We camp here every spring and fall. Last year we gave the park a very good rating but not so this time. The site we received was dirty with paper and cigarette butts down in the grass which means the site had not been cleaned for some time. The ground crew come regularly to pick up the dumpsters to empty them but do not pick up trash and cans nearby on the grass. The park just has a very unkempt look about it. Also the laundry area is dirty with plenty of cobwebs. On the positive side, the office staff is very professional and helpful. I hope that the park does improve for it is still the best there is in the area. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

Been here many times and have seen a different in the past years. Water is low pressure and the power and get low also. It need upgrading. Power boxes are getting old. The trees need trimming so you do not scrape your rig. Pretty level spots. Nice area and just about the only place around to camp. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Paid $40/night plus 6% tax $42.40/night all-in. Online reservation system is quirky but it works. Required to pay 100% at time of reservation. Check in was fast and friendly. Upon entering the park, the office is the first thing you see. It has a sign clearly identifying it. There are two long parking spots on the right available for check-in but both spots curve making it tricky to get straight in order to unhook a toad (the DH managed to do it). Park staff suggested an alternate area to unhook or rehook (parking lot 22 across from entrance to camping area). If you opt for this, watch the trees. Suggest you enter/exit parking lot 22 using the second driveway which is a little bit past the campground turn. Our site was #15 which was plenty long for a 45' coach plus toad parked sideways. However this site is in the middle of the "u" of a horseshoe with the curve not particularly big rig friendly. We avoided the curve by driving to where the second horseshoe tip meets the road and backing all the way in (if that makes sense). It's not as far as it sounds and it worked perfectly. We had a lovely lake view through our big windshield. All hook-ups worked well. There was trash on our site (my pet peeve) including numerous cigarette butts (gross!). Our site had one good sized tree on each side but we were still able to obtain a DirecTV signal. Most sites seem fairly open but there are trees here and there which could obstruct a signal. We had 5 bars on Verizon. There are trash dumpsters conveniently located plus recycling bins. Showers were basically clean except for hair on walls and drain plus dead bugs and cobwebs on light fixtures. This is a slice of paradise inside a metropolitan area with trails for walking, running or biking. Neighbors were friendly. We discovered the max stay is 180 days and noticed some folks seemed settled in for the long haul. No wonder it's so hard to get a site. If in the area, we would be happy to stay here again. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

PAK Mail is 1/2 mile to the left on Flamingo and very helpful for shipping needs. Trader Joe's is at corner of Flamingo/Pines. Highly recommend mobile technician Sean with RV Master. He's not cheap but he's very good (better than our mfr helpline). He diagnosed and fixed our power issue in ten minutes flat. Traffic is awful all times of day. Allow plenty of time.

Overall Rating:

A very nice, huge park in a major metro area. We really enjoyed the park with several miles of walking/biking trails. The campground itself is laid out kind of strange though. Many of the pull throughs are in very tight loops which may make getting a big rig in and out a bit tough. Sites 23 thru 37 are decent, but overal, the back in sites are much better. We preferred the north section which looks to be newer. Sites 61-74 being our favorites. Lots to do in the park and an excellent location to stock up on supplies. The park does get pretty busy and noisy on the weekends. We won't hesitate to stay here again when in the area. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This was the Beverly Hills of public park campgrounds. Just wonderful. The sites are well laid out next to a lake; the access to water, sewer, and power hookups was good; and the staff was very nice. We were squeezed into a fully booked park in high season because a winter storm had created an unexpected opening for one night. It was like staying in Central Park: you're fully inside a large city with all the usual conveniences, but the setting is almost rural inside the park. We would very much enjoy the chance to have a longer stay here. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites were level and spacious. We had a pull-thru with just enough room to park a car behind a 40-ft motorhome. We enjoyed the extensive bike trails and lake views as you walked around the park. Convenient trash containers--which some parks put only at the exit. All-around great park. If you are into batting, golf, tennis, etc. the park has all those and more. We used it as a base to visit South Beach Art Deco district and Vizcaya. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

This campground is as good as it gets if you are thinking of camping in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area. This a BIG county park, which makes it even more pleasant as the RV campground is situated by itself along a beautiful lake, with many of the RV sites having good views of the lake.

Plenty of room between sites. If you have a big rig ask for the north campsites which offer nice wide level asphalt sites.

Book early this place fills up especially during November- March "season." We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

This is a spacious, well-designed venue that almost feels like a destination rather than a parking spot. It is located in the midst of a developed area and has a water park but you don't see or hear any of that (may be different during the November rock concert weekend, though). Facilities are all clean, include a laundry, showers, full 30- and 50-amp hookups. I stayed in a back-in slot with my Class B but pull-throughs are available. We camped at C.B. This RV park is within a very busy county recreation area. But the RV section is located in a quite area set back from the others activities and facilities. Most of the sites were shaded and mine was a pull thru, the roads were easy to maneuver and the bath house facilities were modern and clean. I did not see any laundry facilities and there was no cable TV and with the trees no satellite reception. But overall this is a very nice park. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

In our pull behind we made several trips over to A1A and drove to North Miami Beach. We also went on a very nice evening riverboat dinner cruise called " The Jungle Boat River Cruise" they take you on a narrated cruise thru a water canal lined with multi million dollar mansion's and huge private yachts.

This is a Broward County park in the midst of a busy suburban area southwest of Ft. Lauderdale. A great place to stay if you have things you want to do in the area. Surrounded by plenty of shopping and restaurants. The best sites for big rigs are the north sites 61-83. Level, reasonable spacious and many overlook a small lake. This area, however, has very little shade. Shaded sites have smaller pads and are not as level. There is more space between those sites, however. Full hook up a reasonable $30 per night. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

We used this park as a jumping off point to visit Miami, Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding area. We were in the back section, which is wide open so we had no problems with satellite connectivity. Parked across from the bathroom put us in direct Wi-fi connection, which worked just fine for us during our stay - not speedy by any means, and we had to reconnect every time with logged on, but it worked for checking emails, etc. Good Verizon service as well. Sites and interior roadways are paved and easily travelled. Site is 50 amp full hookup. The sewer hookups on the sites in this section ( sites 61-83 ) are located towards the very front of the sites which requires a very long sewer hose or sections connected together ( we saw as many as 4 connected in order to reach ). Quiet at night with every kind of service you may need located just outside the gate. We would recommend staying here and would come back again. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

When you first turn into the park you will see a building that is identified as the park office. There is a wide spot in the roadway to park your RV in - there is also one in front of the one at the office, if needed. This is where you need to check in. It is marked but not very clearly!

This is a really nice park. Though it is in a very developed suburban area in metropolitan Miami, it seems like a refuge out in the country surrounded by major streets. It is actually quiet at night. Check in was professional. The park is clean and well maintained. The access roads to the RV sites are not exactly wide, they are winding and less than perfectly marked, so have a map or satellite image available as you drive from the check in point to your site the first time. Parking at the office where you check in is not exactly spacious. This is an ideal spot to serve as a base to tour Miami. We would stay here again. We camped at C.B. Smith Park in a Fifth Wheel.
