Not very many full hookup sites (12 out of 30) but nice when you can get one during a longer stay. Each site is very large, with lots of space between you and your neighbor. Being a dedicated campground, it is separate from the very busy day use area that has the kayak ramp and glass bottom boats at the headspring. Cuts down on the traffic, keeping it quiet and peaceful. Will return again, and again. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Massive (almost twice what you'd expect), level sites with privacy. Our site (48) was full hookups, but not all have sewer. Water and power both good. Hosts keep the place spotless! Pea gravel and good drainage round out great sites. Newer, very clean bath and showers with very hot water. Washer/dryer at the bath for $1 each, very convenient. Great cell and good OTA TV coverage, good for satellite folks as well. No wifi at campsites, but the nearby springs area with glass-bottom boats and snack shops has strong wifi. Plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Travel Trailer.

We loved Silver Spring State Park from the moment we arrived. Sites are spacious with pretty good privacy, the entire campground is filled with towering trees, and strangely enough, the campground had a wonderful oak/pine smell which we weren't expecting in Florida. We had no sewer at our site, but the bath house had very nice and extremely hot showers. Roads were wide and paved and we had no trouble with our 42' motorhome. There were some nice trails to walk our dog on. A mile or two away was the main park entrance where we rented a kayak and paddled the river looking at alligators, turtles, birds, and fish. Just past the main park entrance is a great 20-hole disc golf course (bring your own discs). Verizon and AT&T both worked well. We were able to receive mail and packages during our stay. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Restaurants and shopping are a short drive away, and we found a giant fenced dog park about 10-15 minutes away. We were sad to leave and wished we had booked two weeks instead of one! We're looking forward to returning in the future. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

We spent one night at this park. The signage was pretty bad and we ended up where the boat rides originate from. We called the park and were told this happens often. They are supposed to get better signs. We were directed a mile in the opposite direction. The sites, while quite nice, are NOT longer term rv friendly. The sewer is so far away from the electric that we couldn't hook up to it even though we are in a 35' rv. Most of the sites in our section are pull thru sites. All looked nice but the ones we saw all the same problem with sewer hookups. Setting this aside (which is difficult to do) the site was clean and had a nice picnic table and fire pit. The bathrooms are very clean. The laundry units are in good shape and only $1 per load to wash or dry. The park is about nine miles from I75 down busy but easily driveable roads. The interior roads are tight but not too bad. We might check elsewhere if we visited again strictly due to the inability to hook up to sewer. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Pretty park, large spaces, easy to get into, great little area next to RV to sit outside with fire. We did have to pull back at an angle to have our hose reach the sewer as it was rather far back. We did not get satellite because there is a scattering of trees around. Verizon signal was 2 bars. While camping here, our parking pass allows us free access into Silver Springs Amusement park, which has glass bottom boat rides. Not sure if they are free. We only stayed one night as we were passing through, but would love to have stayed longer. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Another wonderful Florida State Park. Spacious lots, good hook ups and beautiful setting. Walked on trail to river and got a chuckle out of the warning about the Rhesus Monkeys. I told a ranger I would not be thrilled to meet up with one and definitely wouldn't feed one! Wish we could have made it over to the glass bottom boats but maybe next time. The road through the city could be a bit tricky in a large rig but it was fine since there wasn't much traffic. Just a few turns that were tight. The roads in the park were easy to navigate. It is a bit of a drive from I75 but well worth it. As usual when in a heavily wooded area satellite reception is not available but it's nice to leave the media world behind sometimes. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was our second stay at this beautiful Florida state park and we loved it more than the last time. There are four loops with only about 12 full hookup sites. This visit we stayed in the loop the furthest in where the sites seem a bit more spacious with more room between them. Our site, 48, had a huge side yard with no visable neighbors and full hookups. Easy pull through, but with low hanging trees over the road, it makes maneuvering a big rig a bit difficult. We ended up backing out of the site instead of driving through the loop to avoid tree scrapes. The highlight of this park is the gorgeous clear springs, river, and wildlife. Just amazing. For sure rent a kayak to paddle the kayak trail. We did it once and wished we had time to do another trip. The glass bottom boat tour is well worth the money. The entire park is mostly peaceful (during the week) and beautiful. Amazing dog friendly (on leash) trails, especially the swamp trail, which we walked at least once a day to enjoy the views and monkey watch. Great area with nearby shopping and big box stores. We'll for sure stay here again. Good AT&T hotspot coverage and our site was able to receive satellite reception. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

