This park is nice with lots of shade trees. Spacious lots which are mostly shady. Site surface is grass, featuring a fire ring and picnic table. Down side is the year round residents have really trashed up their lots. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

Your experience will vary depending on time of year and your needs. During the busy time, you will almost assuredly be unable to get 50 amp or sewage when you arrive. You'll go to the office daily trying to get a better spot and probably will within a few days. I only need 30 amp and was only there for a week so could make do without sewage (they offer once a week "Honey Wagon" service as well) and everything worked great for me. The overflow area was dry when I went (I've heard horror stories about when it's not) and the spots were spacious and the electric & water worked great. Nice trails to walk, plenty of activities, the pickleball, and shuffleboard areas were in good shape and frequently used but you could almost always get in. The pool was popular, and the laundry facility was outstanding (pay with credit card or coins, get text messages when your laundry is done). We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There's a wal-mart within 5 miles. Not a lot of restaurants, but a few. Highly recommend Giovanni's. Main Street Grill is now a Mexican restaurant and was quite good. Otherwise, you're looking at a 30 - 45 minute drive to get to any significant shopping or dining.

If you're into wildlife sanctuaries, the "Lions and Tigers and Bears" in nearby Arcadia is excellent.

Had a great time. There were a lot of winter residents and some long term residents, as expected but everyone was very friendly. Staff was extra helpful. We enjoyed walking the trails and swimming. Also attended an evening activity. We will definitely stay again. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

Lottery system for sewer hookups. May not be able to get 50 amp. Start in area with elect/water that may be a flooded out mud pit. TT may not honor your reservation or help you find an alternative park in their system if rain has closed the lower holding area. As members of thousand trails there are not many sites to choose from in Florida. This is a clean and nice park for us to get away and we stay here a couple weekends a year.

The staff are always friendly and the site is always clean, love to walk the trail down along the river and enjoy the nature sites.

Be mindful during rainy season as the lower section gets flooded and they have to close off half their sites, we have been stuck in the mud once or twice. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the nicer Thousand Trails parks we've stayed in. It's old, as they all are, but fairly well-maintained. The sites are grass, and we could see big gouges in some where people had had trouble getting out after a big rain because the ground was so soft. Only about half the sites have sewer, so they offer a "honey wagon" service for people who have sites without. We chose a site near the river that didn't have sewer and they offered us a free pump-out during our 6-night stay, which was very nice. Their electric service is subject to brownouts. We were unable to use our microwave during our stay because there wasn't enough power to run it. Our electric space heater and my hair tools worked fine. They have excellent wifi in the clubhouse. Also lots of activities. People here were very friendly, helpful. It's a nice setting, with a walking path along the river. Not much to do but there are restaurants and shops in nearby Wauchula for basics. We would stay here again. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

We belong to Thousand Trails, hence the price per night. Park had some issues with the home schooled kids while we were there, the staff did deal with it but it seems to be an on going problem. Again with the other Thousand Trails park in Orlando, there has been a slide in standards for the RVs and tents that are allowed in. We parked in the overflow part; unfortunately we got stuck because of the soft ground . No park employee came to our aid ,they did say call the tow company and they would pay the bill, that was it. With help from fellow Rvers we manage to get out after a couple of hours. If you go there be careful on what site you pick. Seriously thinking of getting rid of our membership with TT. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Great park. Friendly staff. Enjoyed potluck twice in 2 wks. Plenty of activities. Concrete patios are great! Verizon 4 of 5 bars. Showers: 3.5 of 5. Recycling: disappointing - aluminum cans only, reciprocals were not labeled so no one knows what/where they are and what should be included. Also, nothing in printed material. When are RV parks going to become part of "the solution" instead of "the problem?" We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Fifth Wheel.

We are Thousand Trails members and thus get a discount on rentals. Nice campground with many shaded sites and many open sites. Half of the sites are W/E only and these also are prone to getting very wet and muddy when it rains. The W/E/S sites are on higher ground and are thus more desirable. They have a lottery system to get into the W/E/S sites at 1:00 every day. We were lucky and, even though we arrived at the campground at 12:30, we got a W/E/S site right away. Since it was a shaded site, it was a bit hard to maneuver in but we liked the site. Picnic table, fire pit, pool, shuffleboard and other activities. 30 miles to Sarasota and the Ringling Museum - don't miss this. Would definitely stay here again. There are trails around the park which go near the river and you can go kayaking. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Have stayed here many times with good experiences until now. I know it is "off season" but the grass looked as though it hadn't been mowed for at least three weeks; it was over my ankles. A good crowd for this time of year, but little care being given to appearances. The lower section by the river was blocked off and closed. Still a great place to stay, but a shame to let things go. Rate is Thousand Trails. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.

