We loved this park! Neat and clean, plus friendly neighbors. The site was large and easy to back into. The roads in the loop are paved and can get a bit tight, and a couple of branches had started to hang a little low, but we cleared them. A lot of the shaded sites, we could never have gotten into, due to low branches. We forgot to check the restrooms, and never used them. Easy drive to Fort Pickens and enjoyed a day there, a lot of history! The beaches are amazing!! The water was awesome blue! We were in loop A, which has fewer sites than the other loops. Most sights were taken throughout the week. There seemed to be more available sites in the other loops. The camp store was nearly out of ice on Monday afternoon, there were only 2-3 bags of ice left, but was restocked later in the week. Rangers were very helpful at check-in. Can't say enough nice things about this park! We can hardly wait to go back! We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Motorhome.

Staff, including Hosts, were friendly. Sites were kept clean, but the Loop C rest room/shower is old (dare I say dilapidated), but kept reasonably clean. The Loop D restroom/shower is new, but the shower was closed during our stay. Site access is good, with paving for the RVs, but no pavement for patio (the reverse of what you might expect). Shade is sparse, but typical of the barrier island location. A long, decked walkway goes from the access road through the dunes to the Gulf beach. For actually spending time on the beach, a swimming area with a pavilion having toilets & showers is located a short drive back towards the entrance gate. In summer, a lifeguard station is also there. We toured the fort, and on the mainland, the Naval Aviation Museum is not to be missed! We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Reserved five nights at Ft Pickens after going online and seeing the picture of the site and, trust me, the picture online is nothing like what we had. There showed shade trees in the picture, and we were sitting in the blazing sun. The pads to park on were so short we had to detach our camper and turn it sideways and then park next to it sideways, as they give you an information sheet to make sure you park on the pavement. When I registered online, I told them the length of our camper and considering you have to pull it with your vehicle, the website should have come back and said the site was not suitable for what I had, but this did not happen. The park has a general store with a small laundromat attached, and when we tried to get quarters at the store to do laundry, they had none! Looks like if you ran a park with this many campers and you had a laundromat that only takes quarters, then you might want to stockpile a few rolls of quarters. We wound up driving ten minutes to a store outside the park just for quarters to do a load of laundry. Then there are the bathrooms and showers. They were in poor shape, needing paint and general updating. There was an exhaust fan in the one we primarily used but it was covered with what appeared several inches of dust and debris. They were so steamed up that using them was miserable. One set of the bathrooms there had been remodeled but was not near us and I was told by another camper, they failed to install vents in the showers and had to rework them. I stayed there, as my daughter is in the Navy at Pensacola but will have to be desperate to stay there again. Will look for another park. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Cost based on Disabled rate. Roads into the campground are paved. Campsite paved, but not very long and about 2 inches above ground level (C38). There is not much shade in Loop C. If we return, we would try to get into Loop A. However, the new bath house in Loop E, is wonderful!!! If you go to shower late in the day, you would likely find the showers extremely sandy. We learned to go at noon, right after cleaning. The water pressure was good and there was hot weather. It was difficult to determine exactly when the showers would be cleaned, however. There are signs up, but that doesn't mean that the shower house would be cleaned earlier or later than listed. The campground hosts were the most unfriendly we have run across to date. When seeking their help, shoulders would be shrugged and they would go on with what they were doing prior to our questions. Although, the drive into the campground from the front gate is about 6 miles, be prepared to drive 20 miles per hour back to the campground. This is due to the nesting birds in the area. There is a nice camp store and a laundry with two washers and two dryers that cost $2.00 each to use. The Fort is a great place to visit and learn more about Geronimo's capture and escapee. If in this area, we would stay here again. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Motorhome.

The location is great. Beaches were very nice and peaceful. The campsites had plenty of room but was really just an open field with paved campsites. Roads were narrow and many vehicles were parked partially in the road including at the first turn into our loop which prevented the 5th wheel ahead of me from making the turn until one of the two vehicles could be moved. Took about 15 minutes. Restrooms were clean. Didn't ever use the showers. There were 4 individual unisex shower rooms. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Pickens is just beautiful. The campgrounds are well laid out, and the individual sites far enough away from each other that you don't feel like you are in your neighbors business. Our arrival was delayed by a day because the road was flooded after a big storm. We got a call from the park service that morning telling us to plan to arrive the next day. The beach is a short walk from the campground and one of the most beautiful we've seen, with sugar white sand and bright emerald green waters. The Fort is old and enormous. We sat on it's ramparts and watched the Blue Angels practice overhead. We will definitely return here. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Motorhome.