This state park is the gold standard. Beautiful large sites, well maintained, clean bath houses. Laundry was good and inexpensive. A lot to do, bike or car ride over to the springs and see the monkeys and take a glass bottom boat ride! We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

This is an exceptional park. It's huge in size and all roads are paved. My pull thru site was on the end of the row and was at least an acre in size. Surrounding sites were also very spacious. What wasn't cleared for the campsite was all pine woods. Everything well maintained. No bugs that we noticed. The portable dish looked out between the needles. Some sites had sewer. Not far from town. Rangers take pride in the park and are always there to help. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Travel Trailer.

I have to say that for $24/night, this is the nicest CG we have stayed in. In cleanliness, it rates with $80 CGs. All roads paved, sites are packed pea gravel and well marked with new 20/30/50A power pedestals and dual spigot water, both well placed. The sites are huge with VG separation and many with partial to full shade (back-in sites are more shady). Our site had an older large picnic table, fire ring & grill on a pedestal, and still had enough room for a tent without crowding our 31" Fiver. RRs are wonderfully clean and showers had hand-held sprayers, clean wood bench and clothes pegs. A washer & dryer at the bath house with a big sink for washing clothing or dishes, plus an animal-proof garbage dumpster and co-mingled recycle bins. The Rangers were very knowledgeable & helpful. Firewood and ice for sale at the camping entrance. There are cabins available, too. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

For activities, rent a kayak at the main tourist entrance and paddle the lovely "paddle trail" which is shaded and alive with turtles, fish and birds of many descriptions. For eats, go to Mojo's Grill on SR40 a mile towards Ocala. They had nice selection of craft-brews, mouthwatering pulled pork, and I could barely finish my 1/4 serving of nachos. Yum!! You can go swimming at Juniper Springs just about 20-30 min east.

Silver Springs State Park turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. Beautifully maintained with modern facilities, the CG is nevertheless rustic with an old Florida feel. The restrooms are spotless and laundry facilities are available. The sites are large with reasonable privacy. No WiFi or cable TV, but plenty of TV stations are available using your antenna. Verizon cell was very strong. Only a few sites have sewers, but a free dump station is available as you leave. There is a museum on site which is open Sat and Sun. Walking trails are plentiful. The nearby water park unfortunately is closed, but the glass bottom boats are still operating. We would definitely return. Excellent park. Friendly and helpful staff (rangers, hosts, volunteers). Well laid out, paved loops, newish very clean bathhouse, plenty of shade and side privacy. Of the 59 sites, all have 50 amp, 13 have sewer, about half are pull-through. Didn't have bug issues, but a good possibility on the trails. The trails are good. Swamp, field and hammock environment. Ocala about 3 miles away. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit the cracker village and museum. The Swamp and River Trails are the most interesting of the 7 trails, although all provide good, interesting hiking. Drive 2.8 miles up Hwy 35 to the spring head for an interesting day in this beautiful park now managed by the state park system. Glass bottom boat rides, kayak/canoe rentals, hiking, picnicking, and just relaxing enjoyment. They have concessions there.

Stayed in site #31. Large site, gravel surface and more than enough room to be comfortable. Partial shade, and limited foliage to separate the site from other sites, but the nearest neighboring site had to have been at least 100 feet away. Back-in site with full service, and had enough driveway room to park our tow vehicle in front of the camper. Also had room for two more vehicles along side our tow vehicle. Had an active gopher tortoise about 30 feet from the site. We camped at Silver Springs State Park (formerly Silver River State Park) in a Travel Trailer.

The campground entrance is off HWY 35, not Hwy 40. There is no sign indicating that if you are using GPS to get to the park. Main park entrance is not the same as campground entrance.

Park admission is free if you show your campground vehicle pass. The glass bottom boat tour is $10 and very enjoyable.
