Very friendly staff. Guided us to our site. Easily allowed us to change dates when schedule changed. Mainly full time park models with a few trailer/motor home sites. Good for one night stay traveling through. Site was large, gravel, with full hook ups. Picnic table was warped, peeling and assume not used. Not a destination campground. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Key Lime Pie is excellent and available almost everywhere. Lots of shopping areas near and a RV supply store just south on Highway 1.

This review must have been intended for another property, not for Grassy Key RV Park & Resort, Marathon FL. Our resort accommodates RVs only (motorhomes, 5th wheels, travel trailers); there are no full-time park models allowed. We have all new picnic tables that are checked and maintained daily. Please try us on your next visit to the Florida Keys. We are definitely a destination RV resort!

This is our 3rd stay at this RV park. The Florida Keys are a bit different in that it's either gravel or grass. Not much hard surface because of the coral below. Having said that this is probably one of the nicest places in the keys. The pool is spotless and heated. The small clubhouse is extremely clean and it does have a laundry room. You should have an RV that is self contained. No showers. There is a small restroom in the clubhouse. It is a very quaint place and our 3 dogs love it here. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Small RV park with most sites close to each other, but not too close. Great gravel surface, level, with good hookups and cable (extra $), good WiFi. Laundry room was clean. Lots of people with pets, all were quite friendly. The park is right on the water but just like most of the Keys, no beach. There is a boat basin and small jetty. Iguana's in the mangroves. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

One night we walked along the highway (separate path away from the road) to Grassy Key Outpost and bought a key lime pie. They also serve food. Another night we walked to Hideaway Cafe (about twice as far as to Outpost) for a very nice dinner.

This is a small RV park (which I like) very clean. Sites are gravel, choice of back in at the water or only slightly further away nice pull throughs. Level new gravel throughout the park, no sand that will get into your rig. Great cable TV and good wifi. In the middle of the Keys so good location for sight seeing. Close to highway but not much noise. Office staff was helpful, I would stay here again. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Did not feel we got a warm welcome. Gentleman never introduced himself, but was very adamant about the park rules. Park is NOT dog friendly. It is all gravel, which is extremely hot and hard on paws. Pet walk area is outside the park on Rte 1. No place for dogs to run and play. Staff were not overly friendly. Laundry facility is in an inconvenient area, expensive, but clean. Pool was clean. Lizard droppings everywhere- large ones. Never saw staff cleaning the dock area which was loaded with it. However, dock area was nice, nice tiki hut to sit under and easy to launch kayaks. Very disappointed. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Marathon is a good choice for the Keys for the ease to go to Key West, or up to Key Largo. Lots to do and see. Nice biking and kayaking. There are plenty of other places to stay in Marathon. Look elsewhere especially if you have a dog.

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for the entire month of May. When we arrived, we were one row back from the waterfront row, and the next day moved into the waterfront row. We were supposed to move one more time during our stay, but the excellent staff did some shuffling and we were able to stay put.

The head honcho must be ex-millitary, because he runs a tight ship. He let us know right up front that if you're caught speeding or carrying on throughout the night with excess noise, you'll be told to leave right there and then (which was fine with us). The resort has a nice dock, and people would launch their boat elsewhere and then drive it over and tie up.

I can't remember if they offered cable TV or not, but I DO remember their WiFi policy, which frankly was disappointing. They would monitor usage, and if you exceeded a certain amount of MB, you were kicked off for the rest of your stay. The amount they allow was not very much (we exceeded it in just a few days), and frankly, with today's computers, smartphones and tablets often needing hundreds of MB just to keep the OS, apps and anti-virus software up-to-date (and doing so automatically once they sensed that they were connected to an internet source), Grassy Keys should've offered a solution where you could get basic (slow) service for free, and faster unlimited service for a fee. Just kicking you off with no recourse is just wrong in this day and age.

One thing we liked were the iguanas constantly coming in from the adjacent "jungle" and strolling over the docks and sandy areas. We're from the Seattle area, so it was interesting to us.

Get one of the waterfront spots if you can, as the views north into the Gulf of Mexico are spectacular. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If we had it to do over again, we'd have picked a resort closer to Key West. We chose Marathon Island because it was midway between Key Largo and Key West, but for us at least, Key West was the place to be, and it is a long drive (and often slow, as two-lane roads can be) there and back. There's shopping a few miles down the road, a quiet little 9-hole Par 3 golf course nearby, and the Crane Point Museum and Nature Center.

