The site was nice, on the water across from the golf course. Shaded but still had satellite access. Concrete pad that was sloped quite a bit, had difficult time getting level, without front wheels being off the ground. This is a very nice, family friendly campground. Good paved interior roads but a bit narrow. Site was long enough for coach and toad. Wifi extremely slow. Used my phone as a hotspot instead. Small concrete patio with picnic table. No issues with electric, water or sewer. When park is full, some rigs had problems parking with other cars parked across the road in their own lot, making maneuvering difficult. A bit on the pricey side, but expect that from KOA's. They have a small putt-putt course and pool was nice. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Motorhome.

Not a good time of year to visit. In season price of $90. a nite is Way over the top. Park was about half full and appeared to be emptying out. Weather was cool so did not use the pool-- but it looked fine. Wifi was useless. The Shanty was a reasonable oasis. Good ice cream at the general store. You share the electric box and there is only one 50 amp receptacle. Used my satellite, so don't know about the cable. W Palm Beach should be pretty easy to get on the antenna. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Stay away! And expect to pay 100% of your balance upon arrival. In our case, it was over $6,000 5 months). The location is good! In 5 months, we NEVER had wi-fi! They should not be allowed to advertise certain admintities, if they don't work or they are closed. You MUST pay 100% of your balance at check in. In our case, it was over $6,000. Beware!! We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

We have used this campground since the 1990's. It's now huge. New large site had room for our 40 ft + dolly. All paved. Access a little difficult with curves and tow car but possible. Lunch bar small in grocery store but good food. We golfed before but not this time. Pet area small but well kept. Wi-Fi would not be accepted by our Apple devices, giving hack alert. Whether it was our security or theirs, I don't know. Not a tragedy for just a few days but for long term we would have complained. I also felt it was over-priced as we didn't use any of the amenities, although there are plenty and very nice looking. For those last two reasons they didn't get a 10. Given it was Fl. season, snowbirds were there in large numbers. All were very friendly and welcoming for short-stayers. No guide to take to your spot but they are easy to find with good directions. Will continue to go again and again when we are in the area. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Okeechobee is small but has plenty of necessary stores (Walmart! and grocery) Used to have dirt track stocks on Sat. nights which were great. Don't know if they are still running. West Palm is about 1 hour with more than enough shopping to make you happy when you return to Okeechobee!

Always enjoy a stop here. In town and close to everything. But far enough out to not be congested. Easy in and out off the highway. The site had been repaved, but the power stand appeared not new. Power worked fine but only 1 50amp and 1 30 amp. Cool weather and power stable at 115volts. Large library. Wifi is useless so went across the street to Mcdonalds and got it done--very fast. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

