The rate reflects a senior discount. We really liked this campground. We were not on the water but had a very comfortable, shady, and level spot near the restrooms. The hosts checked on us regularly and even with the campground mostly filled, it was very quiet. The restrooms and showers were spotless. We will be back to this campground. Great waterfront sites, but no shade. It's not the campground's fault. Campsites are close together and the 2 times we've camped here, we've noticed lots of young families. This would have been perfect when our kids were younger. Even my daughter, 13, loved the beach. I just prefer a little more privacy/distance from our neighbors and shade. We enjoyed the campground. The good: sites close enough to the lake to park your boat, bathrooms somewhat clean, sites level, hosts VERY friendly. The bad: no shade (not campground's fault, pine beetles), bring EZ ups. We'll be back! We camped at Payne Campground COE in a Tent Trailer.Undo

This COE campground is a bit of a disappointment, although much of what makes it less than ideal is no fault of management: about half of the campground had all the pine trees removed a few years ago, probably from a beetle infestation, and the what's left is pretty scrubby and with very little shade. The sites on the west side loop were still wooded though. We were late making our reservations and had never stayed there, so we unknowingly chose what was probably the worst of the sites in the campground. This campground is among several on Lake Allatoona, and is used mainly by folks coming to enjoy the lake with their boats and jet skis. So it's a bit of a party atmosphere; in fact, some local teenagers booked the site next to ours and held a loud drinking party until 3:00am on Friday night, complete with broken beer bottles and loud music. Our campground hosts must have had their air conditioner on and couldn't hear this commotion despite being only a hundred yards away. Surely they would otherwise have come down and put an end to this. On the plus side, the hosts were very friendly and the comfort stations were clean and modern. The sites on the east side of the campground are very close to one another, and the absence of trees makes you feel like you've stumbled upon a worn down trailer park. The west side sites are better, more spacious, and shady. If you are considering the Lake Allatoona area, a better choice nearby would be McKinney Campground. We won't be staying here again - our first impression was a lasting one! We camped at Payne Campground COE in a Travel Trailer.Undo

This campground seems to be a bit run down. The only shaded sights were not on the water. It was noticeable that several trees had been cut down. Weeds were growing tall and several sights were surrounded by poison ivy. Restrooms were worn but clean. Camp hosts were accommodating, but we never saw anyone patrol the area. Lots of tent campers here with boats. We camped at Payne Campground COE in a Motorhome.Undo
