Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $62.00
Overall Rating:

This is a huge RV resort with a golf course and a number of amenities. Our site was privately owned and rented to us for the two nights that we stayed. It was shaded by multiple trees and had a picnic table for us to use. No fires are allowed in the resort. They have a pretty elaborate dog park, complete with a wading pool, though we didn't use it. There seemed to be very few people there (perhaps because it's July in Florida). We ate outside for two nights, but those in my family who were wearing shorts and T-shirts were eaten alive by what I think were "Biting Midges," which is a tiny little gnat. You can't feel the bite until after it's over, and it really itches afterward. We used a Thermacel and it didn't help at all. Pretty miserable. I think I'm remembering the $62 rate correctly; it could have been somewhere between $62 and $65. You can print a coupon for one night free if it's your first stay and you stay for at least two nights. My overall rating was affected by the lack of fire rings and the Biting Midges. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent. This resort is basically for people who buy their own site. Ours was double wide paved lot ( big enough for 4 RVs) and facing a beautiful pond - lots of wildlife. Hook-ups on both sides, so can back-in or pull-in. Excellent amenities. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

This is an expensive park ($65 / night). For this much money I would expect the site to be clean, trees trimmed so my paint job would not scratched and would have WIFI available at my site along with cable TV. The first site they directed me to would not accommodate my 40' motorhome because of the trees. I called the office and they suggested another site which was ok. There was no cable TV. If I wanted to use their WIFI you had to drive to their office which was a 10 minute drive because of their 15MPH speed limit. This park is very large. The speed limit was enforced by the campground police hiding in the bushes. We will not be staying in this park again. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

The Great Outdoors RV and Golf Resort is far, far more than just a place to stay...it is essentially a full-fledged community located on almost 3,000 acres. It comes complete with a manned 24-hour security gate into the area, defined separate neighborhood areas (RV pad sites, RV Port sites, RV Executive Suite sites, Park Homes, Resort Homes [gorgeous]), 2 restaurants, 2 swimming pools & spas, an inter-denominational church, beauty salon, massage therapist, RV Service [booked 3 months out] and Parts Retail Shop, par-71 golf course with clubhouse and pro shop, driving range, recreation hall, 4 tennis courts, 2 pickle-ball courts, 8 shuffleboard courts, catch-and-release fishing lake with docks, horseshoe pit, bocce ball court, exchange library, fitness center, 6 bathhouses, 6 laundry facilities, hobby/craft facility, USPS mail facility, Nature Center/Museum, walking/biking trails [keep your eyes open for alligators!], dog park, and RV Dealer display area. Really, the only things missing to be completely self-contained are grocery stores and gas stations...however those are very near. Throughout the week, a multitude of activities are offered for guests and residents, including aquacise, cards, wood carving, weaving, dancing, painting, bingo, music interests, ceramics, quilting, yoga, tai chi, zumba, photography, and karaoke. Although this is an ownership community, residents place their unoccupied sites into a rental pool, which are then rented to those of us who are temporary guests. Each long, level, concrete site offers full hook-ups with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer. Check-in at the Welcome Center was quickly accomplished and we were given a map which directed us to our no-frills, back-in site. Sites with build-outs are available for those wishing such amenities. All the staff with whom we interacted during our stay were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay at The Great Outdoors again and do not hesitate to recommend it to others. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

The staff have done a great job cleaning up debris from the recent hurricane. The golf was great. Water was high due to proximity to the river but I didn't see any sites that were affected. We love this place. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

This more like a town than a RV resort. There are 1300 different sites with a variety of options. You can choose just a pad, pad with executive suite, RV port, homes with or without a place for a RV. Theres a church, two restaurants, clubhouse, retail stores, and 18 hole golf course. Different areas have different options for ownership. While we were here, we parked on a basis pad just long enough for our coach and car. . No park-wide WiFi took rating down a point. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This resort is a huge ownership resort with many types of RV sites and port homes, with different roads and cul-de-sacs encompassing almost 3000 acres. There are nature trails, a golf course, a diner, a restaurant, pools, many lakes, a post office, etc. Everything in the resort is very clean, but a little dated. We stayed for a few nights to check it out but there seems to be a lot to do in the area if you have a vehicle and want to stay for a month or more. Utilities worked well, but there was no wifi at the site (we used our own hotspot). We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

There is a nice nature trail in the resort with a bridge that overlooks many birds and some alligators. Many people like to come to the bridge in their golf carts and watch the wildlife. The Kennedy Space Center is within driving distance as well as many beaches and other things to do.

