This is an ownership type resort, but with rental sites available. Mostly fifth wheels and class A motorhomes. Some sites are fully improved by their owners, others just a small paved patio area and otherwise unimproved ... our rental was fully paved and faced the shuffleboard area. Has to be one of the cleanest/well maintained park we have visited. Lots of dog waste receptacles around the grounds and everyone uses them. Outside the park there is not a lot to do and dining options are pretty limited, but we used Okeechobee as a home base to explore both west and east coasts with our towed vehicle. Port Saint Lucie, and even WPB, are only about an hour drive away ... we even ventured there for foodie dinners a few times. We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a great owner's resort but they let people come in for a preview stay. They have every amenity you could think of plus dinner dances every Saturday night and live bands by the saltwater pool twice a week. Five days a week they have a bar and grill at the pool with great and reasonably-priced food. They have pickle ball champions that live here and give lessons. They have a library, a gym, a card/activity/craft room, a billiards room, an activities director, petanque, volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, horse shoes, a hot tub, fire pits, beautiful landscaping, and a great community! We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Resort is beautiful but management leaves much to be desired. When you leave the resort it's still Okeechobee. A long drive to anywhere decent for shopping or restaurants etc. $1200 per month is a bit pricey and not worth the money. No patio or table. If you are looking to buy in this resort buyer BEWARE! We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is a park that is looking to sell you a site for between $60 and $150k + monthly fees. It has lots of owners and lots of still unsold sites and a 3rd section that has yet to be developed. Sites are immaculate and the facilities are first rate in all aspects. Only missing amenity is cableTV but that is available from Comcast for 1mo+ stays. Internet is free but can often be slow.

Big attraction is an exceptionally active pickleball community and 10 courts which are full every morning in the winter. I went there for this and was most disappointed in the autocratic way the courts were run. You can't get better if you are only allowed to play people at your level and below. If you're going for pickle ball primarily: check this out before you reserve. There were MANY great owners and other activities here like swimming, cards, shuffleboard, dinner/dances, live entertainment, bingo. So you can have a good time in a nice park.

They are telling some people that you can only rent one winter than you get put on a waiting list for the next one since they are selling sites...not running a park so much.

Not our cup of tea, but most owners seem happy. We will not be returning. We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Publix, Winn Dixie and Walmart for food. Publix just outside park gates. Harbor Freight and Home Depot within 1/2 mile. Lots of restaurants around (excellent Mexican and Chinese right next to Public).

Cowboys Ribs all you can eat for $10 on Mondays was a great value with excellent ribs. Local Public libraary a few blocks away is an excellent resource and has reliable internet connections.

Overall Rating:

This resort is an ownership resort with everything you could want if you wanted a permanent lot in mid-southern Florida. Huge club room, pickleball courts, lots of activities, and stringent rules on motor homes and clutter make this a great resort to own in. All facilities were immaculately clean. Lots were beautifully landscaped and owners can have tiki huts. Additionally, owners can have a small "casita" which is basically a vinyl clad small building for storage, kitchen, etc. based on the owner's needs. There are pull through and grass lots with patios for non owners. Roads are easy to navigate, and many big rigs are in this resort. We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town is small with little to do, but this location is central to the state so major attractions and beaches would be two to three hours away.

This is an owned lot park, meaning people purchase a lot for their vehicle. The owned lots are tricked out with tiki huts, decorative lighting and small buildings, some of which are storage huts and some of which have been made into TV rooms and more. The properties available for rental are not so nice. Grass and dirt pad with a brick patio. Not even a picnic table and no temporary fire pits allowed. Compared to the owned lots, the rental lots are a slum. The park is located in Okeechobee near the lake of the same name. If you are coming to be a tourist, might not be the place for you. There is not much here except the lake, which is beautiful. Can't even rent bicycles. Some OK restaurants and boat rental on the lake. Also charter airboat rides. The RV park has 10 pickleball courts and a very active player community. Restrooms and laundry room are first class as are the roads in the community. Enjoyed our visit here (I am a big pickleball player) but won't be back. Nothing much to do in the area. Can't imagine owning a lot and being here even part time. We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground with long, wide, mostly-level pads. Limited landscaping, but beautiful clubhouse and great number of activities available on site, e.g., pickleball, volleyball, basketball, billiards, large pool. Also, had poolside bar that served food in the afternoon. However, not much to do in the surrounding area unless you have a boat. And the staff reneged on a promotion that had attracted us here. If you need to stay near Okeechobee SKIP THIS PARK!

In over 20 parks, I've yet to find one at this price point that was this unaccommodating. And frankly 'our' host was downright rude. Several opportunities were missed to provide us with an easy, overnight stay.

We ventured over to the dog park but didn't notice the pesticide application flag (because it wasn't posted near the entrance).

