Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The rate reflects a KOA discount, and is for a pull thru, 50amp full hookup "premium" site. This KOA is somewhat better than the average KOA as it is well laid out, and the sites are easy to get in and out of. The park is right off highway 301 on the south side of Starke, with much shopping nearby. The roads in the park are paved, our site was asphalt paved with a small concrete patio. Wifi did not work well, but we had good Verizon and AT&T service for voice and data. We did not use the park cable, but many of the sites do have good satellite access. If satellite access is needed we suggest that you make this request when making your reservation as many of the sites will not allow for this due to large trees. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

The park was neat and well kept. The staff was friendly and helpful. The laundry was clean and inexpensive. $1.50 wash and $1.50 dry. Close to a Walmart and several other grocery stores, gas stations and just about anything you need. Easy in and out. Propane was very inexpensive. Stayed there 6 days. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is near enough to a train track to hear them but it did not seem to be intrusive. I like trains anyway.

Probably best KOA we've used over 17 year MH. Stayed here 1 night while traveling. Did not leave park except to buy some cokes at the shopping center next door, thru the 8am to 8pm walking gate. Pleasant and helpful staff along with the nicest and cleanest showers we've used. Easy entry of FL 301 with good cable tv, but so-so wifi. Never have had a good wifi in all our years, so we use a Verizon hot spot. Interesting gate to the shopping center adjacent - which we used. We stayed here in a class B MH, no slides or toad. We would go out of our way to stay here again. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

Well kept grounds, polite and friendly staff. Pull thru site was easy access in and out. Pool area clean and inviting. At the time we stayed the park didn't offer a weekly rate so it got a bit expensive for our extended vacation, that's the only reason we switched parks. Otherwise would have stayed longer. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

When you check in they give you a coupon for 10% off at a small barbeque place just outside the gate (walk there in 2 minutes) so it's convenient, staff is super friendly, and it's great food...although I'd call it more like smoked than barbeque, don't expect it to have any sauce on it, it's kind of different than we expected :-)

This is a bit of a gem. The turns are a bit tight but you get a very good escort who lets you know exactly how to get in and out. Our site was terrific, on an end, pull-through and great land next to us. The VERY WORST part was leaving. There's nowhere to turn around if you need to take a left out of the park and we ended up going down a road and unhooking the tow. We got out but it was tough. We may stay again if the opportunity arises. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

If you need to leave by taking a left, just wait for traffic to ease up and take the left. Don't try to turn around.

Stopped here for an overnite heading to Ocala but the Ocala parks were full...ended up being a good decision! Nice paved road in the park, grassy site with concrete picnic pad & table & FHU sites with good cable & wifi that actually works. Nice folks greet & take you to your site & the park itself is pretty open with surrounding trees and a few in the park. Everything is will maintained & clean. Hard to see this as a long term stay place but it is excellent for a day or two. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

KOA discount for two nights. Site was large, level and paved with FHU and 50 amp. Good Verizon cell/MiFi reception. Good satellite reception, but had to park to avoid interference from trees. We would stay here again. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

Very easy check in with a guide to our site. Good sized lots but wide open with little privacy. Decent number of cable stations and free wifi. Some long term rentals and a few park models around the edges. This park is beautifully located for northerners doing the snowbird run south and looking to provision their rig. Biggest perk for us is that this park is within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. If only it had south Florida weather! Clean showers and laundry and a dog walk area. Pleasant and friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

Single overnight stay in 39' fifth wheel. Nice host and guide (who took us to site). Check in took less than 2 minutes. Restrooms, shower, pool, and laundry clean. Areas were well maintained. Small patio met our need for the night. Easy in and out. By restricting things like separate screen rooms, park looked nice front to back. (Weren't any flying insects anyway) This isn't fancy but it is very nice. Rate reflects KOA Value Kard rate. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice clean campground. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Shopping and dining within walking distance. You can hear the train close by several times a day, but at night I slept so good never heard it. Great WiFi signal strength. Defiantly would stay here again if in the area. This is a nice clean park with easy access. The staff is friendly and helpful; the grounds are nice and clean; and big-rig friendly due to limited landscaping. There are no campfires allowed, except at the one "community" fire pit. There's a bit of road noise from the highway, but it's an easy drive to restaurants and shopping. We'd stay here again - but it might get boring for a week's stay, especially if you have kids (I don't remember much of a playground and there wasn't a dog park). We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

If you're coming south on Rt. 301, the turn into the entrance is tight. Interior roads are narrow. The campground host leads you to your site. Pull-through sites are level and long enough that we didn't need to unhook our Ford Escape from our 36' motorhome. There's a concrete patio and a table but no fire ring. Neaby trains sound their horns all day and a few times during the night, but they didn't really bother us. We would go there again. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground with mix of RVs and park models. Some cement and some sandy gravel sites. Wi-Fi and cable were good. Staff friendly and welcoming. Pet friendly park. Bathrooms adequate and clean. This was our second visit and will return here again as it is a good stopover when heading south to Gulf coast. We camped at Starke / Gainesville N.E. KOA in a Motorhome.
