Overall Rating:

First night was in the back section (28). Very small, could not extend awning. Very dusty. No sewer. Did not like at all. Next two nights we moved to spot (54). Better but not a fan of blue rocks. Rat came into site while we were eating supper outside. Sewer hookup was a plus.

Short drive to a nice beach. Nice nature trail. Bathhouses were clean and nice. Camp sites need renovation. Noticed sites 45 and 55 were concrete and next to bathhouse. Good sites. Don't think we will stay here again until upgrade takes place. We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Motorhome.

Red Bar too loud and crowded. Elmo's too expensive.

Overall Rating:

Campsite was a little small, but private with fairly thick vegetation between sites. Roads within campground were "gravel-like" and were very tight allowing for little room to back into site. Lots of overhead branches to avoid, but overall a nice park with a very pretty, private beach with white sand dunes. We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Spent one day driving along the "Emerald Coast" stopping to see Navarre Beach, Fort Walton, and Destin.

We rode bikes along Santa Rosa beach and also within town of Seaside, which is a nice quaint village located close to the park.

Overall Rating:

Campground is OK, some sites are big & paved but very open, the back loop has some nice woodsy sites but be careful as some are smaller and especially narrower than they seem on line. Everything is sand so of course it's a bit messy but that's common at state parks near the beach. Beach is fantastic, beautiful CLEAN white "sugar sand" goes for miles and miles. Nice hiking trail (1.5 miles), access to miles of biking trails across the street from the campground. It's about 1.5 mile walk from campground to beach (you can drive over if you want). We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Staff extremely friendly and very accommodating. Unfortunately for me, It rained every day really hard and made the loop we were on a mud drive. Men's restroom was closed for remodeling which is fine by me because a new, clean, air conditioned restroom makes up for many shortcomings. Beach access is great. Of course, the beach is spectacular. The park has two loops one is paved one is dirt or crushed shell. The paved loop also has paved campsites or crushed gravel very nice. The dirt loop has primitive camping mostly. I will go back and stay on the paved loop. We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Very nice park close to The Gulf of Mexico. The sites have either a dirt base or a pea gravel base depending on which side of the park you are in. The walk down to the gulf from the parking area is very short. We enjoyed our stay here and the staff was very friendly. We will stay here if in the area. Make reservations well in advance. We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a good campground. The staff is very nice and accommodating. We stayed in the new section with full hookups. The bathhouse was extremely clean. The park is beautiful and a nature lover's paradise. The negatives are the sites do not have many trees, not very private and the sand spurs are not pleasant for the dogs. We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The camp host was terrific and even though pets are allowed, we found most areas pets could use were covered with sand spurs. We were on a completely concrete location directly in front of the comfort station. I was less than happy with this campground. We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 4 nights in the newer section of the park which offers 50 amp service and sewer hookups. The older loop has only 30 amp service and no sewer hookups. Our site was concrete, very spacious, but with no grass and no shade. Immediately off of the concrete, the lots were covered in sand spurs, which made walking a dog very difficult. We asked to move to another site which offered more shade (the temps were 90 degree plus), but the park rangers said the site we wanted to move to would not be available for the entire period of our stay so we stayed put. As it turned out, that site remained empty throughout our stay. The beach area was beautiful and was a good hike (or bike ride) from our site. When walking our dog one night, we encountered a huge snake; however, we didn't hang around long enough to determine if it was venomous. The park is very near the tourist areas of Hwy 30A (i.e., Seaside, Watercolor, Grayton Beach, Blue Mountain, etc.) which offers shopping and restaurants, but are a bit pricey. There are two Publix supermarkets close by (one within 2 miles and another about 4 miles). Destin is within 20 miles and Panama City Beach approx. 30 miles from the park. We probably will not return to this park during this time of year due to the lack of shade and grass, and because of the presence of black and yellow flies. We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice beach but a small park. Site for my MH was tight. Not a bad place to stay. We camped at Grayton Beach State Park in a Motorhome.
