Large state park with beautiful swimming pool and multiple activities available including biking, canoeing, kayaking. Close to Tampa. Campsites are generally large but many are in low areas prone to flooding. All but a very few sites are dirt (except some gravel sites in the 50-56 area. Very popular with large families in summer and around school holidays. Big rigs need to choose site carefully. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful, quiet park with some excellent amenities. Our site was relatively level sand and we had room for our screen house with privacy from neighbors. The only issue was the picnic table had been shoved off to one side and was so heavy that the two of us couldn't even drag it to where we needed it. The site was almost completely in shade, as is most of the campground, very necessary in the hot Florida sun. We were across from the bathhouse and the small playground. There are older washers and dryers sitting outdoors. The bathhouse is spacious but a little rundown by age. A few of the shower heads hung loose and some faucets handles didn't function well but generally the showers were usable. The campground host traveled around nightly selling firewood and ice, a nice touch. There were some ranger talks to attend as well as coffee and doughnuts one morning and an evening campground potluck dinner. There is a large and beautiful pool with gift shop and cafe for lunch plus many walking trails from ready to strenuous. There are bikes and peddle cars to rent as well as canoes and kayaks for use on the river that runs through the park. The park itself sits well back off Rte 301 so there is no traffic noise at all. This is a very nice, well located park to use as a base for traveling in the area. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Motorhome.

The pool and cafe area see quite nice with plenty of parking. You can also buy tickets at the ranger station to visit Fort Foster just down the road, if it is open.

Reserved on line easily. We have a big rig and were able to back-in a site with no problem. Site was pretty level. This is a nice state park with lots of trails, fishing, cafe, seasonal swimming pool, pavilions. There are two hosts to a camp loop if you have questions. Washer and dryer available near bathhouse. Water pressure was good, 50 & 30amp available. No wifi but good tv signal. Enjoyed our stay would stay again. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very primitive campground. Very dirty. Lots of tent campers with fires going all day, so smoke was heavy as winds were pushing it towards our travel trailer. Dog walk area is a mess. Lots of mulch and stuff piled up in the area. Left a day early as we didn't like the park. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great park to stay at if you like wildlife, fishing, hiking, biking, etc. There is a rails to trails biking trail about 3 miles down the main road. There are several miles of hiking rails within the park. We saw alligators, armidillos, a huge owl, many types of birds, deer, and lots of insects. The sites have lots of space and the restrooms were kept clean. There is a gate at the front entrance that closes at sundown, but your receive the code at check in so you can still get in after hours. The rangers we spoke to were extremely friendly. There is a huge pool that is $4 a day if you like to swim. The only wifi is at the camp store next to the pool. Interior campground roads could be tight for larger rv's. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Motorhome.

Roads are wide, sites are huge, and almost every site is well shaded! Bugs are out during the day and armadillos are out at night! Yes there are gators in the river, so it's not eh place to swim, but they do have a nice pool! We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful park. Friendly staff and volunteers. Lot of hiking trails, bike and golf cart rentals and even a pool which is closed until Spring. Sites are level with some vegetation. Saw a pretty big gator, an armadillo, lots of birds and pesky squirrels. Restrooms are modern and clean and laundry is available. Good TV reception and Verizon 4G. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Motorhome.

Be sure to check out the ranger led Fort Foster tour for $2. Also check with the camp hosts to see about the new and popular Potluck Wed. night and Coffee & Donut Hour on Thursday - both are a great way to meet fellow campers.

We camp in a 27' class A. Our sight was easy for back-in and spacious despite neighbors all around. It was close to level which was great for manual leveling. Water and electric were easily accessed on the left side of our rig. Despite the close proximity to the metropolitan area of Tampa, over the air TV was spotty at best because of the tree canopy. There are miles of walking, hiking and biking trails and river access. The Park is is to access from US 301 from I-75.

We will camp here again. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Motorhome.

This park would be excellent during the dry season. There is a lot of water on the trails and the mosquitoes and nats were horrible. Bugs really bad at sites along the river. We couldn't sit outside due to the bugs. Pool looks nice. Canoe and kayak rentals. Many sites large and easy to get into, a # were flooded. Gorgeous park. Sites were clean and most well spaced. The river and trails are amazing. Park staff very friendly. The road leading to the campground is long and full of speed bumps. Able to pick up local HD tv channels. Facilities were clean. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Motorhome.

We love this park, the only reason it doesnt get a higher rating is due to the mostly sand sites some which are a little hard to back into with a larger rig. Love the river here and they have a nice store/grill. We have stayed here before and will again. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here in a 40' motorhome on site 058. The campground is very old and in need of major site upgrades. The sites were fine dirt and mud, many including ours were unlevel. Interior roads were paved asphalt. Many of the sites were separated from their next door neighbors site by nothing more than a large tree log and that's it. Not a lot of privacy between sites. I could get a 4GLTe Verizon internet signal and 16 local TV stations with my antenna. The park had quite a few miles of nice level asphalt roads that were great for biking. There were a variety of free park activities that were scheduled by rangers throughout the week. The park had an "OK" feel to it, but, I would probably not come back for a 2nd visit.... We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very pretty state park with an older feeling campground and some strange layouts. Many of the sites are fairly close together with little visual separation. It was not crowded during our visit, so it was not a problem, but I would not want to camp there during a busy period. We had water and 50 amp service even though most sites around us only had 30 amp. We were able to find a hole in the trees for satellite, but most sites would not work for satellite. Our Verizon phone and data worked well. There are washers and dryers. You can put together a nice bike ride by combining the Wetlands trail in the park with some trails in adjacent Dead River Park and John B. Sergeant Park. There are also a number of nice easy hiking trails. We enjoyed our visit and would visit again. We camped at Hillsborough River State Park in a Motorhome.