This park was highly recommended to us and on the drive in, we thought we were in heaven, beautiful beaches just lovely. The staff member was not very friendly and scoffed when I asked if they might have had any cancellations in Loop A (we've been quite lucky in scoring great spots because someone else canceled). We were in Loop E. We have traveled from California and love all the state parks but this was sorely disappointing. The campsites are just back-ins on the lawn, all on top of one another and really nothing special. The showers were a flooded mess, probably because the shower head (not adjustable) shoots beyond the shower pan. We really wanted to like this, but didn't. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Motorhome.

Loop A provided amazing beach access. I checked the restrooms and showers as clean as I say the crew making the rounds but the bath houses are very outdated (were supposed to be under a remodel while I was there) and the cleanliness deteriorates throughout the day. My spot (37) had no shade but others did. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Power and water worked fine and the dump station was convenient. One of the best beaches we have ever visited. We will definitely be back and are looking forward to the revamped bath houses for loop A. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We were so excited about coming here until we went to check in. The park employee assisting us acted like we were bothering her, told us all the things we couldn't do, and was unfazed when we discovered that the site assigned to us was too small to hold our 17 foot Casita and our car. She suggested we park our car nearby, even after we told her that many of our supplies are kept in our car. With that said, the Fort and museum were astounding, the beach was to die for, and the birds and wildlife were amazing. Loop A is the recommended area. We will return and stay there. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I love this campground. Once you enter the park you are in a different world. the campground is nice with big sites but small and tight pads. Once you are in your site it is great but the roads are narrow and it makes backing in very difficult without going off on the grass and that might be OK but it had rained and we made very big ruts. We have a 33 ft fifth wheel and got a site that was for 40 feet . But the way the trees and the road was set up it took my husband about 20 minutes to finally get the camper in the way we wanted it to. We barely were able to fit our truck in without it being on grass which is not allowed. There are sites where this would not be as much of a problem but it is hard to see which ones are OK and which ones would be an issue. In general if there are trees around your site, it will be difficult with anything over 30 feet. The bathrooms were great except on Saturday when there were many kids at the camp. The reason I rate this camp so high is that it has a vast area to walk and ride a bike that is flat and beautiful. It is very easy to drive to the beach and set up for the day. They do not allow pets on the beach but they do on the nature trails. The sunsets were beautiful. Lots of birds and armadillos. We were out in nature and quiet, but only 10-15 minutes away from a number of restaurants and shopping areas. It was great. We will be back again for even longer. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice campground, and we have stayed here before. Price reflects Golden Age Pass. Walk to beach. Close to Fort Pickens and Pensacola Beach. Very clean, new bathhouses were being built (almost done, older ones needed updating). Only a few miles from town, shopping, restaurants, and activities. We would stay here again! We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a great campground if you like a remote location. Loop A is the best for us. Its smaller and quieter. There are sites for big rigs but not all of them. Some sites have tree limbs which are a little low so care must be taken. There are good biking and walking trails. Beach is a short walk. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp here at least once each year. Other reviews are accurate in terms of amenities and beauty of the Gulf and the sugar white beaches. Bird migration was underway during my stay, and the songbird numbers were astonishing. Of note was significant flooding of sites on Loop C, east end. Many of those sites had only the asphalt showing surrounded by water. Very quiet at night. Bath house in the A Loop is going to be remodeled beginning in May 2014, so anyone camping there will need to be self contained or use bath houses in the other distant loops. I will camp here again. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice park. Staff is friendly and helpful, and proximity to the beaches and sleeping to the sound of the ocean surf at night is great! The only reasons I gave it an 8 is because of the flooding when it rains, the whole interior of loop E becomes a "lake". Also, the shower/restrooms at loop E are new and clean, but there is sand all around the shower facility and it tracks all over the inside of the shower rooms. Even though the staff does a great job trying to keep it clean, there is a design problem with sand tracking in all over the inside. I would stay here again. We enjoyed our stay. Note: rate reflects Senior Golden National Park Pass rates. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall a good campground; some of the sites are not very long so when you book a site pick a site that is long enough. Access roads are narrow. Sites can be hard to get into and some sites the tow vehicle or auto barely fit. They do have several areas for overflow parking. Nice beaches and interesting historic forts and gun batteries. It was very wet when we were there; some sites were poorly drained. We were not sorry we went, but probably will not return. It would be a great place to camp in the summer to access the beach. We camped at Fort Pickens Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
