The park is 'wooded' - Florida type wooded. Scrub & palmetto bushes. But it allows for quite a bit of shade for all the sites, which is really nice. It also offers privacy site to site. The sites are sensibly separated so you don't feel crowded. The park has gravel roads so in dry weather it is really dusty, but good drainage when there's heavy rain. There is no WiFi at all. You use hot spot or nothing. I hear they have WiFi at the office or clubhouse, but nothing throughout the park. Cable is good - about 80 channels. Over the air is good and Verizon is good. Also, the park has good water pressure. We were suppose to have 50 amp service but when we got there the face of the 50 amp plug was missing. They offered to give us another site which we declined. We came in on a Friday and they couldn't get it fixed until Monday. The 30 amp breaker was weak and continued to trip. On Monday it was fixed as promised and no harm done. We don't have a complaint about the service they provided in fixing the problem. We camped at Raptor Ranch at Tyndall AFB (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this military campground. The hosts are wonderful people and the sites are very private with lots of shade. Many of the sites are close to the water with a very nice view. Lots of space between sites with trees to allow privacy. Showers and restrooms were very clean. People are sociable and easy to meet. Lots of community gatherings. We camped at Raptor Ranch at Tyndall AFB (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We had a wonderful stay at this campground and will be back anytime we are in the Panama City area. The sites are very large and private, very shady. They aren't crammed up next to one another, which is nice. The restrooms and showers were immaculate. We didn't use the laundry facilities but they looked nice. Very large gathering room for tv watching, puzzles, games, etc. It appeared they do a lot of community get togethers here. We weren't here long enough to see any.

Gave it an 8 out of 10 due to: no wi-fi (however, we were told it is coming soon); no campfires allowed, and the recent snake and alligator sightings. Of course this is to be expected in Florida especially with so many trees/bushes/overgrowth, but it did put a level of caution in our heads, especially when walking to the showers. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and we look forward to staying again soon. We camped at Raptor Ranch at Tyndall AFB (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

You absolutely must go to the beach on the Tyndall Air Force Base. It is quite a long walk from the parking lot to the sand, but OH SO worth it! It is like paradise: no buildings or tourist places to spoil it. Use the restroom before you go and take a cooler with your lunch/drinks. (Remember: no buildings or anything there except sand).

Nice campground. I concur with some earlier reviews. This place is very active and very friendly. We got the 'feel' of the place the first 20 minutes we were here. Easy to meet people and always something going on. Coffee and cookies in the morning. Last night there was some music in the club house/community building. The gravel / dirt loops are in great shape and well maintained. Despite the short pads, they were no problem for our 40' RV. I am always concerned when my wheels are off the ground, but no such problem here. Very nice place in the trees. No TV satellite but each site has cable. Cell phone is not great but still doesn't detract from what we consider to be a great place. We will be back! We camped at Raptor Ranch at Tyndall AFB (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

EXERCISE! EXERCISE! ALERT LEVEL BRAVO! This announcement emanated from a large, 3-headed speaker on a pole near our camp site. After the first two words, I thought I had to jump out of bed and do calisthenics! This was preceded by four fighter jets roaring over head. Makes military types feel at home. Very convivial camp. Regulars served-up a low cost Valentine's breakfast in a great club house. There's a gazebo with a fire going and people talking. Many shaded, roomy sites. Some men were splitting wood for later use, mid-morning. Campers use the rest room / shower in shifts, alternating on the hour for men and women. There are unheated toilet facilities near the office. Free Wi-Fi. Low cost was due to our being in "over-flow" where we had 30 amps and water. Many snow birds do extended stays but reservations are taken. Beautiful camp. We camped at Raptor Ranch at Tyndall AFB (Military FamCamp) in a Travel Trailer.

Roads are gravel and most sites have concrete pads, but they are short pads for some big rigs. Nice walking trails around the edges of the park. Back sites are on the bay side. Personnel are nice. Park is usually full with regular travelers in the winter months. Lots of activities going on in the winter. Coffee and cookies in the clubhouse in the mornings during the busy season. Lots of pot lucks and parties in the winter seasons. WiFi access in the clubhouse. Small play area for kids, pool table, shuffleboard table inside. Some exercise equipment in the clubhouse. Lots of fun in the winter months when the park is full. More quiet in the summertime. Right off the base, and close to lots of beach areas. We camped at Raptor Ranch at Tyndall AFB (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.
