Spent 14 nites, camped with 2 other campers that we travel with. Upon arriving, were told to drive around and select sites from list provided. At 1 PM, meet at office. 1st come to camp, 1st on list to select a site. Luckily, no one before us wanted the three sites we wanted. The three were close to each other. (never had this system before) Nice pool, and many activities. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Must go to Arcadia to M&J meat/produce. Great meats at great $$. We kayaked on the Peace River, beautiful. Many folks screening for artifacts in the river. Mostly find sharks teeth?? Alligators were present, but didn't bother the folks. Me, no way gonna stand in the river. Many food stores near.

This was our first time at this park, which is one given to Leisure Time members to replace one that was closed in the Pacific Northwest (we assume). Like others in the TT system, it's first-come, first-served. At check-in we were given a list of 50-amp sites that were vacant, and the young lady gave us some pointers about where to look first given our size. We rode our bicycles in to look first (probably shouldn't have done that, but we don't like surprises), picked our spot and figured out the route to take, and got parked with minimum effort. It seems there is a 50-amp lottery when the park is full in the winter months, but we arrived at the end of that season and there were 74 available to choose from. The bathrooms were clean, with individual showers with real doors. As usual, the mess comes from other campers not cleaning up after themselves. The pool looked nice, the hot tub seemed ok, we didn't use either. There were activities for the youngsters like coloring eggs, and there was an Easter potluck with the park providing ham. We didn't attend, but it seemed like there was plenty to do if you wanted to. Easy access to the river, but they don't rent kayaks or canoes so find another option or bring your own. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a multi-use sidewalk from the park both directions. To the south there's a gas station and across the highway a restaurant and a park. We walked to the restaurant for dinner, it was about 1/2 mile. Decent food, good prices, nothing fancy! The fried chicken was very good, and the salad bar was good. Try the pickled beets, they were yummy. There are a few state parks near enough for day trips, and of course the river's right there.

My first stay at a Thousand Trail park. First impression wasn't good, as soon as I rolled in an older man, maybe manager, jumped me for not parking in the right place to check in. Gee my first time here, he could of been nicer about the whole thing. Check in and told the lady it was my first time time here but she didn't offer to give me any type of overview of the park and facilities. Just gave me a map and told to me find an open spot and then call her with the number. No assistance in finding a spot. I then found a spot but the site number had worn off the plate so had no number to give her. The park itself is nice, lots of shade trees, pool, Jacuzzi and the campers are all very nice. Bottom line is my first impression was not good they should work on that. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Site was not level so used my legos. There is a Walmart about 4 miles north of park on Hwy 17. The usual fast food places. An Autozone as well.

Stayed for two weeks. Stay was relaxing and very enjoyable. Fellow campers were friendly and we had daily conversations. Help was the same as the campers. They had considerable damage from Hurricane Irma but are working hard to correct it. Didn't let the damage inconvenience the customers at all. This park is nice with lots of shade trees. Spacious lots which are mostly shady. Site surface is grass, featuring a fire ring and picnic table. Down side is the year round residents have really trashed up their lots. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

Had a great time. There were a lot of winter residents and some long term residents, as expected but everyone was very friendly. Staff was extra helpful. We enjoyed walking the trails and swimming. Also attended an evening activity. We will definitely stay again. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

Your experience will vary depending on time of year and your needs. During the busy time, you will almost assuredly be unable to get 50 amp or sewage when you arrive. You'll go to the office daily trying to get a better spot and probably will within a few days. I only need 30 amp and was only there for a week so could make do without sewage (they offer once a week "Honey Wagon" service as well) and everything worked great for me. The overflow area was dry when I went (I've heard horror stories about when it's not) and the spots were spacious and the electric & water worked great. Nice trails to walk, plenty of activities, the pickleball, and shuffleboard areas were in good shape and frequently used but you could almost always get in. The pool was popular, and the laundry facility was outstanding (pay with credit card or coins, get text messages when your laundry is done). Tips for other Campers:

There's a wal-mart within 5 miles. Not a lot of restaurants, but a few. Highly recommend Giovanni's. Main Street Grill is now a Mexican restaurant and was quite good. Otherwise, you're looking at a 30 - 45 minute drive to get to any significant shopping or dining.