Spaces are tight here, only because the place was 1/2 empty I could get in and out with my 40' RV. No beach here. Pool is really small. It's only half way between Largo and Keys, there are better places closer to Keys at better prices, this one is over priced. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This a beautiful resort in the Florida Keys, it sits on a picture perfect Bay and is small and quiet. The sites are spacious and well landscaped and the equipment is all new. The staff here is outstanding, they go out of their way to make us comfortable and to help with anything we need. This is our fifth year staying here and we plan to come back next winter. This resort books up for winter far in advance, so make your reservations early! We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots of great restaurants, the park managers always know the best places. Dolphin Research Center right next door is wonderful - one of the staff is in the know about that, we were here when two baby dolphins were born. They have a great paved bike path at the park's edge, you can ride all the way into Marathon. Terrific sunsets at tiki hut and tables on the waterfront.

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

We made reservations 6 months ago, and on the day of our arrival (after driving 1200 miles to get there) were told if we weren't arrived by 5pm on check in day that we couldn't set up. After my wife talked to them, we were told we could park out front, with no hookups, overnight "as a favor"...but still paying the $90 overnight rate. Of course we'd have to move first thing in the morning. We spoke to them again, and seeing that we were staying here for 7 nights, they decided to make an exception and that the host would be there for us when we arrived. When we arrived (at 5:30pm) I was reminded at least a dozen times what a huge inconvenience it was to arrive late (yet his fifth wheel is at the entrance). I was then guided to site 10, out of 38 very tight sites. That's right, I drove across country 1200 miles on multiple highways and cities- but their "policy" states that I can not navigate to site 10 without an escort because obviously I can't count to ten. There are no family friendly facilities here, playground, etc which is okay. There is no bathhouse which is okay. Laundry facilities are coin op and nice. The is a tiki bar to sit at, but no drinks served, etc...it's a sitting spot. You can not swim from their dock, the water is 2 ft deep. You can't fish from their dock, signs prohibit it. The site was level. The whole place is gravel, no asphalt or concrete anywhere. The view is incredible, but the sites are close. All sites will hear road noise from Rt 1, which I imagine applies to all campgrounds in Marathon. Management staff gave our neighbor heck for driving their Harley's in the gravel to get them off their huge toy hauler which was the only way to get them off, then they lost their cable outlet because a Class A came in, and there was no provisions to have cable to both sites. I definitely will NOT stay here again purely due to their arrival policy - because the last thing I need after a long (stressful) drive is someone telling me that despite four college degrees and after navigating 1200 miles across country that I can't count in a logical fashion to find site ten, that I can't be one minute late to checkin, nor be told a dozen times what an inconvenience I am being as a customer staying for a full week. How incredibly disrespectful and demeaning. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Best price in the keys with best sites perfect for big rigs like us in a 43' 5th wheel. Loved the cooled pool, foliage between sites, dock, pier with tiki hut, and reliable wifi! Excellent location close to shops and restaurants. Easily accessible to Key West without all the traffic to deal with everyday! Only con was we had a waterfront site but they are setup for motorhomes so we had water and electric lines running under our 5th wheel that we had to step over constantly, but super nice owner did provide an extension for our electric. Glad they did have an extra sewer hookup on the correct side for us though! We will be back! We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice level gravel sites, a bit close, but the park managers guide you in. Good, well-maintained park with a nice pool and a gulf-side marina with tiki hut to enjoy the sunsets. No laundry. We were there in the height of the season, so the prices were a bit steep. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park. Small, well maintained CG. Has 10 marina/waterfront sites, 2 ultra premium waterfront, and a mix of others just back from the water and small marina. Good in and out for big rigs. Gravel throughout with level sites. All sites have picnic tables. Clubhouse with a nice laundry facility and one restroom (toilet only) for the entire park. It is is open 9 am to 8 pm. There is a nice pool as well. Cable TV is provided and so is a very iffy Wi-Fi. We gave up on Wi-Fi after the first day as the data rate was almost nonexistent. In fact, if there was a good Wi-Fi I would rate the park a 10. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.

Great rv park! Very clean, nice view, good price. We've been upgraded for free. I don't know what reason but they gave us the best "standard plus" site they have! Was really nice from them. The only minor issue I had was that I was washing my rv and I've been told to stop that I didn't read the rules or I need to pay 25$ for water. Nowhere in the rules says that but anyway I understand that water is precious. A bit far from Key West, 1hour 15min, but we knew it before. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate is based on pay for two nights one night free. It is a small park but has a great view of the Gulf if you have a water view site. It is tight but you can manage with a 45' motor home. Has a nice Tiki hut where people gather and have happy hour. Nice small clean pool. Management very friendly and escort you to your site. Bike paths near by. Great restaurants within a seven mile drive or less. Will return in the future. We camped at Grassy Key RV Park & Resort in a Motorhome.
