This is a Florida State Park, but you could easily mistake it for a RV Resort. Beautifully manicure landscapes, park lighting and site lighting, full 50 amp hookups, easy to manever interior roads and easy to back into spaces. Nice small pool, shuffle board, bike rental, kayak rental. Clean restrooms with clean showers. Nice laundry room. Plenty of bike friendly paths, and trails for hiking. The only real drawback that I found with the park is the 1/2 mile distance to the beach. They provide a tram, but you can walk or ride a bike as well. We were lucky enough to have a beach cart that I pulled behind the bike to carry our "stuff" to the beach and back. First visit and we have already made reservations to return. We camped in a 40 f00t motorhome with full sized pickup toad, with room to spare in our spot. Nice vegetation between most of the sites offer some privacy. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

For larger RV's, be selective about the site. Some are shorter than others, and not as wide. There are also some that are concrete and some that are gravel. A few do have low hanging branches, so you may want to call and verify the site before booking.

What an awesome Florida State Park! Rate is Florida Senior without the Reserve America Fee. The interior roads are paved, which keeps dirt in check. Sites are ample with full hookup (including cable) and either concrete or thick crushed stone, which is very nice. Most sites have plenty of shade. Restrooms were pretty clean. A tram runs back & forth to the beautiful beach, which is good because it is .7 miles from the campground. Tram schedule may vary. There is a lot to do nearby. We loved it here and will return. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the best RV parks we have ever stayed at, rivaled only by Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores. The sites here are massive, most of them well-shaded by large trees. There are a limited number of pull-through slots, but the back-in ones are just as nice. Some of the spots are gravel, rather than concrete. Ours was a very shaded, pull-through on a concrete pad. There is a large tram provided to ferry people to a large section of beach on the south side of the park. There are plenty of biking and hiking trails. There is a store on-site, as well as a pool, horseshoes, shuffleboard, fishing ponds, and kayak rentals. The staff was friendly and the property is gated at night, with after hours access using a code provided at check in. At a cost of $42/night, plus some fees, this place is one of the best values anywhere, but it is especially nice considering it is on the Florida Coast. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is an almost overwhelming amount of things to do and places to visit nearby. There is a Wal-Mart about a mile away. There are also outlet stores and many restaurants. Crab Island (not really an island) is definitely worth a visit. Try to go around high-tide. The boardwalk there is great, too.

The park is very clean and well maintained. There is a trolley that runs to the beach. The campground is off by itself and only campers are allowed in there. Very nice park. Would definitely stay again. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Motorhome.

This was our second visit over several years to Topsail. It is a large park with a many amenities and as a result is a little more expensive than the usual state parks. Our main reason for staying at Topsail is the proximity to the beach, which is about 1/2 - 3/4 mile from the campsites. We are fulltime RVer's so utilized the laundry, which was equipped with ample washers and dryers at $1.50 each. We highly recommend a stay at Topsail and only have two complaints. The trolley to the beach only runs once an hour. With the number of people utilizing the trolley to get back and forth to the beach with their gear, it would be nice if the trolley would run more often. It is an easy walk, but not when you are carrying a bunch of stuff. Our site had a cement pad and drive. The driveway portion was all chopped up and difficult to walk on. We felt it was a hazard as someone could easily trip and fall. Other sites look as they had been redone with gravel and in our site it would have been nice if this had been done on the driveway portion. Lots of restaurants and shopping if you drive toward Destin area. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are mostly shady and pretty roomy. Some are concrete but many are in very broken up condition. Some have been resurfaced with gravel. Some of the trees are in need of trimming. The biggest need this park has is for more staff. The pool has rules plainly posted, yet there are always younger kids in the pool with no parent present to monitor their behavior, which ranges from OK to annoying to unacceptable. We also had a problem with two boys who were camping in site 58. They were constantly unsupervised and behaved disrepectfully, even threateningly . We were worried they would vandalize our towed. Some park staff patrolling after dark would help to discourage this kind of behavior. All in all, this is a very pretty park at a great price...but improvements are needed, especially in enforcing the rules and monitoring behavior. FHU, but no WI-FI, except near the camp store. The cable system has been upgraded since last year with a lot more channels. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Most restaurants are a 20-30 drive away around Destin. Prices are quite high, but this is what you get in a tourist area. There is a local Wal-Mart, but it is more of a grocery store than a true Supercenter. Should you fall ill, there is an excellent walk-in clinic called Doc Smiley's Urgent Care about 15 miles east and south. I only mention that because my wife became quite ill and, in desperation, we Google medical care and found them.

