Stayed here for second time in the past year in our 40 foot MH. Good: Utilities, restrooms, laundry immaculate, pool/hot tub, staff, location Bad: some of the seasonal units are in need of repair/replacement. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

Some attitude adjustments needed by the employees. Had a friend stop by to say hi and visit for an hour. They charged $5. Woke up one morning to find condoms on our truck. Would have used the restrooms but the smell was awful. Kids of all ages allowed to get into the hot tubs. The sites were in desperate need of repairs. Be sure to bring levelers. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Travel Trailer.

The employees were very professional and helpful. There was a vehicle parked in the spot we were assigned and they helped get it removed. The view of Long Bayou was awesome. The park is big with a variety of occupants....RV's, homes and RV's made into homes. Very well kept. Plenty of activities. It is close to downtown. Definately would stay here again. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This KOA was stressful to say the least. There were so many people and the RV's were packed so tightly that there was no privacy. The people staying in the cabins and driving in their trailers were parked in the street so that you could barely get down the street in a car, let alone your RV. It looks like there are a lot of long term people that stay at the park and then the short term people are just fitted into the smaller areas. There was a tiny dedicated dog walk that had no grass and it was right up front with all of the cars going by and the pool area, so my dog wouldn't go in that area. We finally had to walk her down a trail outside of the park to find a patch of grass where there were fewer people. There were a lot of kids running around with no parental supervision. The day we left the street was blocked with a car from a cabin and on the other side on of their "long" term guest had put up a fence around their area. We knocked on the door of the cabin to get the car moved however, no one was around. The person that put up the fence finally came out to move one portion so that we could get out. It looked like it really put him out. Our section was tight but there were certain sections that literally had you walking out of your camper right into another camper's section. We know that they try to get as many camp sites into an area but this was not fun. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

As previous reviews have stated this is an old RV park. It's clean but the roads inside the park are extremely narrow and most sites only had 30A power. We were fortunate to get a spot right on the Bayou but other sites backed up to a bike path and ditch where a construction crew was working with big equipment all day. Our 5th wheel is only 31 feet long but it took a lot of skill to get into the narrow space. The sewer outlet was located under the middle of our rig so I had to crawl under the trailer to attach the sewer line. Since the power was only 30A we could only run one A/C unit at a time and it was 85 degrees with 70-80% humidity so one half of our rig was very uncomfortable. On the first night all our power went out and flipping the breaker didn't help. The next morning the Assistant Manager came over to investigate. The breaker had burned out. He was exceptionally nice and offered to comp us one day for the inconvenience. The power box was rusty and hanging at an angle on a 4X4 pole. The power needs to be upgraded. Cable was horrible with lines and fuzz running across the picture and WiFi extremely weak. We paid $104 per night. For that high of price you would expect better amenities. The staff was great and again the Assistant Manager was a super nice guy and very helpful. Overall, it was a clean park and we had a beautiful spot but for these premium prices you would expect 50A power, decent cable, and usable WiFi. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This KOA is an older park at the end of an unattractive industrial road. Once you arrive to the park, it's nice and is on the water. It's a little hard to see the water because of all the foliage at the shore. This park is barely-barely 'big rig friendly', you have to be careful maneuvering around the trees. I had to put out my orange cones at the front and back of the coach of our pull-through site just to be safe as we had no wiggle room. Our car was parked in the grass next to the coach. The roads are in need of some repair, they are asphalt as are the parking pads but are very aged. There is a picnic table and fire ring at each site. The electric was good at 120 volts on each leg. Apparently, we arrived during the 'in' season. The price, I feel, was way too high. The park was not full, maybe 75% full. The park seems to be cut in half, one side for park models and the other for RV'ers. All seemed to mesh well. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

I know the KOA is not responsible for the maintenance of the road leading into the campground, but the county or city needs to make some much needed repairs to the bumpy and pitted road.

