Overall Rating:

Old park built when RVs were smaller, so sites are barely adequate for larger rigs. Sites are dirt and grass. Ours was level and easy to access. Location is good for access to Temple Terrace, New Tampa, and Brandon, which is what we needed. Electric amperage was marginal (tripped circuit breaker once) and WIFI was fair to poor. Sewer connection was old style with no threads on pipe. Park was pleasantly quiet. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Motorhome.

They didn't advertise as 55+, but they really are. They let us stay for the weekend for the RV show. Park is small, yet well kept, plenty of shade. They we're full for the weekend, and we had some issues with power. Temperatures were in the 50s; just planned on using the heat pumps and didn't fill the propane. About 10 pm the surge protector in our rig got low voltage from the pedestal, Second night things went okay until 4am. Would definitely ask about how full the park is especially during summer. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Motorhome.

This trailer park used to be very trashy years ago. Has been cleaned up somewhat. Sites not level, close together, barely enough room for tow vehicle. Much knit picking by permanent tenants(majority of park). Laundry facility not worth using...dryers are just slot machines! Will not revisit! We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Our first impression was that the campground is convenient to Tampa, nearby attractions, and the highway. Also upon driving in, it appears to be an oasis of large shade trees right off a six lane hwy. Most sites are roomy, with a mix of grass, weeds, and sand.

The condition of the park is declining; the swimming pool needs repair and attention, buildings are aged, the laundry rooms have resident spiders and machines do not work properly. Roads are paved, but the dump station is in the middle of the road in front of sites. The center of the RV park houses a sewage treatment plant; every time the wind blows the aroma carries through the park. New park management is trying to make improvements to this park. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you visit Thonotosassa, Florida, be sure to visit Lettuce Lake Park off Fletcher Ave. There is a beautiful boardwalk there, and a nice, paved bike trail. In the opposite direction on Morris Bridge Rd are three beautiful wilderness parks, one with a really nice (flatwoods) 7 mile loop bike trail.

I actually lived there for 2 years in 1980-1982. During that time I had an excellent time there. People were friendly and I had a few good friends that I met there. I met a girl and we forged our relationship there. Later she became my wife. 35 years later we still go there to camp in our small camp trailer every year to remember a simpler time for us. An engaging time. This place holds a special place in my life. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for a week visiting friends in the Tampa area. Easy access to I-75 with lots of places to eat/shop nearby. This is an older park and appears most residents are full-timers. We did not use the pool or laundry facilities but both appeared clean and adequate. We have stayed here before and will stay again when visiting the Tampa area. We had planned to stay a month but had to shorten trip due to health issues and office was very accommodating. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We only stayed overnight but wanted to stay longer! EVERYONE was so friendly and helpful. This park is so clean and cute. My entire family wanted to stay and play. The teens loved the pool. The night guard helped me with the laundry and my husband with directions to the grocery store. After 15 states in 34 days this one makes our top 5! $504/month plus electric.

The roads are asphalt. The sites are grassy/sand/dirt. There is a concrete patio and picnic table at each site. Depending on what spot you get, it can be a little difficult to get into. The ladies in the office when we checked in, weren't super knowledgeable about telling us which way to pull in, but they were nice.

Lots of shade. A fenced dog park. Treats for the pups up by the office. Washers are $1.50 (could be better), and dryers are $1.50. The pool is nice and has yet to be crowded at all. They say it is a 55+ park but they let us stay and I've seen kids and teenagers, as well as other couples in their 20s and 30s. There is a security guard at the front. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Walking distance to Winn Dixie, Dollar Tree, a liquor store. The Big Top Flea Market across the street is open Saturdays and Sundays. Great for fresh produce and EVERYTHING else you can think of!

Overall Rating:

Asphalt paved roads offer pretty good maneuverability, even for bigger rigs. Campsites are relatively level, and sand with some grass mixed in. Swimming pool was nice, and seemed to be kept clean, except when there was a high bathing load, then the water took on a filmy kind of look. Which may be from inconsiderate people not following the obvious signage requesting one utilize the outside shower to hose off lotions and sprays before entering the pool. It's a smaller pool that got crowded with more than 5-6 people in at one time.

Two laundry rooms with low laundry rates ($1.50 for a wash). Older machines but functional. Most sites are well shaded. Free Wi-Fi was REAAALLLLY slow, sometimes not functional. So if Internet is important to you, you might want to go elsewhere. It frequently took forever for websites to load, usually with them eventually saying server not responding. Ice and soft drinks available for purchase. Limited office hours. Security guard on duty at night will check you in if arriving late. Nice office staff very helpful. Lots of restaurants close by, both fast food and nicer ones. Winn-Dixie and a great liquor store with good prices right down the road. Only 4 miles from Busch Gardens. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Motorhome.

Where do I start? This park is very convenient to attractions, shopping and outdoor venues. That's where it ends. The park is old, depressing looking, and spaces are very tight. A lot of permanents and seasonal people that have accumulated a lot of junk and mold. The RV storage area is neater looking than most of the park. They might as well throw away the rules, since they are not always abided by. On a daily basis three of the seasonal guests near us allowed their dogs to bark and run loose. One of the violators is a staff member. Lastly, the office Manager seems to be very organized but needs some "friendly" training. I have never graded a park this low and would never stay here again. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stopped here to visit some friends that were staying for a short time as the park is close to their family. Pros: Close to a Winn-Dixie and a huge Flea market, that's it. Cons: The "new" office manager is the most abrasive and condescending person we have ever encountered on our travels. I'm 100% certain that her goal in life is to turn away and discourage anyone from staying here that is not a seasonal customer. The park is mainly seasonal's with a lot of permanent looking 5th wheels and travel trailers with built on decks and tent/storage buildings and "stuff". Older population, have only seen one child in the 10 days we've been here. To add insult to injury, we had our fairly expensive bicycle stolen. A few others in the park suffered thefts, and our neighbor also had their golf cart stolen. No apologies, no updates from management thus far. We would never recommend staying here nor would we ever return. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Motorhome.

This could be a nice park, but there are a lot of units that have been here for awhile and have a lot of accumulated "stuff" around them, giving it a run down look. Sites are not paved and are extremely tight. No cable. Lots and lots of sand to contend with. We found out the hard way some of the long term residents don't adhere to the leash law on pets. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We have been seasonal campers here at Happy Traveler for 7 years and have seen many positive changes in the park. It is conveniently located to everything: shopping, doctors, nature parks, amusement parks, and museums. The staff is very friendly and courteous and the campers are also. There are multiple activities to be involved with and/or participate in, even if only a short-time camper. We do not, or would not hesitate to recommend Happy Traveler RV Park to anyone. Overall Rating:

I have stayed here before and we were not too pleased. We returned this year and the park is under new management who have done some wonderful updates and are busy with many more. The management and staff are very friendly and helpful. What we love about this park is the close proximity to the I-75 (no interstate traffic noise) which enables you to be able to access everywhere in Tampa Bay so easily.(including Busch Gardens, Moffitt Cancer Center and the VA Hospital). There is a Winn Dixie supermarket right next door and the Big Top Flea Market is across the street. This park also has great huge Oak trees which are a blessing under the hot Florida sun. We did notice that there are only a couple of pull through sites and because of that plus the fact that most sites do not have cable TV, is the reason why I did not give Happy Traveler a higher rating. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is an older one, but staff and fellow campers were very helpful and nice. Dog friendly. Park is nice and quiet, site was fairly level, and wide enough for our slide and awning. We didn't participate in park activities, park is deceivingly big. Would stay here again. We camped at Happy Traveler RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