This state park campground is located between Panama City Beach & Destin. It is a bit different than other Florida state parks in that you have sewer and cable hook-up in addition to the usual water and electric (50/30 amp). The list of cable channels is extensive and the reception was great although we spent most of our time outside, not inside watching TV. There are many biking and hiking trails. There is a trolley available that takes you to the Gulf of Mexico beach (it's a bit of a walk at almost a mile especially if you are lugging beach gear). We rode our bikes there and there's still a long boardwalk to navigate through the sand dunes to get to the beach itself. Unfortunately, the weather was not conducive to swimming or sunbathing during our visit. Please note! This is a very popular state park and the camp was quite full. Lots of families (meaning lots of kids around). Some sites are concrete, some are gravel (we had gravel) but it was very level. There was a picnic table at our site but no fire pit. The staff is nice and helpful. The bathrooms/shower building has A/C. One thing that I was not happy about is their policy regarding use of personal kayaks. There's several coastal lakes in the park but you cannot use your own kayak, you have to rent one of theirs. They claimed the reason was the coastal lakes have a delicate ecosystem and they don't want any kind of foreign algae or contaminants brought in to it. While I'm sure the lake's ecosystem should be considered, there's another state park just down the road with the exact same kind of coastal lakes and they allow personal kayaks. I think it was just some kind of ploy to force people to rent their equipment. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Travel Trailer.

This is plain and simple a great RV park. Full hookups, level sites and all in a state park / nature preserve with a dedicated beach for state park / RV presort patrons. The sites are relatively small by state park standards, but each one is very nice and there is a lot of foliage to make your site private enough from the next one. The only bummer of this park is getting to the beach and it's a small enough annoyance that I didn't knock down my rating. From the campground, the walk (one way) to the beach is around half a mile. The path to there is paved and there is plenty of bike parking at the beach so if you have a bike, you're golden. The walk is fine as well as long as you are ready for it. We walked it 3 times in our 2 night stay at the park. Don't count on the park tram, though. It only runs every 2 hours. There are laundry facilities on site and we used them. Very nice. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Travel Trailer.

Spaces are wide with good foliage between neighbors. Surprised to have sewer and cable at a state park. Campground is about 3/4 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and their private beach. If you don't want to walk or bike, they have a free tram to take you. Very convenient if you are carrying coolers, chairs, etc. There are many paved bike/walking trails and some nature trails for hiking. We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Motorhome.

Wow, what an amazing place! My husband and I spent 6 nights here, and I wish we could have stayed longer! We've visited many state parks all over the country and think this is the best one we've ever been to! Very well maintained, sites are roomy and private, and the location couldn't be better. Was very impressed that we had full hook up and concrete pad. Nice landscaping, great hiking trails. We especially loved the paved trail to the beach, which was gorgeous. Went to see the sunset several nights, what a treat. It's a bit of a long walk to the beach, so the tram, which runs every two hours, was handy. Took it there then walked back. Campground also has tons of cable tv stations, which we were really excited about. Problem is, they are all high definition, and we have older tvs so we weren't able to get any of them. Barely got a few channels in on our antenna, so that was kind of disappointing. Did laundry there several times and was impressed with how many washers and dryers there were. Never had to wait. Everything at this park is so well maintained and clean. I do wish we'd had a spot in the newer portion of park, as the sites there were much more private. You need to plan ahead to book a spot for this campground, as they are always full. Take a drive down 30A, beautiful resorts and beaches. The upscale town of Seaside is amazing! We also were very impressed with the pool and pool area. What a treat to have at a state park! I swam one day, but since it's not heated it was very, very cold! The only negative I can say is that we didn't stay longer! We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Motorhome.

We spent a week at Topsail during the off season. There are several state parks in the area and Topsail is the largest by far. In addition to a couple of hundred RV sites, the park is also a 1600 acre nature preserve with pristine dunes along three miles of oceanfront on the Gulf of Mexico. The beach is about a mile away from the campground. It's an easy walk or bicycle ride if you're not lugging chairs and coolers. Or you can catch a free tram ride down to the beach, which runs every half hour during peak season but only every two hours during winter. Unfortunately there's not any vehicle parking at the beach, so you're stuck walking or waiting for the tram. But once you've made it to the shore you're rewarded with the famous sugar white sands of the Emerald Coast. Topsail also features several fresh water lakes where fishing is reported to be excellent. But it's an arduous 3 mile hike to reach the lakes (no cars allowed) so we didn't get our lines wet this trip. The RV sites were spacious and private, with full hookups including sewer. Most sites are concrete pads, a few are thick gravel, all are level and have deep shade. Cable TV is available but runs on a Qam signal - you must have a TV capable of receiving Qam, which ours were not. There's a big camp store which rents bicycles, paddleboards, and kayaks. A small swimming pool is near the entrance, and there's several walking paths that pass by lovely little ponds. One pond has an alligator warning! No fire pits provided, but you're invited to bring your own fire ring or purchase one ($60) at the camp store. The park is gated at night and a passcode is given when you arrive. Very safe, quiet, and lovely to walk around in the evenings. We really enjoyed our week at Topsail and plan to return next year! We camped at Topsail Hill State Preserve in a Motorhome.