If you're into wildlife sanctuaries, the "Lions and Tigers and Bears" in nearby Arcadia is excellent.

Lottery system for sewer hookups. May not be able to get 50 amp. Start in area with elect/water that may be a flooded out mud pit. TT may not honor your reservation or help you find an alternative park in their system if rain has closed the lower holding area. As members of thousand trails there are not many sites to choose from in Florida. This is a clean and nice park for us to get away and we stay here a couple weekends a year.

The staff are always friendly and the site is always clean, love to walk the trail down along the river and enjoy the nature sites.

Be mindful during rainy season as the lower section gets flooded and they have to close off half their sites, we have been stuck in the mud once or twice. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the nicer Thousand Trails parks we've stayed in. It's old, as they all are, but fairly well-maintained. The sites are grass, and we could see big gouges in some where people had had trouble getting out after a big rain because the ground was so soft. Only about half the sites have sewer, so they offer a "honey wagon" service for people who have sites without. We chose a site near the river that didn't have sewer and they offered us a free pump-out during our 6-night stay, which was very nice. Their electric service is subject to brownouts. We were unable to use our microwave during our stay because there wasn't enough power to run it. Our electric space heater and my hair tools worked fine. They have excellent wifi in the clubhouse. Also lots of activities. People here were very friendly, helpful. It's a nice setting, with a walking path along the river. Not much to do but there are restaurants and shops in nearby Wauchula for basics. We would stay here again. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

We belong to Thousand Trails, hence the price per night. Park had some issues with the home schooled kids while we were there, the staff did deal with it but it seems to be an on going problem. Again with the other Thousand Trails park in Orlando, there has been a slide in standards for the RVs and tents that are allowed in. We parked in the overflow part; unfortunately we got stuck because of the soft ground . No park employee came to our aid ,they did say call the tow company and they would pay the bill, that was it. With help from fellow Rvers we manage to get out after a couple of hours. If you go there be careful on what site you pick. Seriously thinking of getting rid of our membership with TT. Great park. Friendly staff. Enjoyed potluck twice in 2 wks. Plenty of activities. Concrete patios are great! Verizon 4 of 5 bars. Showers: 3.5 of 5. Recycling: disappointing - aluminum cans only, reciprocals were not labeled so no one knows what/where they are and what should be included. Also, nothing in printed material. When are RV parks going to become part of "the solution" instead of "the problem?" We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

We are Thousand Trails members and thus get a discount on rentals. Nice campground with many shaded sites and many open sites. Half of the sites are W/E only and these also are prone to getting very wet and muddy when it rains. The W/E/S sites are on higher ground and are thus more desirable. They have a lottery system to get into the W/E/S sites at 1:00 every day. We were lucky and, even though we arrived at the campground at 12:30, we got a W/E/S site right away. Since it was a shaded site, it was a bit hard to maneuver in but we liked the site. Picnic table, fire pit, pool, shuffleboard and other activities. 30 miles to Sarasota and the Ringling Museum - don't miss this. Would definitely stay here again. There are trails around the park which go near the river and you can go kayaking. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Have stayed here many times with good experiences until now. I know it is "off season" but the grass looked as though it hadn't been mowed for at least three weeks; it was over my ankles. A good crowd for this time of year, but little care being given to appearances. The lower section by the river was blocked off and closed. Still a great place to stay, but a shame to let things go. Rate is Thousand Trails. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

As members of Thousand Trails/Outdoor World, we are not charged a nightly rate. This campground is very nice. All sites are back-in, and most have more than enough room for a big rig. Some sites are easier to get into than others. Watch out for trees and tree stumps. My wife loves the heated pool. There are many activities, and Wachula is a nice little town with some good restaurants. We always make it a point to stop here when visiting Florida.
