I loved this campground. Family friendly and as close to the Gulf of Mexico as you can get. The beach was beautiful, I could have spend a week there. We stayed in an upper beach site (further away) and it was great. No, we were not ON the beach, but our site was more spacious than the beach site and we didn't have to battle the sand the way sites close to the beach do. Sites were still tight, but a bit more spaced than sites closer to the beach and we were able to walk to the beach in 3 minutes. Service was great, they provided somebody to guide my husband backing the trailer in (that alone made the hefty price worthwhile), lots of activities to do, campground was clean, pools were pleasant, but I wasn't impressed by the bathrooms. They were not filthy, but they should have been a lot cleaner. I called 6 months in advance to make my reservation and I could only pick from 3 sites, if you're interested in staying make your reservation sooner than later! Overall it was lovely and I would love to go back one day! We camped at Camp Gulf in a Travel Trailer.

Well maintained park with quick service for any issues. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We stayed in 2 different location during our stay 714 and 416. We moved due to adding 2 extra days on our vacation and 416 was the only site available for our size rig. Most sites are back in but staff is very helpful on directing you in. I do wish the pools were a little more shallow for little kids (they are 4ft minimum). The best sites are the 700's in our opinion. Upper sites are the pet friendly and although we love dogs 5-6am in too early to hear yip yip yip. Was actually easier to keep sand at bay in the beach sites rather than the uppers do to the uppers being a dirt/sand combo (typical Florida soil) also had more insects on the upper park than lower. We already booked for next year for 10 days back in the beach sites. One of the employees was the biggest help through the week hope to see him next year! We camped at Camp Gulf in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved Camp Gulf and have made reservations to go back there next year. While it isn't the ritziest of campgrounds, you can't beat the neighborhood! We were in the Beach section, just steps from the Gulf of Mexico. Campfires are allowed so we were able to use our gas fire pit. We were escorted to our site and the escort served as "spotter" to help back in. All the staff were very nice and very helpful. The campground was surprisingly quiet. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a good variety of shops and restaurants in the area. We did the dolphin cruise on the Seablaster speedboat. It was fun but it wasn't very speedy. We did see some dolphins and a beautiful sunset from the boat. The wharf area seems like a happening place and we will spend more time there next year.

Hands down our favorite RV park anywhere. Just love it here. Usually we stay a few days as we traverse from Texas to other points in Florida, but this time we spent nine days here and loved every minute. YMMV, but we love the white sands, the perfect beech, the beyond perfect staff and the great restaurants and attractions in Destin. This is our ideal location and we'll go out of our way to find an excuse to stay at Camp Gulf. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

Very neat and clean with more activities than you can take advantage of in one day. Beach, pools, hot tub, activity centers, golfing and shopping close. Sites are well spaced for a resort on the beach and could be tight in places but campground hosts are great helping to park and streets are plenty wide for our 45 ft big rig. Daily rate this time of year is expensive but the location and amenities are well worth the price. Only downside to the area is traffic can be difficult on 98 at times. If you have kids this place should not be missed. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

Very expensive. Right on the beach. You cannot have a pet on the beach sights, not even a goldfish. Only had electric and water. The gray and black tanks were emptied by a honey wagon at an additional $10. Very nice spot. Would stay again. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed the first week in October 2017. The service was great. they helped guide me into my spot (729). its hard to believe how close you are to the ocean and we were several rows back. it was a short walk. this park was very kid friendly and had great activities at night. I will try to come back to camp gulf. there were plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. lots of big rv's were there and seemed to navigate with ease. I camped in a 30' travel trailer. We stayed in one of the Oaks Cabins in the North park. The cabin was perfect for us and had everything we needed to make our trip comfortable and enjoyable. The kitchen was fully stocked, including all cleaning supplies and paper goods. The cabin was clean and there was even a full bag of ice in the freezer when we got there. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The private beach area for Camp Gulf guest was clean and beautiful! The park offers free WiFi that had a good signal. We are looking forward to returning again soon! We camped at Camp Gulf in a Cabin.