As others have noted, this park is large and in need of renovation. They are doing some work on it. Parking is tight, sites are close but not as bad as most KOAs. Electricity is the biggest problem. The park was close to full capacity while we were there and the power fluctuated often. Our emergency gen-start kicked on repeatedly on one hot day, and we had several "brown outs." Getting 50-amp service depends on getting to your utility post first, as there is one 50 and one 30 per post. The staff are great, they work to keep the place clean, but I think they have trouble keeping up with such a large park. My dog kept finding chicken bones everywhere. There is an unfenced grassy run for dogs at the front of the park and the usual small K-9 area with agility equipment. We were parked mid way back, so it wasn't a problem to walk there, but people further back would have a long walk to get there. Out site was great, we had two shade trees which made it very pleasant. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a huge park with many permanent residents, a golf course, rental equipment such as bikes and golf carts. It is pretty old park and has not been updated or highly maintained. Our oncrete pad was broken up and not quite level. Ok for a 5th wheel, but tough on class A motor homes. Some coaches have to back up onto the grass to get level. Not all sites have 50 amp and it is very hot in south Florida. Electric service is low voltage and trips the pedestal circuit breaker sometimes. Be careful, if you go off and leave your pet inside the coach. Most sites point north and south so try to get one that points north so your patio will be in the shade in the afternoon. Major office remodel going on, but office staff is handling it very well. Check in was pleasant. It wasn't really "Season" yet but there were a lot of sites filled. The roads are a little narrow in places, but it wasn't a problem. Too cool for the pool but it looked clean. Traded a few books at the large library. Handy to be right in town and close to restaurants/shopping. The flea markets are fun on the weekend. Inflation has found Okeechobee, although the Shanty was still reasonable . Great park to stay, staff is super friendly, lots of activities. Pools are very clean, food is good and inexpensive, animal friendly. Spent most of the summer weekends at the park, enjoyed it! Only down side is the maintenance of the park, needs lots of upgrades, and floods easily. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We really love this park except for a few things that could be improved upon. This is our second stay here and we have already booked for next winter. This park has very friendly staff and every amenity you can think of. The convention center is very large and holds bingo twice a week. The 9-hole golf course could use a sprinkler system and some additional tlc but it's a great little course and perfect for beginners like me. We love the separate pools; one for adults and one for families. They have shuffleboard, bocce, ping pong, pool, darts, tennis, pickle ball, pétanque and our favorite, water volleyball. There are card clubs, craft clubs, mah-Jong, exercise classes, dancing, RC sailing, you name it. You cannot get bored here. And fishing is only minutes away. Half an hour to the casino and an hour to the outlet mall. There are restaurants close by and the onsite lunch box has great food at a reasonable price. There's a nice dog park and run area with cleanup bags throughout the park. Golf is very reasonable and they have carts available to rent. We only have a few comments on improvements. The roads in the RV section really, need attention. They are crumbling in places. The entire area floods with any real rain and the low numbered sites back up to an RV repair shop that is a bit unsightly and often noisy. And lastly the sites in this area are very tight; difficult to even get into with no broad apron on the street so you're turning in the mud and not deep or wide enough. Our truck stuck out into the road a bit, like many others and our awning practically touched our neighbor's slide, while our rear window had a closeup view of the repair shop's fence. You'd think they'd do a section at a time addressing all these issues; planting trees along the fence, raising the grade, paving the roads and widening the apron, during the quiet season. Otherwise we love it here and already booked next year in a more spacious site overlooking the brook and the golf course. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

PROS-This is a good size campground, 750 sites. They have lots of activities for all ages. They have two swimming pools, sundeck, hot tub and bar. One pool is for families the other for adults. If you're into golf they have a 9 hole golf course, driving range, putting green and mini golf, plus lot's of other things to keep you active and busy. Inexpensive food and drinks available in the park, great staff, friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. You're about a mile from Lake Okeechobee with some great fishing. They guided us to our site, and with lots of help from the staff we were able to get our 5th wheel into the site. They pick up the garbage at your site daily.

CONS- For an older park it is well taken care of, but not the sites themselves, they need some work, as does the campground roads and are a bit confusing until you get use to them. Because it's older it's a bit tight to back into with a large 5th wheel, narrow roads truck and cars lining the streets. Water pressure was 42psi and the electric post had one 50 amp and one 30 amp located at the back of the site rusted and in need of some work, we could only get the 30 amp, the 50 amp was already taken by a permanent resident. We needed to get out extra cable, sewer and water hose to reach it. Wi-Fi is limited and you can pay extra for additional service, and the service was slow and sometimes not available. The cement patio was in need of repair; it's getting old. Like many KOA's we've stayed at we find them to be overpriced, older and in need of updating, especially at the campsites.

WOULD WE STAY HERE AGAIN? No Our rate was based on staying for a month.

We stayed here in a 36 foot fifth wheel. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a huge park, largest KOA in the States. We were in a spot that was adjacent to the 9 hole golf course. They had a Mardi Gras parade while we were there. Lot of facilities and programs were available if desired. Amenities were good. Our grass site had some shade with very close spacing. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Great park, it is much more expensive than the other parks in the area but worth it. Tons of activities and things to do, great for pets and families. The staff is very nice. This park is huge and has around 700 sites so if you don't like people....maybe not the place for you. Have had no problems with electricity or water. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We got there late about 10 P.M. They checked us in and we had to find our site by ourselves. The campground is very big and the roads are confusing at night especially with a 45' RV. Only one person appeared to be working, and he was checking in multiple people at that time due to an accident which closed the road en route to the campground.

During the daytime they had plenty of people. they should have had more people checking in the campers.

The pool area was nice and the entertainment was enjoyable. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Motorhome.

65.00 reflects a discount for staying 9 nights...7 and get two free! 8 rated because of the very narrow roadways. The park is very well maintained and beautiful. If you like to bike ride or walk this is the place to stay...excellent bike path one mile away on the Okeechobee Lake Rim. We would stay here again. We camped at Okeechobee KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