As members of Thousand Trails/Outdoor World, we are not charged a nightly rate. This campground is very nice. All sites are back-in, and most have more than enough room for a big rig. Some sites are easier to get into than others. Watch out for trees and tree stumps. My wife loves the heated pool. There are many activities, and Wachula is a nice little town with some good restaurants. We always make it a point to stop here when visiting Florida. Stayed at this park as a Thousand Trails member. We got a beautiful site on the river (P86) but left the park early due to the electrical problems. We knew the site was a non sewer, 30amp site, but were not prepared for voltage fluctuating as low as 98 volts. Maintenance came to the site but said it was a problem when a lot of people were using power. We came back after a shopping trip to find our power off due to low voltage. We have a pet parrot and were worried about leaving and coming back to find him overheated or worse. We turned off the air, hot water heater, and refrigeration but the incoming volt still dropped below 100 volts. I finally turned the box off and used our inverter for power. I spoke with the park manager about the problem and asked what was being done about it. I was told she would not discuss the problem with the members. I think it is irresponsibly for this park not to warn people of the possible damaging low power and not do anything about it. As others report this has been a problem for many years. The park has the potential of being very nice but is getting run down instead. We found the trash bins overflowing for days at a time and smelling very bad. We value our RV and electrical equipment too much to come back until the problems a fixed and advise others to do the same. When you are paying good money for a membership members deserve better than this. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects TT membership. This campground offers two choices. The first is by the road; noisy but sewer and good electrical. The second is towards the river; quieter , no sewer and poor electrical. Unknowingly, we chose near the river. The electrical varied from 112 to below 108 volts even though the majority of people were not using air conditioners. In between the two extremes is a low area which floods and is very soft. There were numerous ruts. They do accommodate campers with dogs by providing dog poop drop off containers throughout the park. However, there are only two sets of dumpsters and they are both near the front of the park. Sites are large and a good mixture of shaded and open spots. Staff is friendly. The walking trails are interesting. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Motorhome.

The sewer lottery is hysterical. Only about 1/2 the sites have sewer. I rolled in right at noon. They asked if I wanted a sewer site. I replied "yes." The worker then attempted to explain the lottery to me, but then handed me a paper and said to read it. I asked what the chances of getting a site were, everyone in the office agreed that I would not get one today. 1 - There is no "random" factor in the lottery. They read the names off a list, based on the date and time that you checked in. 2 - Must be present to win 3 - If your name is called, 3 things can happen: 1. "not here" - your name gets recycled on the list for tomorrow, keeping your original check-in time. 2. "Here and Choose site" - you are present and choose from the available sites 3. "Here, but Pass" - your name gets recycled on tomorrows list. 4 - Your name can only be recycled 4 times and then it is taken off the list. 5 - If you have lost your place, then you can requested that it be added, but it will be added at the bottom I was about 50th on the list, but got a site the first day (of about 15). They actually got to the end and had 3 sites left over because about 10 people had "passed" and the rest where not here. That was great, except that I had just settled in 20 min prior because they assured me that I would not get a site today, so I had to hitch up again. Everyone plays the game hoping to get a "prime" site. Evidently, this means no trees blocking satellite signal. Whatever. The rest of the facilities are nice. Free Wi-Fi in the lodge. New bathrooms and a very warm pool. Dryers take debit cards! The playground is small, but lots of other options. Lots of activities and entertainment scheduled. The roads are narrow. Some sites are grass, and the trees can make them very unlevel, so pay attention when choosing your site. Campers are grumpy, but I guess the staff can't help that! This park is looking rundown. They need to do a lot of maintenance and TLC. There are very few sites with tables. One man requested a table, and they refused to move one to his site. There were several in a pile in one corner of the park. They had swept debris into a pile in the office, and it was there 2 days running. I did not look on the 3rd day, so I don't know how long it stayed there. Showers are very tiny, and they need additional ones, as well as more laundry facilities. This is our first time with Thousand Trails and now wonder if it was worth it. We camped at Peace River RV & Camping Resort (Thousand Trails) in a Travel Trailer.
