My wife and I were there the first week of June, 2017. Our spot (753) was next to the road going to and from the beach. In the mornings we would watch everyone heading to the beach being all excited and full of energy and later in the evening watching most of the same people coming back wore out and sunburned. Yes, some of the spots are tight, yes, some of the kids get a little wild on bikes, and yes, there is sand. You will get sand in your camper, we swept ours out at least twice a day and we had a tub of water by the door to rinse our feet off. It is a little expensive but you are on the beach, the staff has activities for the kids, 2 pools and you probably only do this once a year. Also the staff is excellent. Everywhere you look there is a staff member on a golf cart with a radio more than willing to help you. The manager was excellent and actually every staff member we met were super great. I feel it is a little too much money but like I said earlier you are on the beach and we only go once a year for a weeks stay. If you love the beach it is a fun place to take your R.V. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Things to do when not raining is go to the beach. When raining go shopping at the outlet malls. After a few days at the beach and you have had enough sun take a day trip to Seaside, Florida and Panama City, Florida. Do not go to Whales Tail for dinner. It is not good!!! Spent $53.00 for my wife and I to eat and have a beer. The food is served on paper plates with plastic forks and knives.

This park has 4 things going for it. Great staff, and location, location, location. Without the friendly folks who work there and the absolutely gorgeous white sand beach, it would be mediocre at best, and certainly not worth anywhere near the going rate. It's a bit of a circus, absolutely full of families and kids on bikes who will happily zoom right in front of you and your rig so prepare to go very slowly through the park. This is a skinny but deep park on the beach side and they are making money off every square inch. If you own a shoe horn, bring it. It may come in handy getting in and out of your site. And make friends with your neighbors. You will be close throughout your stay. But wow, what a beach! We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

As noted this camp is NOT cheap, but if you like the ocean and beach it's PRIME TIME ! Plenty of nice staff. Plenty of RV wash and service guys around also - although the fairly regular sound of pressure washers running can get old. Space is a little tight but manageable. Beach is really nice - ample room to spread out and get your tan on ! We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Camp Gulf for a week. It was very expensive, costing $120 per night. The park was more like an average $30-$40 a night park with access to a very nice beach on the gulf coast. We felt like we were paying an extra $80 a night just for the beach access. The park is about three blocks long and stretches all the way from Highway 98 to the beach. The majority of the sites have no view of the ocean and are a pretty long walk to the beach. There were 15 to 20 spaces right on the beach which would've been fun, but they cost over $200 a night. Spaces are very close together without much privacy. The landscaping is neglected and there were dying shrubs and leaves on the ground everywhere. Our neighbors slide was only 3 feet from our patio and we had to listen to their television every time we went outside. The park was also full of barking dogs, screaming children and noisy trucks. It was not at all peaceful. We have stayed in a few parks that approach this park in cost and they were much nicer. They had privately owned sites that were beautifully maintained and many amenities. If I were to return to the South Walton Beach area I would stay in a less expensive park and drive to the beach. Beach access and free parking are plentiful along this part of the golf coast. The staff at the park were friendly and very helpful. Restrooms were clean and there were two swimming pools. There were planned activities for children. If we had been traveling with children I might have given the park a slightly higher rating. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

Generally very nicely laid out but lacks space between sites. Avoid back in sites on the hill by the Activity center. Quite a slope and challenging to get level. Other sites closer to the highway or on the lower area closer to the ocean are level. Sand everywhere. If it bothers you, think twice. It's the beach after all. Cable TV had a poor signal. Satellite worked best for us. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

A very nice, white sand, walk-able beach with usually gentle surf, and walking distance to good food. Oh and there's a rather large campground next to it. The campground consists of a wide variety of sites - some with shade, some not. Sites may be concrete, pavers, sand, or a mix of these. Some have decent spacing, others are awning to awning. Some are pretty level others not (a lot depends upon the length of your rig as a lot of the sites slope for at least part of the length) - we saw multiple rigs with front wheels noticeably off the ground. The upshot is that you want to be very careful in site selection for a larger rig - the reservation system appears to factor in only total site length not how much is mostly level. Power ok, water variable from 30-50psi (pressure was highly dependent on surrounding usage), sewer ok. Satellite access depends on the site with sites closer to the beach the best (less shade). OK road bike riding in campground and along the sidewalks out on the main road with a decent bike trail on 30A about 15min away by car. The only recycling is cans. Supposedly they go through the trash at the landfill, but other campgrounds in the area had more recycling on site. Verizon 5 bars, usually good speed; Tmobile 2-3 bars, adequate speed. Campground wifi good signal, but lousy speed. We tried at all times of the day over a month and never got a usable connection. Big rig access is very doable with some care. The trees are not trimmed high enough on the exit lane for taller rigs. We will stay here again. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

