Overall Rating:

A nice inexpensive place to stay in Orlando. This is a large city park that also has a campground. There are 36 sites, all back-in. 14 have full hook-up, the others just water and electric. Dump station on the way out. If you want a full hook-up site make reservations early. Pretty nice bathrooms, seem to be cleaned every day. Most pads are cement and some are very sloped front to back. Our 5th wheel front jacks were out as far as they would go, plus I had about 6" of wood under them. Turns are tight but there were a couple long class As in here. Nice disc golf course, 2 1/2 mile long blacktop bike path, very large swimming pool, picnic pavilions, fishing, and even a drone zone. All these are open to the public. Some minor highway noise from the nearby Florida Turnpike. Verizon and AT&T signal 1 to 2 bars in campground. Nice laundry with 4 washers and dryers. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Not bad for the price. Not big rig friendly, but I managed. The city park is well maintained but the RV section is in considerable disrepair. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Motorhome.

Bring an extra step. The site was very uneven. Even after emptying the air bags, my step was way too far off the ground after leveling.

Nice find in theme park central. Quiet park less than 3 miles to Universal Studios, the reason for our visit. RV park is well separated from activities providing privacy and quiet. Roughly 1/2 the sites are fhu, rest are electric and water. Dump station at end of rv loop. Sites can be challenging to enter, roads are narrow with many trees. Sites are concrete pads, flat but not level, many rigs parked with wheels off the ground. Many big rigs in park prove that it can be done. No wifi but most sites were satellite friendly. Clean bathrooms with showers and good laundry room, washers $1.25, dryers $1. Sadly, an abundance of cigarette butt litter. Given the price and the solitude, we will definitely stay again when in the area. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is such a great park at a great price in a great location. It is within a mile of the city limits but feels like you're in a rural area. The campground sits back 3/4 mile off Hiawaaaee Road. The utilities are well placed. Most sites have concrete. There is space between sites and most are shaded. The laundry has four washers and dryers and are only $1.25. You hear a bit of noise from the turnpike but it's minimal. You will likely notice the sound of the fireworks from Universal more. It's close to I4 although we avoided it with the construction. Taking Turkey Lake Rd when you head south is a nice way to avoid traffic. My only complaint is that this park is called by rivers "the Bill Frederick shuffle". We had to move 4 times in 17 days and we reserved our site fivw months before arrival. Some sites (7) is very unlevel from front to back. I saw several small travel trailers on level sites while 35-45' RVs and 5th wheels were on unlevel sites. It's much easier for a small unit to level up on an unlevel spot. Parks should consider this when planning reservations. I consider myself lucky to even have a spot here. I would definitely stay again. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Motorhome.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. Park is very quiet, has lots of places to hike and explore. Sites are relatively level with cement pads. Campground is big rig friendly. Very close to the parks and Orange County Convention Center. This is a gated park in a very nice area of Orland with lots of shopping and restaurants close by. Registered campers are provided a gate code to enter and exit after hours since the gate is not manned off hours. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

This is a gated park where after hours you have to use a code to enter & exit. The gate is manned during the daytime hours. If arriving after 4 PM make sure you contact the park office to receive the clad to enter the park since the gate will be closed when you arrive.

We arrived after 5 pm; the gate was closed and no instructions as to how to enter. Another camper came up behind us and punched in the code. Seems to me the park should have suggested we call to get the code if we were going to be late. Also, the road in the camp ground is quite narrow and difficult for large RVs and motor homes. We saw one RV maneuver for quite awhile to get into one site. On the plus side, the entire park -- not just the camp ground -- is the best maintained of any location I've visited and has plenty of trees. The camp ground bathrooms/showers are a little step up from the usual but nothing special. The entrance and exit roads do not have stop signs, so there's nothing to bring you to a complete stop (however, speed bumps will slow you down) unless something happens in front of you. There is a camp ground fence preventing you from getting to Turkey Lake next door, but you can walk or drive to sites in the park that do have access. There is constant highway noise, but more like Traffic Muzak than blaring annoyances. And we had 2 Great-horned Owls hooting up a storm next to our site! We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Have stayed at most of the CGs in this area and like this one the best. Beautiful county park with the camping in the back of the park near the lake. Nice walking trails, very shady and quiet despite its location in a urban area. We choose this CG since it was only 10 miles from the Amway Center in Orlando. Roads are a little narrow but no problem for our 31 ft Class A MH with a toad. Over the air antenna pulled in 69 channels. To many trees for Sat. Many sites not level so used leveling blocks. Plenty of room between sites. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Motorhome.

This is a great value for the location. The campground is located in the rear of the park and the roads are a bit narrow. Many of the sites are shaded with lots of trees. Verizon cell service was very good. Facilities were decent and the staff was very friendly. We used this location for a couple nights before heading into Disney. We would return. We stayed here in a 21ft travel trailer. The site was mostly quiet and the people were very friendly. They have full hook ups available, but we didn't have sewer on our site. There is a good amount of space between sites. You can't beat the price for Orlando! We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in site 4, plenty large with close access to bath house. Lake and two docks within walking distance. Handled everything by phone (including payment), came in after the office was closed so I never talked to anyone at the office. Only negatives relate to departing. The road is not big enough to get around someone hooking up if they are sticking out. We were leaving at 11 so several others were leaving at the same time. If anyone has to stop at the dump station, the traffic behind has to wait, you cannot pass. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Loved this park! It is close to the entertainment area of Orlando and yet so peaceful and quiet. The lake is pretty - even though a little busy on weekends especially during regatta season. The disc golf courses and hiking trails were great. We were in two different sites because we couldn't book the same one for our entire stay. Both were nice. Not extremely level, but we were able to get our trailer leveled without too many problems. The roads are a little tight so drive slowly. The restrooms and laundry room were clean. Verizon and T-mobile signal were good. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed the stay. The sites were back-in and pitched (we had to lift the front in quite a bit) and just long enough for the TT. The park is small and the drive through is very narrow. Big rigs would have a harder time. The spots on the inside of the circle (full hook ups) are crowded with not much room around any side. There is a dump at the exit but you block all traffic when you stop. It was a clean park but several of the washers/dryers weren't functioning. I loved the lake and there is a lot to do but the main attraction is that this is a really nice park close to Disney. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Travel Trailer.

Clean and well maintained park and campground. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Sites were not extremely long but we were able to park a 40 foot fifth wheel and truck at the site. Some of the sites are full hook-up and some only have water and electricity. Very clean laundry facilities. The road in the campground was fairly tight but going slowly made it driveable. The one downside was driving this road in the dark as there were no other lights. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Fifth Wheel.
