What an amazing little FL state park located in the keys! Extremely difficult to get reservations, but if you are lucky enough, you are in for a real treat. 25 reservable sites and none are bad. Prime spots are on the ocean front, but it's an easy short walk to the beach from anywhere in the park. Some sites have a large tenting area which is also great for outdoor sitting. The park did take a significant hit from Irma, but is better than before. New gravel with new hookups. Limited vegetation, which means limited shade, but you also enjoy amazing ocean views. Excellent kayaking, and a walking trail across the highway which we didn't enjoy due to loud traffic noise. The park itself is surprisingly quiet though. Very dog friendly with waste bags and dog treats at the ranger station. Clear sky for satellite reception and good AT&T & Verizon service. We hope to be back, but with the difficulty getting reservations, we're not counting on it. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice park that was built in 2005. There is only one loop so limited number of sites. Convenient beach access and boat ramp with picnic tables, pavilion etc. Sites are all level gravel. Some sites bigger than others; our 44' with toad was doable but tight. Easy back-in sites. Utilities were good. No sewer except at dump station. A lot of crabs and lizards-some big ones-live there. They had temporary trailer mounted bathroom/shower area while the bathhouse was being remodeled. These temporary units were very clean and had A/C. While we were there the bathouse reopened. It was very nice but no A/C therefore very hot and muggy. There is no overflow parking. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Marathon is about 5 miles away with a Publix, Kmart, Home Depot and restaurants etc. Generally stuff is more expensive in the Keys so be prepared for that.

This is the second time we have stayed here at this wonderful small State Park. Staff was friendly and helpful at check in. Interior roads are paved and big rig access was average. Our site was very spacious, plenty of space for our towed, lots of privacy between sites, shade trees, picnic table and barbecue. Our pad was a level gravel back in, and it was very quiet and peaceful both day and night. The campground is located with vegetation between the site and the beach, so you only get a peak of the water. Bathrooms were undergoing renovations, and work should be finished soon. There is a security gate 24/7, which we liked. Pet friendly and plenty of places to walk your pet. Plenty of food stores, restaurants and sightseeing close by. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The beautiful clean beach has shallow water, just perfect for kayaking.

Don't believe the pictures online... We stopped there for a few nights on our way to the Keys. The park is in a great location and fairly clean, great beach and a great sunset views. The only issue we had is that the park is way overgrown (picture Jumanji) you can't even see the ocean from your site and the ocean is only yards away :( We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

The sites were very spacious and clean. There are other campers within view but still far enough away. There are iguanas everywhere and will come around the campsite, they're curious but won't come close enough to touch (which is s good thing). We had a few crab holes around the site which was cool to see that far up from the water. The bathrooms were clean but were having work done to them when we were there so the water temperature was touch and go.. the work should be done by now though. There's a small park with a beach area within walking distance and I believe they rent kayaks from there. There's shopping, grocery and fast food nearby and some really nice restaurants with awesome sunsets. Key West is a short drive away, with the money we saved by staying at the park and not in Key West we were able to take many day excursions. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for a week. Very quiet small campground. All sites are easy to get into and very large. Bushes between the sites.I have an ATT hot spot and no problems getting service. The entire park is a small park with little traffic. Would stay here again. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

Wonderful park in every way. Interesting reading negatives re: TV, Wi-Fi, full hookups, etc. Sewer not part of Florida SP with exception of ones that were previously private, e.g., Top Sail. The private parks on the Keys are expensive with close sites. Curry Hammock is a gem. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were lucky enough to be there when they had a star gazing group. We couldn't get enough of star gazing and were up at 3 am outside our trailer which was spectacular. The beach was long and great for kayaks. They have large Iguanas at the campground and on most of the keys so we had visitors to our campsite a couple of times. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Travel Trailer.

