Shady, quiet, remote, what a GREAT place. As with most Fla State Parks the showers and restrooms were very, very nice. We spent 4 nites while we attended the Palatka Bluegrass Festival at the Rodeheaver Boy's Ranch just 6 miles away. As Fla senior residents we only paid $11 per night. There are 2 campgrounds, phase 1 & phase 2, we stayed at site 45 in phase 2. Phase 1 has a boat ramp if you have a boat or kayak. No sewers at the sites but a great dump station on the way out. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Pleasant staff at check-in. Site was gravel and not level. Clean bathhouse but very poor water pressure in shower. Nice convenience that they sell both firewood and ice. Sad that the camphost doesn't keep his dog on a leash. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days in our new 5th wheel camper. It was our 1st time ever camping rv style so we stayed close to home. Nice place to learn the ups and downs of our new found favorite adventure. Everything was convenient and easy for first time campers. Be prepared for no internet, tv, and/or spotty cell service. All-in-all, nice place! We camped at Rodman Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Make sure you have everything you need for supplies, unless going 10 miles back to Palatka is no big deal. Rodman needs to add a small general store to their grounds for convenience.

Very clean campground and facilities! Phase one loop is grass and gravel sites with a bath house and boat ramp for the lake. Also has pavilions for lunch or just relaxing. Tent area also in its own area......We stayed in the second phase which consists of two sides with a huge hill between. The bath house and 2 washers and dryers are on the front side, along with the handicap concrete sites. Electric 30 & 50 amp and water only sites. Dump station is onsite near the exit to campground. Lots of hiking and bike trails to check out. About 10 miles to Palatka and the St Johns river. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Motorhome.

This was our second time staying in the park. Everything was clean and the staff was friendly. They are cost cutting so no soap in the women's bathroom (men's bathroom had soap) and no fans running (unless they are cleaning). Bring your kayak, bring your fishing poles and/or boat, bring your bikes, and bring your hiking shoes. There are many places in and out of the park to enjoy outdoor recreation. The town of Palatka is about 10 miles away and has everything you forgot to bring. St. John's River is not far. No Internet or tv reception (unless you have a satellite, which we don't). Sites are roomy and shaded. They also offer tent camping, but watch out for the rattlesnake. We only saw him once and he was a beauty. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Palatka has a historic section and the oldest diner in Florida. They are redoing most of the shops downtown, but there were antique and gift shops. There are plenty of restaurants in town if you desire. Ravine Gardens is a place to walk through for a nice shaded stroll. You can even drive through it if you are unable to walk.

In Section 2, the bathroom is on the side of the campground near the Handicapped sites. The other side of the campground, near the canal has to walk around the hill in between the 2 roads. All sites in this section have curbs that you drive over to get into your site. The curbs made it hard to use my mobility scooter to visit friends - I could get over the curb into the site but had a very hard time getting back to the road. Sites on the canal side are shady. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Motorhome.

Very well maintained. Excellent staff. Stayed in Phase II on the canal. Good view and sites angled for privacy. Phase I under trees, also good. Lot of hiking available and excellent asphalt roads to bike. Visit the dam area, walk along the canal to the Buckman Locks. Fishing, kayaking good. 50/30/20amp. Primitive camping is really nice. Park was quiet and relaxing the week we were there. Worth going back to. Firewood & ice available. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice campground out in the middle of nowhere. Some sites have no trees so we were able to get satellite TV after we moved. First Office staffer not helpful, the second one helped us move. Campground is pretty, has lots of kids on the weekends and not far from the dam with fishing. Showers and laundry were good. Verizon phones barely worked. Internet worked a couple days then did not over the weekend. Don't personally like to be so isolated. Probably would not camp here again. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Motorhome.

Don't miss the murals in Palatka on sides of building depicting historical events of the city. Good St. Augustine flea market 1 hour away. Ocala RV show an hour away in the other direction.

Very nice. Very similar to a COE park in its layout. We stayed in the canal section and near the bath house. Fishing at the dam or down by the boat launch. Also in the canal just down the road. Got lots of tv on wingman antenna using 340 deg. magnetic, at my site. Palatka a 22 mile round trip to the Walmart. Better bring it with you if you need it. ATT phone only worked near the boat launch area [1 bar]. Paved roads, dump station and good water pressure. The ranger was very helpful with local info. We enjoyed it. Biggest issue was that they have the dumpster right at the end of this site, why I don't know! I did mention that they should have it on the other side of area away from campers. It stunk badly and it was packed full. Also the next site was close and I couldn't pull up as far as I wanted to because of campers there. Volunteer wanted me to move up after they left so they could empty dumpster, not going to happen, I leave tomorrow. Caught a big bass right near the boat ramp though! Bath house very clean, camp area #1 was immaculate, only two of us in whole section besides the volunteer. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Motorhome.

We had a great site near restrooms which were clean. Water and electric only with a dump station. We rode our bikes to the dam(Marjorie Cross) up the road where everyone fishes. It's a beautiful area. Next time we plan to bring the kayak. Great area for ATV riders with many paths. We found a foot trail and enjoyed the shaded walk. Stores are not close so bring food. Bugs were out at dusk. There is a ramp for small boats. Bring bait. We saw no wildlife. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a nice campground. The only reason it gets a 7 is that the sites are too close. You and your neighbor can almost share a fire ring on some sites. You have to be picky if you want a site to get satellite TV. All in all we would stay here again. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

A true gem of a park. Very quiet, no wifi or solid cell phone service but that was the entire point of the trip. Very well kept, clean and very helpful staff. We will certainly stay there again. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Motorhome.

I have stayed at this park twice now for 3 days each time and have enjoyed it both times. It is clean and the facilities are well kept, though the men's showers in the Phase I campground could use some bleach for the mildew (typical Florida). I have stayed in the Phase I area both times but will likely go to the Phase II area if I stay again due to the amount of traffic in Phase I using the boat ramp. Phase II appears to be very quiet. We camped at Rodman Campground in a Travel Trailer.