My wife and I were there the first week of June, 2017. Our spot (753) was next to the road going to and from the beach. In the mornings we would watch everyone heading to the beach being all excited and full of energy and later in the evening watching most of the same people coming back wore out and sunburned. Yes, some of the spots are tight, yes, some of the kids get a little wild on bikes, and yes, there is sand. You will get sand in your camper, we swept ours out at least twice a day and we had a tub of water by the door to rinse our feet off. It is a little expensive but you are on the beach, the staff has activities for the kids, 2 pools and you probably only do this once a year. Also the staff is excellent. Everywhere you look there is a staff member on a golf cart with a radio more than willing to help you. The manager was excellent and actually every staff member we met were super great. I feel it is a little too much money but like I said earlier you are on the beach and we only go once a year for a weeks stay. If you love the beach it is a fun place to take your R.V. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Things to do when not raining is go to the beach. When raining go shopping at the outlet malls. After a few days at the beach and you have had enough sun take a day trip to Seaside, Florida and Panama City, Florida. Do not go to Whales Tail for dinner. It is not good!!! Spent $53.00 for my wife and I to eat and have a beer. The food is served on paper plates with plastic forks and knives.

As noted this camp is NOT cheap, but if you like the ocean and beach it's PRIME TIME ! Plenty of nice staff. Plenty of RV wash and service guys around also - although the fairly regular sound of pressure washers running can get old. Space is a little tight but manageable. Beach is really nice - ample room to spread out and get your tan on ! We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

This park has 4 things going for it. Great staff, and location, location, location. Without the friendly folks who work there and the absolutely gorgeous white sand beach, it would be mediocre at best, and certainly not worth anywhere near the going rate. It's a bit of a circus, absolutely full of families and kids on bikes who will happily zoom right in front of you and your rig so prepare to go very slowly through the park. This is a skinny but deep park on the beach side and they are making money off every square inch. If you own a shoe horn, bring it. It may come in handy getting in and out of your site. And make friends with your neighbors. You will be close throughout your stay. But wow, what a beach! We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $120.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at Camp Gulf for a week. It was very expensive, costing $120 per night. The park was more like an average $30-$40 a night park with access to a very nice beach on the gulf coast. We felt like we were paying an extra $80 a night just for the beach access. The park is about three blocks long and stretches all the way from Highway 98 to the beach. The majority of the sites have no view of the ocean and are a pretty long walk to the beach. There were 15 to 20 spaces right on the beach which would've been fun, but they cost over $200 a night. Spaces are very close together without much privacy. The landscaping is neglected and there were dying shrubs and leaves on the ground everywhere. Our neighbors slide was only 3 feet from our patio and we had to listen to their television every time we went outside. The park was also full of barking dogs, screaming children and noisy trucks. It was not at all peaceful. We have stayed in a few parks that approach this park in cost and they were much nicer. They had privately owned sites that were beautifully maintained and many amenities. If I were to return to the South Walton Beach area I would stay in a less expensive park and drive to the beach. Beach access and free parking are plentiful along this part of the golf coast. The staff at the park were friendly and very helpful. Restrooms were clean and there were two swimming pools. There were planned activities for children. If we had been traveling with children I might have given the park a slightly higher rating. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

A very nice, white sand, walk-able beach with usually gentle surf, and walking distance to good food. Oh and there's a rather large campground next to it. The campground consists of a wide variety of sites - some with shade, some not. Sites may be concrete, pavers, sand, or a mix of these. Some have decent spacing, others are awning to awning. Some are pretty level others not (a lot depends upon the length of your rig as a lot of the sites slope for at least part of the length) - we saw multiple rigs with front wheels noticeably off the ground. The upshot is that you want to be very careful in site selection for a larger rig - the reservation system appears to factor in only total site length not how much is mostly level. Power ok, water variable from 30-50psi (pressure was highly dependent on surrounding usage), sewer ok. Satellite access depends on the site with sites closer to the beach the best (less shade). OK road bike riding in campground and along the sidewalks out on the main road with a decent bike trail on 30A about 15min away by car. The only recycling is cans. Supposedly they go through the trash at the landfill, but other campgrounds in the area had more recycling on site. Verizon 5 bars, usually good speed; Tmobile 2-3 bars, adequate speed. Campground wifi good signal, but lousy speed. We tried at all times of the day over a month and never got a usable connection. Big rig access is very doable with some care. The trees are not trimmed high enough on the exit lane for taller rigs. We will stay here again. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.
