23 Site City CG. 4-5 permanents. Some concrete pads, some grass. Mostly level. Surrounded by trees with a few scattered inside the CG. This CG was perfect for us. Quiet, peaceful. No tables, fire rings or playground. Large wooded area behind CG to walk dog. Bathrooms were locked with a combo lock which we never learned combo. You gotta go about 2 blocks into town to the Drummer Boy Museum to register and that's the only reason I gave service a lower rating. Might me my fault, but it took me a while to find the sign telling me where to register. Overall, I recommend it for adults who don't care about extras. Some sites had concrete pads and some were grass. It appears that some of the concrete pads had cable TV access. We camped at Andersonville City Park Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Scenic 1800's buildings in town. Museum in town. Reconstructed farm/village in town. Very handy to Andersonville Prison Site, POW Museum and National Cemetery. Did not see a gas station in town so check your guage about 10-15 miles out.

As the other reviews have stated, this is the city RV park. If you're looking for glamour, this isn't your spot. However, if you're looking for a good value and convenient location to the historical sites, this is a great spot. We called ahead for reservations, so knew to check-in at the Drummer Boy museum down the street. We were told to choose any open site and then drop back to give them the site number. According to our surge protector, the electric service on the first site we tried was mis-wired with reverse polarity -- moved over to next site and no problem. Reported the problem to the person at the museum, but we don't know if it was ever fixed. We thought it was a great location and value for the price. We would stay here again. We camped at Andersonville City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

First, what kind of camper are you? If you prefer well-manicured facilities with lots of amenities, this is not for you. If you love somewhat funky campgrounds run by locals and reflecting local character like we do, this is a gem. Old, somewhat rugged, but with well-maintained 30 amp electrical service, water, and sewer hookups. Some long-termers (doesn't bother us). Numerous level sites, some with old concrete pads. Exceedingly friendly managers, and a 2 block walk into tiny historic Andersonville, with nice cafe, museum, similarly friendly Southern hospitality from real people living real lives, dogs barking at night, and roosters crowing in the morning. Very close to Andersonville Civil War POW camp and the Carter National Site in Plains, GA. We camped at Andersonville City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

What an experience! The park is very small with a lot of full timers. The bathrooms have been upgraded since the last review in 2010. As previously mentioned, this is a city park. No cable, no Wifi, full hook ups, level lots, but NO amenities. The location to the Andersonville Historical sight can't be beat, it is approx. 1/2 mile away. This is not a destination park, we stayed one night on our way from Columbus, GA, to Jacksonville, FL. We camped at Andersonville City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This city park needs about 3 days worth of bulldozer site work. The only level sites are the ones with concrete and they are awning to awning. There are major ruts in all roads. Also the trees need to be trimed/topped, there are many large overhanging limbs. Entrances both north and south of the "restaurant" are very tight and rough. You can get a big rig into the concrete sites but it's not fun. We camped at Andersonville City Park Campground in a Motorhome.

As last year we were going to stay for the night on our way to Florida. We got there and found that the campground has gone downhill. The sign at the turn into the park says it will be closing permanently February 2008. We went to the office and found it was locked. We left without even trying to get anyones attention. We camped at Andersonville City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground is well situated off I-75 and makes a good stop for travellers heading down to Florida. It is a Passport America participant thus the inexpensive price. All sites are pull through with full service. The park itself looks a little unkept. The area is sandy with very little grass. The seasonal sites seem to be at one end and most appear to be looked after some are not. While we were there we lost water pressure on the morning that we left. For the price it was a nice stop for the trip down to Florida. We will stop here again on our travels to the Sunshine State. We camped at Andersonville City Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We left before we completed setting up the RV. Sites were very little and knats were unreal. Was not a nice place to camp for us. We camped at Andersonville City Park Campground in a Motorhome.