This is a beach campground that has been in business for over 46 years. Our site was a beach front site. Backed up right on the beach sand. Maybe 200 feet to the Gulf of Mexico. If you don't like sand then don't pick this campground. If you like the beach you can't beat being so close. There are other sites not on the beach. 2 pools, one enclosed and heated. The campsites are packed in like a drug store parking lot but you have room to enjoy your site and then there is the beach. Lots and lots of nearby restaurants and shopping. Sites are $$$ but worth it. Just check out what it costs to stay in a hotel or condo close by. Cable TV and wifi available. Cable TV was good. Wifi was weak as is the case in most RV parks. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for 6 nights, right on the beach. PERFECT site and weather. Although the beach front sites are a little pricey, it was exactly what we wanted - front wheels in the sand, front window view of nothing but beach and Gulf of Mexico. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Beach front sites do not have sewer hookups and do not allow pets, but a pump out service is available. All other sites are full hookup and do allow pets. This was a perfect vacation for us, I do not recall a more serene or relaxing vacation anywhere. We will be coming here again, and looking forward to it. We will probably also rent one of the cabins for the children and grandkids so that we can take a vacation together but separate ;-) The sites on the beach are pretty close together, but the other sites looked more spacious. There are many site options to choose from, sunny to shady. Many activities are available at the RV park. No discounts are offered for the beach front sites at any time, but other sites do have discounts. The beach front sites can be pulled into or backed into - if you pull in for the view out your front window, make sure you have sufficient length for power, water and cable. The cable and wi-fi were decent. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Camp Gulf on one of the ocean front spots. They were very tight spots, but super cool. Lots of sand in the Motorhome, but an experience you can't get at a lot of places. We would stay here again for sure, but likely in a spot a bit back from the ocean. Very friendly staff, lots of things to do. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

My site was 724, about 50 yards from the water's edge. Just what I was looking for. Thankfully the escort was great at getting me backed in. I left at 6 AM and it was tight for my 40 ft motor home with jeep in tow because all the pickups that were not parked on their site correctly. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Motorhome.

As we arrived at Camp Gulf, we were met by a staff member to take us to our sight. The site was a little bit of a bugger to back our 35ft TT into, but the staff member stayed to help until we were in and unhitched. I would imagine that backing a decent sized trailer into these sites would have been very difficult for a novice. Camp Gulf is really two RV parks in one. We stayed in an upper park site which is good walk from the beach, but near pools, and the sites here are nicely spaced and most are shaded with trees. The sites below the casting lake (beach sites) are not shaded and very sandy, but very close to the beach, and look a little easier to back/pull into. I think if we come back, we will choose one of the further back beach sites to get best of both "parks". The staff seemed very polite and attentive to needs. They were very present and always riding thru on their golf carts, so if you needed help, it would only be a matter of minutes before someone was riding by. The bath houses are nice, consisting individual rooms with shower, toilet, sink, bench, and hooks to hang clothes, towel, etc. One of the only gripes I have about Camp Gulf, which is minor, is the lack of water pressure. It wasn't great at the campsite, and you had to flush the toilet in the bathhouses 2 or 3 times for all the toilet paper, and other residue to flush completely. I am undecided on the cost of our trip. On the surface, over $100 per night for a campsite seems insane, but on the flip-side if you were to rent a house or condo in the same area, you'd easily pay 3-4 times the amount. I do feel that you get a lot for what you pay for, but the value would be better if at a slightly lower price. Overall, my family loved our trip to Camp Gulf and we will likely return. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

If you will use the pools more, stay in the upper park area. If you are there for the beach only, the beach sites are worth the extra expense to not have to lug your beach gear so far.

This park is perfect. Literally right on the beach if you want. The shower rooms are wonderful. The whole facility is just a good experience. I have seen pictures and have heard that they have added water slide now also. We will be returning in September for another stay. The only downside is it is a little expensive for a campground even being a destination campground. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Travel Trailer.

PROS-It's rare to be so close to the white sand and beautiful emerald waters of the gulf. Our site was about 150 yards from the beach. You just can't beat walking from your RV and strolling up and down this wide beautiful beach. The park offers a variety of sites, from right on the beach, to sites in the sand with cement pads and a palm trees, to landscaped sites and no sand, the closure you are to the beach the more expensive. They have an outside pool and a covered one with a hot tub. Others have mentioned about the friendly and helpful staff, and they are. They have a gas fire pit for guest to gather in the evening. No problems with electricity or water pressure. They offer 69 cable channels.

CONS-Our site (608) was a bit tight for our size 5th wheel and parking our long-bed truck in this site was awkward. We had a wall in front of our site that made it necessary for us to jack knife our rig in which is always fun. Spaces starting just one space north of us didn't have the wall. They had sites that would have been better for our size fiver but this is their busy season, so book early. This site would be better for a shorter rig, or a short bed truck. During rain sites 608-609-610 flood, they moved us to another site but we will need to move again before our month is up. Wi-Fi was poor, had to use our hot spot for Internet most of the time.

WOULD WE STAY HERE AGAIN? Yes, the view of the Gulf makes this a come back place, but not in site 608 -- rate is based on staying for a month.

We stayed here in a 36 foot fifth wheel. We camped at Camp Gulf in a Fifth Wheel.
