town, wifi only available at the campstore , spotty cell phone service and our site was heavily treed so no satellite TV. Our site was spacious and fairly private with enough room for a sleeping tent, dining tent, motorhome and parking for two cars. Lots of wildlife, we saw bobcats, deer and many birds. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed 3 nights at this wonderfully isolated park. You will need to bring everything with you as not much is available close by. There are many hiking trails. We hiked a couple trails along with some exploring other areas. The observation tower has a great view of the lake. Fishing is allowed on the porch of the General Store. There are canoe and kayak rentals available. Check out the old Cow Camp on Saturday. We had a bobcat with 2 kittens and deer visit our campsite in the evening. Our site was under a couple big oak trees with lots of shade. We had no trouble backing our 22 ft trailer. The was some noise from air boats in the background. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed 2 nights. This park is very isolated and has a nice boat ramp and hiking trails. We hiked one trail that was a little over 2 miles long and climbed up the observation tower for a wonderful view of the lake and park! You can fish in the boat ramp area and around the day use pavilions. You should have a Florida fresh water fishing licence. They have canoes and boats for rent. Make sure you bring everything with you and gas up before you get to the park. We had wild turkeys and 2 deer visit us right behind our trailer both mornings. The sites are all under big oak trees with lots of shade. The loops are not too tight. There were some big rigs parked there. I had no trouble backing our 25 ft travel trailer in. We could not put our awning out which was fine, we didn't need it as the weather was perfect! The air boats are loud but background noise for a few minutes does not bother us. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Travel Trailer.

I can't say enough good things about this park. Each campsite was private, spacious, and beautiful. The showers and bath houses were clean and in beautiful shape. The rangers were nice and helpful. Next time I will plan to stay longer. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Motorhome.

Very pretty campground surrounded by cows and oranges. It's off the beaten path so make sure to bring what you need. Sites are level and covered with shells and dense vegetation. Restrooms are huge, modern and clean. Saw a single washer/dryer outside the restroom. No Verizon 4G but you can access Internet near the camp store. We are Florida campers. We camp mostly at state parks. This is our favorite. All the previous reviews tell it all. What's great about it is the wildlife, (deer that come right into the campsite, turkey, sand hill cranes, armadillo and wild boars). We come every November with our camping group, Florida Potluck Campers. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park for camping without electricity! Electric was non-existent for us as we were in a motorhome. Voltage was at 105 so we were not able to use the microwave or AC. Even the TV would shut off as the power would dip so low. They know they have a big problem and say they are working on it so I would call before going if you require electric. The park and sites are beautiful but if you don't have a boat and like to fish, there is nothing to do and you are in a very remote area. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Motorhome.

Trails are bikeable with hybrid/mountain cycles. Gobbler Ridge (2.4 miles with some walk it sand) went down to Lake Kissimmee. Saw sandhill cranes and deer. North Loop Trail (4-6 miles) was well marked but not much seen other than pine needles and 2 tortoises. Well kept with friendly rangers. Worth a couple days. Large rigs should avoid site 13 despite 40' rating. All sites have foliage so get out the OTA antenna, dish won't work. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Motorhome.

This is one beautiful place. The campground is four miles from the entrance, which is nine miles from the highway. Sites are well separated and spacious, with shade from trees. Bathrooms are very clean and everything works. It's the first state park I've seen with laundry facilities. Trails to the restrooms are laid out so that no one needs to cut through campsites. At night it is dark and quiet. No Verizon and barely an AT&T signal. Good Wi-Fi at the Marina. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Motorhome.

This is an odd state park. I'll cover the camping sites first. All are back-in, surrounded by dense palmettos, pines, and live oaks. The "pad" is crushed shells and most sites looked level or fixable. Plenty of room on most sites. Privacy was good due to the dense vegetation. Restrooms were clean, showers were clean and private. For camping, the camping area was very good; no complaints. Now to the road. The campground is 3 miles from the entrance station along a road that wanders aimlessly through the palmettos and pines. I counted 56 separate turns in the road through a flat area between the entrance and campground. There are no spots to pull over on the road and nothing to do except pick up a trail crossing the road. But, with nowhere to park....The only parking in the whole park is at the small marina on a canal out to Lake Kissimmee. Without a boat, there is precious little to do besides 3-4 hikes. The park is 15 miles from Lake Wales and we chose it to visit Bok Tower Gardens. The nearest place to get a cup of coffee in the morning is about 3 miles away from the entrance station. There is a saloon across from the park entrance open in the evenings. We really like state parks, so would likely stay here again if in the area, but the road in the park was sure tedious; best driven as though on a slalom ski course. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Motorhome.

State senior rate shown. Great park about 15 miles from Lake Wales. Seems much further. We were there twice-November, 2013 in site 4 for 4 days and site 21 March, 2014 for 5 days. Privacy was good with brush and trees between most sites. Perimeter sites were the best with forest and wildlife right behind the sites. We don't fish but many people did and you could hear boats on the lake into the evening, especially air boats. Restrooms were clean and located at the center of the 2 circular loops and easily accessible from everywhere with paved and unpaved paths. We camped at Lake Kissimmee State Park in a Travel Trailer.
