An amazing, county run campground on an island in the Intracoastal Waterway. No shade but many of the sites are right on the water. There's a restaurant and bait shop right at the entrance to the park. Check in was quick and easy. The only complaint is that many of the other campers didn't have their dogs on leashes. There are many beach access points and several state parks in the area. We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Spent a week on a waterfront site and enjoyed it. Fishing right out back was very handy. Whity's fishing tackle just to the north has everything you need. Large enough site [no paving] and was able to position the camper for a river view. If you need something you better bring it with you. It's a drive to most anything. 2 restaurants to the north. Park rangers kept everything tidy. Clear view for satellite or Orlando on the antenna. No sewer, but we can stretch a week on the holding tanks and use the bath house. They have a dump station. We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice location near Sebastian Inlet. Great beach accesses in Brevard County but their park could use a little TLC. Heavily used when we were here in March and it really shows. County commissioners: please put some $$ back into the place!

Odd sites where some pull straight in, some back in, some go sideways. The spaces require some thought on how to park so you are level. Picnic table was burned in spots and falling apart, and fire ring had trash and cat poop in it from tennants before. Litter in the mangroves galore. BUT great water access if you are on a water site!

You share a power post so make sure to have an extention cord that will run the length needed.

The kayaking was really good with lots of dolphins and birds. We had two eagles above us on the last day. The bathrooms are heavily used and showed the wear and tear as such. Your site can be exposed to high winds if on the West or the South side so be aware of that when booking. We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The tackle shop/convenience store on the corner had fantastic smoked fish dip. The New England Eatery and Pub was tasty. We also ate at the Sebastian Roadside Restaurant which was really good. We would go back to both when we return.

Publix to the north was 11 miles.

Off road bike trail right at the part entrance along the mosquito control ditches and down to the marina and the park. Cool views! Fishing Museum at the state park was interesting.

This is a good place for kayaking or boating and fishing. Other than that, it's not very interesting. My bad for not researching this more fully, I thought it would be a good base camp for exploring the area. Wrong - it is at least 25 minutes to anything, except the state park (lots to do there). No place really to ride a bike, unless you want to risk the long, narrow and twisty road to the path on AIA. Around the water, sites are packed in like sardines. Off the water, it is like a grassy parking lot. Good things were a very fast check-in and great wifi. The grounds were clean but the bathhouse was gross. The wildlife pond was surrounded by cattails and tall weeds, you could barely see the water. People were not friendly, no one waves they just stare as you drive by. I would not stay here again. Very picturesque. Many sites directly on water. Sites are kind of close together but it's a really beautiful Campground. The Orientation allows for great sunset views. Dolphins swam by. We were able tho open our back patio right by the water. Interior sites all were on grass. We could tell there had been some storm damage fairly recently. Our site was washed out a bit. We had a back-in waterfront site that was long enough for our rig, but ended up not being very wide. The electric and water hookups are "shared" between two sites and since we were on the right of the hookups we had to park close enough for our electric and water hose to fit under our rig to the hookups. As a result, this did not allow for as much room as we would have liked for our patio area. Our site was next to a large, beautiful tree which provided welcome shade. The root system from the tree was raised out of the ground and made it bothersome walking and for placing our patio. The sites are sand and our site was not level at all. There was a nice opening between the mangroves for us to put our kayak in the water. Bring bug spray... the minute you walk near the mangrove trees you will get attacked by mosquitoes. Overall we enjoyed our stay with the water for fishing and kayaking and beach access. One odd experience during our stay... we went out to dinner one night, and upon our return our fire ring was gone. Our next door neighbor had a fire going, so we asked if they took our ring. They said they did. They left the next morning and never bothered to return the ring. We thought this was a bit rude. We were told by another camper that this park used to be a state park and since the county took it over it is not kept up quite as well. We would stay here again, however we would be sure our site would be on the left side of the hookup station. We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

We spent three nights here and enjoyed our stay, although it was very windy almost the entire time and we just a little bit of a severe thunderstorm that mostly passed to the south of the campground. Our dog, on a leash of course, really enjoyed the very large grassy area in the middle of the campground. We backed our trailer up to an opening in the mangroves and had a lovely view out our large rear window of the Indian River. The back of our trailer was no more than six feet from the water. We saw dolphins swim by, some very close, every day. The staff seemed to stay very busy trimming grass, picking up litter, etc., and were very friendly. We were there from Tuesday until Friday and while the campground was pretty full it was quiet. Fellow campers were polite and friendly. While we did not use the restrooms or showers, my wife did go into one of the older restrooms and said that while it was getting a bit long in the tooth it was very clean. Our picnic table looked old, weathered and stained. We had good Verizon signal and LTE. We recommend this campground. As others have said, the closest Publix grocery store is 10 miles north on A1A, on the left. Sebastion Inlet was a neat place. We had one lunch at Captain Hiram's unique place in Sebastian and it was pretty good. I had the grouper fish and chips and my wife had some great fried oysters.