Great staff! I made my reservations on line, thinking they were for March. My mistake, they were for May! Got there, nothing available - yet they found us a site after some serious effort! Office staff is excellent! Took care of those in the store BEFORE answering the phone!!! Typical KOA in terms of tightness of sites. Some very close, ours (in older section with no cable tv) was larger. Interior roads are paved, sited are dirt with concrete patio. It's an old campground dealing with much larger rigs than what it was built for! Some shaded, many sites with no or little shade. Only part of the CG has cable tv. We were told OTA tv reception was good. Were able to use Sat TV at our site. Nice pool, 2 hot tubs (one is adults only!). Large clubhouse with play room. Very well stocked camp store. Quiet for its size! Very clean, with staff everywhere eager to please. Many snowbirds and permanent sites but everyone is friendly. Entertainment every weekend evening. Excellent location, very close to Madiera Beach. We will be back! We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

We stay at this park while visiting family and friends in the area. As others have noted you drive thru an industrial area to get to the park but once you enter it is a lot different. Large oak trees shade many of the campsites and others are along the water. As with many KOA's the sites are close together with little to no ground cover between. Although some aspects of the campground are showing their age the park is kept clean and we did not experience any problems with utilities. The pool and hot tub area is very nice and the restroom/showers at the pool have just been renovated and are among the nicest we have encountered. As campgrounds are limited in this area the location of this one makes it an ideal choice for access to the beaches and other activities the area has to offer. Staff friendly and helpful. Check in was quick and easy. We will camp here again. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Travel Trailer.

They maintain a night security person at the only entrance into the park. They have a large variety of activities for all ages. There is a playground, pool (which is very hot in July), put-put course, 2 floating docks, 2 small laundry areas, (a 3rd facility is being remodeled). The park is beautiful, the staff are very friendly. The manager is a mean, angry woman who can make you wish you had stayed elsewhere. We will NOT be back! We stayed here a week and loved it all. The view of the water was lovely. The pool was huge. I called on short notice to make reservations and then had to call back to change the dates. The front office staff was super friendly, calm and accommodating. I truly appreciated their patience which made the whole check in experience very pleasant. I have read so many poor reviews of this campground and don't understand them at all. We have a 2013 Monaco Knight and we had no troubles with space, entering and exiting, and unpleasant events. The space was level and we had several trees for shade. We thought the campground was very neat and they were doing lots of updates. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We have a large dog and had no issues with other animals. The dog parks are efficient. Everything is so close by and Disney was about 1 1/2 hours away. I would stay here again and again...just not in July! Hot, hot, hot! My son stayed in a cabin and I am doing a separate review on his experience. Suffice to say, he is staying here again. Loved our time and it helped to make this one wonderful, fun family vacation. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

Reserved a Deluxe Pull Thru site and we even visited the park the weekend before to check out our site and was satisfied although sites were pretty close together. Upon arrival we were directed to another space that was a back in and was told it was waterfront so we did not complain. Well, it was waterfront all right but you could not see the water for the mangroves. We were put in the back of the park where all of the empty snowbird RV's were except for the person next to us. Very far from the office and pool which we did not use as it was very crowded. The fire ring of our neighbor was too close to our RV. There were some tenters that rented a space close to us and were burning 2X4's and paper. The narrow road to the park was through an industrial area that was full of holes and in need of repair. I was very unsatisfied with this park and will never return. The staff was friendly but had to guard the entrance most of the time. We camped at St. Petersburg / Madeira Beach KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is overpriced for the over all experience. On the plus side, the staff is friendly and do the best with what they are given. The park is generally run down and in need of some TLC. The roads are narrow which can make it hard for bigger units to navigate on. The sites are very close and do not reflect as pictured on their web site. There is good wifi here but no cable unless you are a permanent resident. Overall this park is an eye sore with the number of sites that have become residences and lack in property upkeep. At night there is a strong odor of sewer in the air which adds to the run down feeling of this park. The laundry facilities are clean and open 24/7. We would not stay here again.