Overall Rating:

Somewhat unusual park. It is a lot-owned park. Many of the owners have built small cottages on the back of the lot and many also have high roof carports for storing their RV. There are also neighborhoods where some attractive single-family homes are available, usually with a high garage to store the RV and some also with a 2-car garage and a golf cart garage also. Homes are mostly stucco but very attractive. Think that they start in the $300s. Back to the RV area. Not a lot of landscaping, almost no one has planted any flowers on their site, very unusual. Park was clean, located close to shopping, restaurants and the Kennedy Space Center and had very good roads. The site that we were assigned was just average, concrete pad, no fires allowed even in a fire pit and no picnic table. It is a mid-range park, not luxury, though their nightly price would indicate that it is higher end. Golf course on site, though did not get to play. Several pickleball courts, though only 12 people came out on a sunny Sat afternoon. Would stay here again if we came back to the area, but would also see if there are alternatives. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed the month of January for $1300 + tax. I'm surprised at some of the negative comments about TGO as it's known around here. We have enjoyed it so much we are considering buying a lot. Wish we could stay longer but during the winter they have a 30 day maximum if you rent from their rental pool in order to allow access to anyone who wants to check TGO out. If you want to stay longer you need to rent directly from a lot owner. The owners on Fawn Trail have been extremely friendly and helpful and I would be surprised if it's different anywhere else. No cable but our satellite was fine and plenty of OTA local TV channels. No wifi but our Verizon hotspot was strong. Great place to have a dog. We didn't use the dog park much but enjoyed walking on the dog walk path and up and down our street. Plenty of shopping nearby. One of the biggest exchange libraries I have seen. We rented a golf cart for the month and it was well worth it. I got a good haircut at Trimmers which is onsite. RV repair onsite if you need it. Also an electronics guy and mobile RV detail - we used both. Didn't notice any odor from the water treatment plant and only heard airboats occasionally and they weren't loud at all. We had a wonderful experience at TGO and hope to return! We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

The sites are individually owned and put into a rental pool. This is a great place if you love to golf. There is no WiFi or cable TV. We did not even have a picnic table. This is a huge resort/area. The speed limit is 15 mph with policing to enforce it. It is at least 3 miles from most sites out to route 50, so it takes quite some time to exit the area for shopping, etc. We would not stay here again. This is a park where all sites are owned. Some are just slabs to park on and others may have homes with RV covers. Some owners rent out. Rate was very reasonable. Had a beautiful site overlooking one of the small lakes. There is a restaurant and café on site. Also, has a service center on site. This was very helpful as my a/c wasn't working well. Eagle Service took care of everything by sending someone to diagnose at my site, handled all the extended warranty to have the a/c replaced and helped get a "chill grill" expedited to add on to the new a/c. Couldn't have had better care anywhere and all service was right on time. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

It is pretty in the park. It smells like sewage when you first drive in and pockets of the smell throughout the park all the time, the bath houses are not very good. The newest one is on Windsong. The Oak Cove bath house should be torn down and rebuilt. They have a cleaning crew and the cleaning crew works hard but the bathrooms are just OLD. Airboats run at night and nothing lessens the noise they make. Sounded like a helicopter landing on our RV. Not much to do there unless you like Golf A LOT. People are there year round and don't seem to like outsiders too much. Our stay was shorter than we intended. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

We were traveling with Adventure Caravans on a paid tour so I am not certain about the nightly rate.
We were parked in the rally area, a large parking lot with power and water. It was disappointing. However, the rest of the park has privately owned campsites, many with shelters. Some areas of the park have older structures. Some are brand new. From what we were told people coming in are assigned lots randomly, so there is no telling what area you will be in. There is a nice dog park. We camped at The Great Outdoors RV Nature & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

During the "snowbird" season rentals can be difficult to get for more then a short stay. Sites are large with plenty of room between sites and backing-in a large coach is not a problem in most areas. Full hook-ups, paved sites and roads. There's lots to do and shopping is close by. There is an on-site RV repair facility if you are having issues. The rates were for a monthly stay.