This park has many waterfront sites and is close to Sebastian Inlet so it fills up fast. We had a site on the water but the mangroves blocked any view. This was our first camping trip in our new travel trailer so we were mainly checking out how everything functioned and learning the ropes. I had been to the park before as a day tripper and enjoyed fishing there, and that seems to be the main recreational activity along with kayaking. We brought our dog who was allowed everywhere in Long Point, but when we went to Sebastian State Park she was only allowed in the parking lot, so no beach, no jetty, no docks, etc. She doesn't do well being alone so we just hung out at camp. Our site was small and the ground was rather uneven, and of course the utilities were on the wrong side of the camper, something we first-timers didn't consider when making reservations. There is no shade and no barriers of any kind between sites so you will get to know your neighbors. Bath house was ok, there were several in the park but we only used the one closest. There is a boat ramp and dock, and a bridge that goes to an island that is nice for a short walk or wade fishing. Some of the larger RV sites have sewer, but most sites do not. If we stayed here again I would try to get a site on open water because the view is amazing. We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Camped with husband, 13 yr old and 8 year old sons, as well as dog. Campground is surrounded by intercoastal water, great for kayaking, canoeing, boating or just lounging near. Most all outer sites have good water access. Our site, 64, had a wonderful shady water entry, although had a little bit of sea wall material. Closest bathroom was about 100 yards. It would be nice if they put another one further down to serve those in sites ranging around 62-82. My boys loved the huge open grassy field in the middle of park. The guests ranged in age from very young to elderly. Sites were spacious enough. Great place to bring your bikes! We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Travel Trailer.

We really wanted to like this park more. The park is situated on an island which has birds, dolphins, a walkway out to another island, and lots of biking out of the island to state parks and a wildlife sanctuary. With that said, the park itself has some long term residents that make the park look trashy. We saw many dogs off leashes, trash, multiple families on a campsite, and children running around unsupervised. If rules were made and enforced, or if stays were limited to two weeks like state parks, some of this could be avoided. Wifi didn't work. Site was level but we saw many that were not. We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Motorhome.

Large campground, waterfront sites are smaller than the ones in the center. It was very windy so we did not have an issues with no-seeums or mosquitoes. We did not see many campers outside, maybe due to the wind. Lots of Class A RVs in campground. There are lots of small trees but not large enough to shade the sites, in most cases. Newer restrooms are across from the bridge to Scout Island. Showers are OK in the older bathhouse (6 on women's side), but the restroom is very run down. Lots of birds around including Wood Storks. Make reservations - fills up on weekends where 2 nights minimum for reservation. Publix groceries & deli 10 miles to the north on AIA. If you don't want to drive to ocean, bring a bicycle as the entry road is long. Several beach parks along AIA with free parking. Erna Nixon Park in Melbourne has a nice boardwalk for a walk in the woods.

We stayed here over Christmas in 2016. The park was almost completely full but it didn't feel crowded. Many people had decorations out and some folks down from us even made snow at night! There was a good breeze that helped keep the noseeums at bay but they were out when the breeze stopped. We cooked out in the park provided fire ring every day. We had a partial view of the water. Christmas morning I was waiting for our dogs to finish eating when a pod of dolphins started jumping out of the water about 40' from the back of my RV!!!! It was magical and made the holiday trip that much better! The bathrooms aren't new but they were reasonable clean. I only took one shower there to keep from filling my grey tank towards the end of our stay. Using the dump station was very fast and easy. There was constant ranger presence as they drove around on golf carts all day and night. We were very close to the bathrooms and saw him cruising by at 2am when I went to the bathroom. Made me feel very safe. The air does have a brackish water smell but you are staying on an island surrounded by brackish water so I feel that is to be expected. Overall we REALLY enjoyed our stay and plan to return. Because of the lack of natural shade, it will always be in the winter months though..... Few campgrounds offer the great waterfront sites this one does. They are directly on the water. Our fire ring was literally about 5 feet from the waters edge. The Indian River is absolutely beautiful. The campground is well maintained and the staff was very friendly. The water does have an odor as some reviewers have noted. However, the accessibility to the water and cleanliness of the campground make it worth dealing with that. We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 4th of July weekend. The park was full. Our spot was nice with a small opening in the bushes to allow access to the water. No shade so bring your own; it is an island with some trees on the edge. We had 50 amp service and water, no sewer. The water is easily the worst I have ever experienced before. It is saturated with sulfur and the smell is very very strong. Since we didn't have sewer I used the showers at the park. They were sandy and dirty, I blame this on the other guests more then the park itself. The bathroom was not clean either, no air in there, it was hot and humid. Taking a shower was really hell. If we go back I will fill our tanks with fresh water first. We lost power one night from a storm, water too as it is a well, and then half the park lost power the next day as well as water for the whole park for a short time.

Each day I walked the dogs and picked up beer cans and trash from other guests that had just left them anywhere. It is a shame, what a beautiful place on the water and people just don't care.

The 4th was great, we watched fireworks from all angles at the waters edge. Other guests were friendly, and it didn't look like to many long term people, there was a camp a few down from us that had signs of a long stay, but still not too bad. Be ready for mosquitoes, ants, and other critters as this is a state park, not a resort. The staff was friendly and happy to help. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Shop before you go, the closest grocery store is about 15 miles north.

Bring more then enough bottled water and I would fill your tanks with clean water as the water has a heavy sulfur smell.

The restaurant at the entrance is OK, stay away from the biscuits and gravy. The bait shop was expensive and the guy at the counter could care less about helping. Try Whities bait about 1/4 mile north on A1A for better prices and selection as well as friendly staff.

This campground has probably the best location possible for enjoying all natural aspects of Florida. You have immediate and close access to the southern Indian River Lagoon, nature trails on Scout Island across a neat wooden bridge over the creek, a sleepy beach just down the road at Sebastian Inlet, and if you bring watercraft, you can navigate deep into the natural Florida back country up the St Sebastian River on the west bank of the Indian River. Waterfront sites are what make this place so great, what's better than pulling your boat up to your site every afternoon? Facilities are average, which is expected at a county park, but as I said before, the location MORE than makes up for that. Stop reading and get on down to Long Point with your significant other and family and enjoy the outdoors! We camped at Long Point Park Campground (Brevard County Park) in a Travel Trailer.