You can tell this a nice facility with a lot of amenities for long term guests, but if you are passing through, I'd do it elsewhere. You will be camping way outside of the regular guests. The laundry is not convenient at all! No cable, no wifi, less than 5 channels (3 of which are Hispanic)! And the mosquitos here are the size of small birds. Fire ants were abundant!

At this price, you can find a place that is a real 'treasure' as close as Ft Pierce. We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Silver Palms RV Resort is located approximately ¼-mile north of Lake Okeechobee. If you are looking for a resort to buy into, where you are away from the hustle and bustle of life, then I would highly recommend this resort. Lots can also be rented, but call the office as rates depend on dates of stay, length of stay, and location. The lots are good sized, approximately 40' x 70', and includes 30/50 AMP, sewer, water, and free Wi-Fi. The resort offers a lot of activities, such as crafts, dancing, various exercise programs, billiards, bingo, bunco, various card games, as well as pickle ball, volleyball, golf, and biking. So much to do!! And the pool is absolutely beautiful and offers a full-service snack bar with beer and wine, DJ's and live music. We stayed here in a 40' motor coach and, when the time comes, would definitely consider this resort as one that we would settle down in. Great getaway from everything! We had a very nice stay at Silver Palms We had an improved site with lots of pavers and a Tiki covered patio. The roads are all well built and wide. The pool is huge and has a patio that is covered and uncovered - take your pick. Right in town so all the restaurants are close. Very nice library and was able to swap some books. The only downside was no cable tv. But I got the satellite with no trouble. We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Our site was adjacent to the preserve which was very enjoyable to watch the birds, Sandhill cranes, egrets, osprey, etc. Sites are grass with pavers. However, the facilities were lacking. For a park with almost 500 sites they only had 5 washer/dryers and they were located at the farthest end of the park from our site. The same problem for the bathroom/showers, too far from our site. This resort is very nice, but the surrounding area of Okeechobee is not what we are looking for in terms of a place to return to year after year. We liked the clubhouse, pool, and spa. We found the residents to be active and very friendly. The activities director does a good job of keeping a full plate of activities available to enjoy. We stayed in a newly opened section of the resort, so the grass-covered sites were open to the sun, basic, and adequate. Lots of potential here for the right site owners. If you are a walker, there is plenty of roadway to be walked in this resort. We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice well kept park. My only negative comments are about the ants (but it is Florida, and they did come and spray twice) and the lack of cable TV, which you had to sign up for though the cable provider and pay a monthly fee, not worth it when staying only a few days. A few broadcast stations but mostly not worth watching. No picnic tables at campsite.

Short term stays park on level grass while owners park on pavers. Power was good as was water and very nice pool and club house. Lots of golf carts and a older population. Would stay there again. We camped at Silver Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed the month of November 2015 in our motorhome. The facilities are beautiful and the people very friendly. The lots are huge with a brick patio. The Wifi was consistently good. The laundry is small with five washers and dryers, but clean and comfortable. It was not to be found in the written instructions, but we were advised to set out our trash between 8 - 10 in the morning for curb side pickup, which was nice. I chose this park for the pickleball courts and especially the use of the ball machine and advanced skill lessons offered each week on the activity calendar. Unfortunately just because it's on the calendar doesn't mean it will be happening. I never got to see the ball machine in use, nobody ever seemed to know where it was. There were enough people to play with, but it wasn't the boost I thought I'd be giving to my game by staying here. I was wishing for a nice hot soak in the spa, but that is out of order. There is a WalMart nearby, as well as Publix and Winn Dixie. There is a little movie theater (3 movies) in town. If you want more shopping opportunities you'll need to drive about an hour to Port St Lucie.

The Lake Side Grill had probably the best Reuben we've ever had.

This could be a great RV resort. Terrible WiFi and no cable. We could get better WiFi in Walmart parking lot or about anyplace other than park. Who has heard of good RV place that doesn't have cable? The local TV stations bounced in and out and this was during NCAA basketball finals. Couldn't watch almost any morning Network news programs. Good tennis, pool, and other activities. Many special interest groups (French Canadians) that couldn't speak English that were hard to meet or socialize with. Administration needs to work on this aspect. Really liked people we did meet. One has to travel 40 plus miles to find interesting towns or shopping. The campsites were lovely and no feeling of crowding. Lots of great landscaping. First class looks and feel. Clean and a feeling that these people care a lot. Country club atmosphere except for communications and technical aspect. I'd not return unless these items are attended to. Tips for other Campers:

Not much in way of local history, culture or shopping, restaurants or specialty stores except for Walmart type stores. If you leave the park, there is almost nothing. Have to drive 40-60 miles to either coast. That's not really that bad, but the local (25 miles) is mainly farming, not that that's bad. No history or cultural things to do.