First let me state we enjoy the Florida State Parks. Especially Top Sail, Bahia Honda and Henderson. But this park did not live up to those standards. First making reservations through Reserve America was a little misleading with the pictures of the sites. It appears the photos there are at least 10/15 years old. The sites have overgrown with small trees, scrubs and weeds. This causes a safety problem because of the amount of snakes in this park. You can have a snake within feet of you at your campsite and never know it unit you happen to step into the weeded area. Little is done to maintain the sites other than to rake the gravel when someone leaves. With all the overgrown vegetation what little breeze there is stopped. When we were there the typical daily high was in the mid/upper eighties with a heat index of 104! Without any air movement it's extremely uncomfortable. We had electrical problems with the power pedestal. The 20 amp outlet failed. The showers were clean, but the men's shower did not have any hot water and the women's shower did not have any cold water. Then the worst of our experience. We were swarmed with a massive amount of ants. The ants literally cover the outside of our RV. This was the first time in 12 years of camping that we were forced to leave a campground because of insects. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

We agree with the previous review but as for the "shuffling", that's the price you pay when reservations are made for specific sites. With that said, this was the first time we were able to book this site. We had site 11 which had plenty of shade but still were able to get satellite reception. Our only disappointment was that we had no view of the ocean because of the sand dunes. I believe that is the case of all sites. Restrooms are built up on stilts to protect them from high water from hurricanes (as is in most Florida State Parks). Plenty of hot water-solar/electric heat. We had a great stay of one week. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

Find another place to park your RV in the Keys with hookups that's not a slum for $40/night other than a state park. You can't. Curry Hammock is awesome. The park is small, quiet, & clean. The staff even rake the gravel at every site. The park has a nice beach, but lousy swimming even at high tide. You can drive 15 miles down to Bahia Honda and pay $10 to swim/snorkel off what is probably the best beaches in the Keys. Still cheaper and better than anywhere else. No TV service, but we had 4 bars of 3G on Verizon at Curry Hammock, only 1 bar of 1X at Bahia Honda. My only complaint about Curry Hammock is my complaint about all Florida State Parks...the Reserveamerica.com reservations system is awful. We booked the days we wanted but were going to have to shuffle sites 3 times. The park staff was able to move us into a site where we only had to shuffle once. We noticed on RA.com the park was booked for the weekend we were there, but there were several open sites. Book the days you want even if it's on multiple sites and hope there are openings where you don't have to move when you arrive. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Travel Trailer.

There are no bad sites in this small park. Certainly, the ocean-front sites are lovely but we have no problem booking anywhere here (already booked for next year - this is a high-demand park). The nearby beach is small and subscribes to conservation principles which keep detritis on the sand. The water is calm because of an offshore reef which absorbs the Atlantic wave action. Keep an eye out for Man-O-Wars, however. Sunsets/sunrises can be spectacular! We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

Not sure what happened with the last reviewer, but we found the camp hosts to be the nicest and most helpful we have ever found. The rangers were not really personable, but they were still professional. There is an outside shower just under the bath house near the beach access that is available for washing your feet, or showering off the sand and salt. Very accessible and in full view along with a dish washing counter and area. Sure, the natural flora and fauna is starting to take hold, since there was none after they cleared the area when they built this new park. It is a state park and is meant to be natural. I did not give them a perfect "10" due to not only no sewer hookup, but no coin laundry at the bath house like most other state parks. Makes it tough to stay more than a week. The only coin laundry is all the way into town. We made a lot of trips with our little grey water portable tank to the dump station. No TV signal on a roof top antenna, but it is the Keys, and this park is very remote. Not the park's fault. My AT&T cell phone and internet worked just fine. One thing I wish they would change is the Hawk Watchers that totally take over the bath house in September and October. They are constantly in the way with their tripods and equipment, making it uncomfortable to get by them to use the showers. Park needs to re-locate them to a different spot, they don't belong at the bathhouse. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Motorhome.

Do not believe the photos you see on the Reserve America website. They are way outdated. The sites are much overgrown since those pics were taken. We had to move a picnic table to be able to let out our slides or they would have hit the trees and shrubs. The campground host became belligerent because we moved the picnic table but it was the only way we could get past the overgrown brush. We reserved an oceanfront site according to Reserve America website, but when we arrived we couldn't actually see the ocean because the brush was too overgrown. And the smell was horrible from the sea grass on the beach. C.H.S.P. was the only state park in Florida that we went to that would not allow you to walk on the grass, or use their water to rinse the sand off of your feet. They are very strict about everything and the CG host patrols the park like a constable trying to catch campers violating (his so called) rules. We were glad to get out of there, and won't be going back. We camped at Curry Hammock State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
